As much as I love 'goodfellas' I'll be forever embarrassed that I actually discovered this song by watching a gangster movie. Lived it back then. Many years later I started learning Italian and took it as a challenge not to check online the lyrics (and translation) of the song but rather try and understand them by myself. A great moment of pleasure that indeed came sometime later. Made me love the song even more and the words are as beautiful as the melody.

Though I did read a bit about this song (in English sources) and learned he (GP) did not appreciate the version sang by Mina and thought she did not perform it well... I learn Italian, also making use of Italian pop/mainstream oldie songs (as I know a few and it's helpful when learning the language). Is it 'confirmed'? Or is it sort of a semi-guess like with (The Beatles) 'Ticket to ride' being about the Hamburg prostitutes STD certificates? (which is probably not true...). Thanks !
