now you really, really must give this a listen to strip your mental gears.. yeah its WASP... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BscTgEcA_vc.html
The Crimson Idol is a concept album about an abused boy named Jonathan who steals a guitar he names Crimson and becomes famous and eventually commits suicide by hanging himself with the strings of his guitar. Chainsaw Charlie is the story of how he sold his soul to the music industry at the start of his career. You need to listen to the whole album for proper conext.
Seriously Crimson Idol is AMAZING ALBUM as well as Electric Circus or LIVE IN THE RAW. Pardon my french here but even more FUCKING AMAZING ALBUM THAN THIS ONE MY OPINION.
@@isaacpaz9287 Matter of fact, go watch their new drummer Aquiles Priester's cover of Chainsaw Charlie. If anyone can do justice to Frankie's drum tracks it's Aquiles.
I can see that.Usually creative people are hard to work with. Along with ego, and perfectionism creatives typically want their ideas to be expressed as they it in their minds.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT yea for sure, thats exactly what is said about most of the top metal bands, perfectionism and ego takes over, but because of that we get amazing albums. ive heard the same with Dio and many others
I love the fact he didn't give a crap on the lyrics. were in a world of butt hurts and Karen's these days. Please feel free to be offended or not. I'm still rocking to wasp I'm a blackie fan big time. Love your reaction mate all the way from Wales uk.
Bro this is a GREAT reaction. The whole album is a concept album referencing Johnny's rise and fall with music stardom. Blackie Lawless is an extremely underrated lyricist. Would love to see you react to W.A.S.P. Goodbye America and see how you feel about it.
The Crimson Idol is one of the best concept albums of all time, the story itself is amazing and the songs are great. The Story Of Jonathan itself is a masterpiece. Thanks for sharing, have a lovely day.
Wasp was kept on the fringes for what reason I don't know HAHA! Maybe his lyrics? the fact he DGAF what the music execs thought? LOL! But here's a fact, these f*kr's JAMMED! They had quite the rep that couldn't be ignored completely.
I can think of two possibilities: 1) Their controversial lyrics and shows 2) Blackie being so enlightened about politics that he correctly guessed Al Gore's presidential bid over a decade before it happened, as well as the authoritarian insanity that became the European Union.
They didn't want to be too marketable. They never specifically wanted to write "hits" and that's really all the labels want. They want the next Slippery When Wet and Hysteria every single time.
@@m.vondrake5534 Spot on! I remember some of the drama and opposing positions but you gotta respect the fact, Blackie did what Blackie wanted to do, end of discussion. As a Priest fan I would say an analogy could be, WASP never followed up a cranking "British Steel" heavy vibe jammer with a "Point of Entry" weak, low effort, uninspired attempt at top 40 type bullshit. I think most can admire an example of "can't be bought" belief system.
This band is so underrated!! They are one of my favorite bands (90s baby over here) Blackie Lawless is a Genius!! Would love to see a reaction to “Wild Child” “ Animal F like a beast” “LOVE machine” are my favorite!! 🤘🏻👅🖤🔥
BLACKIE LAWLESS =WASP "I WANNA BE SOMEBODY" "I want shiny cars and dirty money Lotsa rock and roll I will live in fame and die in flame I'm never gettin' old
I've never looked for a W.A.S.P. reaction. Yours is the first I clicked on. And... F'ing love it! Just might have to subscribe! Been a fan of this band for over 30 years!
Listened to this song almost 40 years and never plugged the crowds into the "factory" in the way you did, almost like the chainsaw is about to rip them apart - and at the same time the chainsaw rips into the artist while the artist performs for the crowd, which is the music industry at its heart. I mean, there's more to the song when you wrap the rest of the album around it, and more to the album when you use this original version of the song. Blackie re-released it to be less offensive in the remaster. But it's just amazing that I've listened to this song thousands of times, and I just got one tiny last new thing out of it. Amazing stuff. Thanks!
W.A.S.P. has been my favorite band for 20yrs. I cant tell you the joy it brings me to see the joy that this song brought you (or your face at least) and to see a happy first experience with something that's been with me for so long. It's like it gets me excited for the first time all over again!
One of the best albums ever made. In my opinion. From the 1st song to the last where the last song was a collaboration of all the songs. But this is the best song on the album honestly. But this is such an insane album. Fuckin love it. Thank you so much for doin this. Much respect.
I am sooooo stoked that you dig this tune, one of the most underrated that I listened to and thrilled that you dig. My hair stands on end seeing you enjoy this tune man, great stuff.
Blackie Lawless made a comment a long time ago that he was surprised, when the Crimson Idol was released, that people were surprised he could write something intelligent :) A great song, from a great album by a great band.
