It is a phenomenal experience in VR, it is amazing to have a life sized character in front of you, exploring, fighting talking to you. The nailed the third person view in VR.

Totally agree. I get sleep paralysis now and again, so I have heard voices and other sounds when in that state, that are not really there. The game does an amazing job esp when she looks at you with horror in her eyes, I felt like a dark spirit haunting her. creepy as hell.

Loved the ramble and yes I completely agree! Hellblade is a total mindfu*k in the best possible way... I've been following the project ever since they went public with it so it was already special in my book, but then they go around and release the VR version which completely takes over your senses and gives the game a whole new depth/meaning! In my book this is by far the best and most real experience I've ever had in VR by far. Worth at least double the price tag. Really everybody should try it!

I thought the game was great on a screen but VR really takes it to the next level. VR really makes this game something special.

The subpac m2x adds a whole other layer to this game if you get chance to play with one. I’ve been using mine mainly for vr music games (its fantastic for beat saber and electronauts), but for this it really stands out...absolutely immense immersion.

yeah I got the game when it released pancake and thought it was pretty and but it didn't keep me interested. I put it on in the Pro and from the moment you come up behind her in the intro I had literal chills. I don't have enough time in yet but it's a must in VR!

I totally agree with you. The best media experience I ever had. Normally I’m not into the cutscenes and storyline but this was just amazing. It’s been a week since I finished the game and I’m still hyped 😂. Also the song at the end was just perfect.

Had a very similar experience. I've only played the VR version, and I tend to empathize with characters on screen pretty easily, but this experience was just as you described: I wasn't playing as Senua, I was along with Senua for her journey. And I've never felt that kind of connection with a character before. Especially when you get to the gate to Helheim, and she turns and looks you right in the eyes... I had goosebumps for minutes afterwards, like it really shook me. I've been telling everyone that'll listen about it, but I don't feel like I describe this experience in a way that does it justice.

In regards to the sleep issues you mentioned: That's stress.. You're brain anticipating things, because you've been living in a stressful state for months on end. I experienced that from combat, but a lot of parents of new born children get into "trained states" because they are so used to reacting to sounds like a baby or child in need that over time creates a stress reaction that is kind of always running because you've been living in that state for too long. It takes time to distress which ultimately helps you get "restful" sleep.

ok I have an Oculus Rift and mostly use vr for racing and it feels so real. I wasn't going to try this game but now thanks to you , I will be buying this one lol Thanks.

A few years ago I took a course dealing with mental health and how to engage and help people suffering from mental health crisis. One of the exercises we had was to experience what it is like to have Schizophrenia. We listened to an audio recording which was developed by a doctor with help from Schizophrenics. The recording also used Binaural Sound and we had on headphones. The experience was eye opening and terrifying. It helped me have a better understanding of what a person suffering from mental health illness is going through. As I hear you talk about this game and your experience in it I am immediately taken back to my class. I think VR can become a therapeutic device for such people and an amazing training device for people who are in the business of offering assistance to those with mental health illness. (read: Not just for gaming.) Great video.

The first time I played this (in VR), a character called and i honestly thought it was my wife calling me, I took the head set off and asked what she wanted (she was upstairs :) ). the binary sound really makes this game, I'd tell everyone to have a go. great reaction Tribal!! keep up the good work. Oh i used Oculus instead of VIVe and it was still great.

I got the same feelings despite the out-of-body experience. Sadly I've got no VR hardware, but I played the "flat" version on a stereoscopic 3d multimonitor (3) setup. This may be the cause that I've got an experience closer to vr than to the normal flat experience you described. But if I'll ever get one this game will be my first go for sure.

I played the desktop version first. About 70% and then VR version. But then I realized I need to finish the Desktop version first witch actually first gave me these wow feelings. The VR version's way to handle some cut scenes broke the immersion for me. But I will anyway replay the full game in VR. (I would fix the cut scenes so that the screen is way bigger and closer to my head)

I think the problem is, too many people are treating and judging VR, as if VR; IS THE CONTENT! I posted this last week on F4CEpa1m x_0 's Channel, when people were complaining about Senua's Sacrifice not having "the right POV for a VR game." "There is no right or wrong content for VR, just good or bad implementations. The definition of successful VR is "IMMERSION". If you aren't feeling "IMMERSED", then your VR is failing. When is more "IMMERSION", in your game or multimedia ever going to be a bad thing? VR IS NOT a substitute for good content, but IT IS a content AMPLIFIER! ;0) " What you experienced was the ability of "Good VR" to AMPLIFY a good game, and make it EVEN GREATER!

I have played both the VR (1st) and flat screen versions. I actually needed to go to the flat screen to improve my sword fighting, but the flat screen was in-comparable to the VR one (worse). I don't have a Vive Pro headset (can't afford it). Looking forward to progressing further in VR, the bi-aural sound is awesome, and actually like being seated (a fully done locomotion version would be intense). Kapla'

I removed this game from my wishlist after reading a review on steam that criticised the 3rd person aspect in VR. I just watched your video and bought the game.. Thanks. Haven't played it yet but I have some very decent noise canceling headphones that I am gonna use for this

The state you where in.. are you talking about Sleep Paralysis? The way you describe it, it does sound like that but a bit different.. Can i play this with a GTX 1060? It says minimum 1080 but i know it's sometimes inaccurate

Oh yeah this game visual and audio were both awesome on non VR version. It did make me more nervious and alert than other games. Now after your review, I should reconsider getting the VR version. My non VR version is not upgradeable to VR lol. At 4:06, sounded like you should see a doctor if you're hearing voices. Thank god I never do. Can you do another comparison for RE7 for VR and non VR versions? Thanks in advance.

Preferred it on my monitor in all honesty. Effects looked poor in VR, constantly going from in game to a cinema screen, etc just took me right out of the experience.

wait, I thought all VR games had binaural audio... Well I guess that's a disappointment.

At no point in beating the game did I think anything was real. A 1st person game would have a better chance of making me think that briefly.

This game get me fell sick, is the only on VR that produce me nauseas. I cant play it. And is at 90 FPs all the time.

The 2d version was boring nothing special or psychological. Doubt that the vr version is any different.
