Holy crap, RU-vid must have sensed my thoughts. I was thinking about this cartoon a few days ago because I never knew that Mark Hamill was the Count. It's also a nice touch how Nina going to bed and the Count waking up are contrasts to each other.
You took the words right out of my mouth. If this stayed in CN, I bet you Mina and The Count will cross over with Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. That would be awesome.
I have not seen this in so many years. I just learned mark hamill did the voice of the count. Just seeing this episode brings back so much nostalgia to me (I’m 30 btw)
@@jordanpeterson5038 well this short was made in the late 90's and the others were in the 2000's. Plus if i remember from the film "What Woman Want" Ashley was a teenager back then.
The reason why Nickelodeon rejected Mina and the Count as a series was because Nick didn't really feel comfortable about a vampire hanging out with a little girl.
"your parents must be so proud of such a beauuutiful,adooorable...DARLING,SWEET,PRECIOUS! ...aggrivating child...-_-" lol best part of the cartoon,i find. xD
1. Turns out she had a sister. 2. Mark Hamill did Vlad's voice?! Cool! 3. This would've been really good as a complete cartoon but i think Vlad should've turned into a bat i he wanted to come across as a toy.
1. Surprised she doesn't have a brother named Billy, since they share the same IQ and lack of fear of the supernatural -- Vampires, Ghosts and the Grim Reaper; you name it.
I remember seeing this in the 1990s (It feels so long ago now). It's a great feature that showcases the early work of Rob Renzetti (MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT) and Mark Hamill (who went on to voice the Joker). In fact Hamill is the star as the sinister, put-upon but sweet vampire who befriends a mortal girl, and the music is both cartoonishly Gothic and humorous. My favourite moments are 1:57-2:14, 4:10-4:28, 6:12-6:23 and 6:30-6:45. It's a shame this feature didn't get enough respect, but at least it had 5 episodes and holds a strong fanbase.
Hey Voldy2006, thanks for putting this cartoon on youtube. I was thinking that I was never going to see this, but I'm glad that I was wrong. Thanks again.
Even though Dracula in this cartoon becomes friends with a little girl, it is a lot truer to what Vampires are really like, unlike Twilight, and I like the horror references. This show deserves a proper series.
It's a shame this show never took off. Still the story, animation and characters are fun and this is basically how the "Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy" came to be.
Sydney Hamilton And that line was spoken by none other than Ashley Johnson, AKA Terra from Teen Titans, Jinmay from the Robot Monkey Team show, and Ellie from The Last of Us.
I looked for this cartoon because I recently learned they made more cartoons of Mina and the Count for nickelodeon. watching this again, I remember for some strange reason, I thought it was funny when the Count said "and I'll hide." at 4:23.
After watching the other episodes of Mina and the Count, I realise that it is so funny that a vampire would give a little girl the time of day. He is such an affectionate vampire ^_^
Except for the part where he smacks that poor cat, this is a cute/fun cartoon and I'm glad they made a few more shorts with Mina and the Count that you can find right here on youtube.
I heard they considered this to be a supporting feature on "Dexter's Laboratory" when that show got greenlit for production. That would've been neat to see, but then we wouldn't have Monkey, Agent Honeydew and the Justice Friends!
You're not the only one! I was thinking the same thing cause I use to be upset with him for doing that when I was younger! But now I absolutely see it super funny as Hack! LOL!!! 😂😂😂
I never noticed the small smurf toy in mina's room before... but then I must've been 10 when I first saw it. Ahh... thanks for the nostalgia trip. I imagine you've made so many people happy. Thank you.
The What A Cartoon Show On Cartoon Network Brings Back Memories To Kids Everywhere And I Wish That They Can Show All The 1990 Cartoons That Were On In The Past!
@CallMetheMusicMan In original vampire lore, yes. They have the power of hypnotism, and would use it on women (and men, in some cases) to entrance them into either becoming their meals or brides.
I was born in 1990 I saw a clip of this on a RU-vid video and it reminded me of this cartoon. So glad you uploaded this brings back a lot of good memories.
I lawled all the way to bed. xD I missed this show. It was a favorite of mine when I was a young girl... I remember it so well... It's so hilarious and sweet. ~
If I did time-travel...I could help Renzetti with the cartoon via Disney and my dream studio....even if Disney did buy out ABC. The wholesomeness of a friendship between a girl and a vampire is something one can learn and definitely something Disney will appreciate. I mean, this predates Monsters Inc. (the whole monster befriending a girl thing and what not), so if I time-travel (if real), this would become Monsters Inc. before Monsters Inc.
Just little bits. When the Count gets really mad for a second it DEFINATELY sounds like The Joker... With a slight accent. But the scratchy, Jokerness is there.
This toon vamp ranks up high, REAL high to all the others. Count Bloodcount, Dracula-- even that buggin' Chocula character on the cereal boxes-- ain't got nothin' on this Count!
I just saw this for the first time a few days ago when Cartoon Network started re-airing What A Cartoon! Although I didn't know until now that the sound and music for the beginning and end credits are different. All of you talking about Mark Hamill voicing Vlad, well get ready for this, that was Ashley Johnson saying a few lines as Mina. I've seen her in movies like Nine Months and Fast Food Nation, I will never watch Annie: A Royal Adventure but most of you may know her better as Terra from Teen Titans, Gwen for Ben 10: Alien Force, Renet from Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and my most favorites Tulip and MT from Infinity Train. Perhaps she might've gotten older after a while but I still wish she played the character again in the other shorts.
