The team at our Mincon Geotechnical Centre in Finland have developed complete forepoling packages (also known as canopy tubes or tube umbrella) for tunneling in weak and challenging ground conditions.
Forepoling involves drilling a tube umbrella or canopy for increased safety and stability as secondary support before the tunnel excavation starts. Furthermore, the glass fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP) system and casings are used for long face stabilization for even more challenging condition before tunnel excavation. Mincon's extensive expertise in developing ring-bit systems for geotechnical drilling is carried over to our forepoling systems, which allows us to offer forepoling systems for DTH and top hammer in diameters ranging from 76 mm to 219 mm.
