Early on Honda Minako demonstrated her mastery of "the torch song"; see "Aperitif" in "The Virgin Live At Budokan". Indeed, her peers were the best' see Judy Garland in "The Man That Got Away". "Sake To Namida To Otoko To Onna" loosely translates as "Wine and tears (Tears), and men and women ". It is a song of sadness composed by Kawashima Eigo. This is a reload of the video I posted in 2011. It was performed on the 1994 TV "Yume no rannyusha" together with "MINAKO HONDA - Hymne à L'Amour - japanese cover" uploaded by "singwithlove" on May 7, 2006, whose video enabled me to rediscover Minako after 20 years; the link follows below:

Our friend, Ted-san (brjmh/brjsilver), provided an excellent English translation for which I am extremely grateful; the translation follows below:
"Sake, tears, a man and a woman"
A man will drink sake
When he is surrounded by what he wants to forget
And when he is wrapped in hopeless loneliness
He drinks, drinks, gets swallowed up and drinks
Drinks until he gets dead drunk and sleeps
A man will sleep calmly before long
A woman will weep
When she is surrounded by what she wants to forget
And when she is wrapped in hopeless sadness
She cries, cries and cries alone
Cry until she becomes tired from crying and sleeps
A woman will sleep calmly before long
Once again, I thought that a woman was greater
Once again, I was able to see the cunning of a man
Because I am a man, I cannot continue crying
I gulp down sake tonight too and sleep
Because I am a man, I cannot show tears drop
He drinks, drinks, gets swallowed up and drinks
Drinks until he gets dead drunk and sleeps
A man will sleep calmly before long
