My memory of Colin Kaepernick is different than what was described in this video. I think I remember that is protest or over killing of Black people not over hostile policing. Because I believe that I remember at the time thinking I would support him more if this was over issues with policing in general, because I do not believe that Police killed that many unarmed people. There should be a law that if police officer’s or any authorities are caught with falsely writing up a report that they be charged. They need to be held accountable. Cops and Judges are trained to be assertive & authoritative on the job. This posturing can easily cross the line into disrespect. Respect is a very important thing for black Americans (especially coming from whites), and I think this is the basis for a lot of the conflict that seems to come out of nowhere between the two groups.
I honestly don’t see what the officer did wrong. This gentleman was asked repeatedly to step back further than 3 inches. He shouldn’t have however quickly gotten handsy. That’s where the miscommunication happened. The basketball player had clearly parked very foolishly across two or three handicapped spaces. And horizontally. I hope this is improved in the future.
