I'm a reader of the light novel and I was impatient to see how the anime would adapt this confession and I can say that I'm not disappointed although I knew it was going to do it. It surprised me in the same way as when I had read it, the atmosphere and the music that stops twice sublimated this scene even better than I had imagined at the time.

To me, Mimimi’s story is one of the saddest I’ve ever read in LN. (don't reply me with spoiler or implicit spoiler please) Aoi is way too dominant for Tomozaki, I don't like their dynamic, Tomo looks like a complete wuss beside Aoi (except when It's about Attack Family) it feels like Aoi is the male and Tomo is the female, Aoi never blushed, never nervous, never anything, she's completely in control. Whereas Minami is perfect, she doesn't try to be dominant, she's willing to show her vulnerable side to Tomo, and her aura is the complete opposite of Tomo which is interesting. Meanwhile Fuuka is just another timid girl with timid boy, very boring. Although I'm certain, Tomo will end up with Aoi. She's basically the final boss for Tomo. Aoi is the only character that doesn't have character arc upto this point. She has lot of masks to unfold. There are events where it's very obvious where Aoi was just making excuses or where she staged a scenario just to be with Tomozaki. It's just she's a master of putting up mask, thus you can't really tell whether what she did to Tomo was just one of her coaching material, or it's an elaborate excuse to be with Tomozaki.
