For the benefit of those here for whom Adriano Celentano is not a familiar name, here's a quick career summary: He was one of the pioneering rockers at home, having made his debut in the late '50s covering American rock and roll hits. I first learned of him in 1966, as he was the author of the utterly stupendous Il Ragazzo Della Via Gluck. Some may know that song by the version cut that same year by the great Francoise Hardy as La Maison Ou J'ai Grandi. But here in the United States, that song got quite a bit of attention in mid-1966 as Tar And Cement by Verdelle Smith (released on Capitol Records). Adriano has done an enormous amount of film and television work, and he also did well at home with the often covered Ben E. King/Spyder Turner standard, Stand By Me. This mouthful of a title of a song covered here was first done by Adriano in late 1972, and released in the U.S. on Columbia. There is a video clip of him performing it live on television at that time, and it's pure genius. The idea behind the song was to depict what the English language sounds like to someone who doesn't speak it. In the process, he created a monster. That song is widely regarded as a forerunner of all kinds of genres and movements, and as this remake reiterates, it's just flat out as catchy as they come. No two ways about it, Adriano Celentano operates on a level of genius that few have equaled. And yes, that's him in the coffee shop in the video. He's one of the absolute masters, and his recorded legacy is huge. Discover and enjoy, folks. You won't be disappointed. And a salute to those involved in this newer version. Job well done!

Yes! Il Ragazzo Della Via Gluck *was* stupendous. I've always marveled at Celentano's incredible lyrical ability. He is a true poet. Have you heard his song "Il Forestiero"? Celentano's skill at weaving words into a story is without parallel.

I know...I can't understand the haters. The original was English sounding nonsense set to US-style music, and so is this; they just updated the sound a bit. That's the essence of the song.

Celentano didn't make a guest appearance in the video. Minacelentano is a collaboration between Mina Mazzini and Adriano Celentano, he was part and parcel of this version of the song. So he wasn't a guest, he was a participating artist.

I think this song (and the original) does one of the best jobs of capturing what English sounds like to people who don't speak English without being so close that it just sounds like chopped up bits of real words strung into a nonsensical order. I can't understand a damn thing, but it still feels very much like English (albeit with an accent different from my own) and if I wasn't paying attention I would think it was English.

Leo ma stai scherzando? Anche tra suonare la chiatta classica e quella elettrica ci sono notevoli differenza, ma un buon chitarrista le suona entrambe. Idem tra danza classica e moderna. Bolle riesce ad avere classe anche quando getta il sacchetto di rifiuti nella contenitore della spazzatura.

La versione originale risulta essere comunque eccezionale e più attuale nel ritmo rispetto a quest'ultima versione. Celentano resta sempre un mito. Fuori ogni tempo ed era musicale. Maestro. Chapeau

Bastava un synth acido che ripetesse il mitico riff di fiati(Che si sente ogni tanto ripetuto dal basso 😝 ) e nononostante Bolle (😁) sarebbe stata una buona rilettura, comunque , assolutamente non all'altezza dell'originale.

Sono stato uno dei primissimi a comprare il 45gg. in vinile nel lontano 1973, mesi prima che salisse al primo posto delle vendite. Bellissimo remix di un pezzo nonsense, sempre ballabilissimo. Grande vecchio Adriano!