My favourite W.A.S.P. song, and your reaction to it was amazing. The Heretic, Mean Man, Wild Child, and The Torture Never Stops are just some of their classic songs you should react to.
Great reaction. I'd love to hear a breakdown, although you nailed some of it. It is about the music industry, but it's part of a complete story throughout the album. W.A.S.P. (mainly Blackie Lawless) never pulls any punches in his lyrics, kind of like Dave Mustaine. Other great ones by them that would make excellent t reactions are: Heretic (The Lost Child) Golgotha Unholy Terror / Charisma --- Someone made an awesome video for this one. I'll have to find that one again. The Idol Heaven's Hung in Black
I bought this album about over 30 years ago when i was in my high school 3rd grade (19 years old then and i'm Korean) I was shocked by this album which was named Crimson Idol. And this album is rated one of top concept album in rock history and the main story of this album was Blackie lawless' life yes it was his whole life story When you open this album there was a memos like booklit said that " I stayed 6 months in the studio to finish this album and spent hundreds of guitar picks , several dozens of guitar and bass string sets , also spent several dozens of drum cover sets with sevral drum cymbals and then drank several gallons of whisky while records this album And he played backing giutar, bass, drums and vocals by himself And one of his early years band guitarist helped this album by playing main solo guitars on several songs.
After listening to 2 other Wasp songs I completely agree with you. This guy can write a fuckn song. I love his work. The are a new favorite band of mine.
The song he did live at his 30 year thunder tour miss you sucked the energy out the room you had a big group of metal heads either tearing up or actually crying. It was amazing
You definitely need to do more W.A.S.P.! Their style of song writinting has evolved so much over the years. They are one of few whom have progressed. Anything from the first album, Headless Children, Electric Circus, K.F.D, Helldorado, or Dying for the world, and everything else between or beyond will take you for a different ride each time. I would love to see you do more W.A.S.P.
W.A.S.P. was my Jam back in the day, I found my first W.A.S.P. European import at a second hand music store and the album cover blew me away, it’s was W.A.S.P. first album, you wanna have fun. Go back, Animal, School daze, sleeping in the fire, Show no Mercy, you have just tipped your toes into W.A.S.P. and welcome to METAL!!
Great band. You can't go wrong reacting to any song suggested. K.F.D. is a favorite. Lots of energy and anger. Lawless made this album after the break up with his girlfriend. Helldorado a great album. The song cocaine cowboys is a cool reaction. Love the vids and your energy
Amazing song and the whole album tells a story. Chainsaw Charlie uses imagery and crazy story telling from the perspective of a young man who is being used and played by the music industry
I saw W.A.S.P. live twice in concert in California! What A great show u must go see. Since u liked this song and beat. Must check out the drummers video playing this song. Aquiles Priester. I also got to take a picture with Blackie Lawless after the concert. Amazing band. Keep Rockin. Andy from Miami
This song, and there’s a clip of Blackie Lawless, talking about the song and meaning of it it’s about The music industry and their managers, whoever signs them on, etc. And it’s about signing that died in line and once you do you sold your soul you have to do and obey and have to comply. Basically that’s what this song is about.
Man, this is one of my favoriate song of WASP. Blackie lawless is famous from his unusual attifude but i think he was kind of a genious and very very underrated then
I believe the whole record is a concept album and the songs all tie together telling a story. Definitely an Amazing record that never got all the recognition it should, very well done.
Big props to you for making a reaction video for this song.So far you are the only one that has done it properly.I mean using the original lyrics.I know they are quite controversial and might offend some people but i think it's worth discussing them.Wheter you agree with them or not.
Great reaction sir. Hopefully more of this great group is on the inbound. During a press conference Blackie Lawless was approached regarding what W.A.S.P stands for. The journalist said "We Are Satans People". Mind you this was the same time moms thought KISS was "Knights In Satans Service" etc. But Blackie just leaned forward at the microphone, smiled and said; "We Ain´t Sure Pal".
Been listening to this song for years and thought it wasn't "lies right" but "live rats" so I've always thought there lyric was.. I swallow live rats down my throat.
Oh awesome!! I had this album on pre-order in 1992, got it on day 1. It's a rock opera about the rise and fall of a rockstar.. and it's brilliant. The re-release of the album had the lyrics censored and I hated that.
When I heard he was redoing the album THIS was the first song I listened to. As soon as I heard the lyrical change I shut it off and never bothered with it again. The original album is 100% the way to go.
Excellent band, one of the best and yet quite underrated.... L. O. V. E machine, Wild Child, Animal (fuck like a beast) are a few excellent other hits by W. A. S. P.
you are LOVING your wasp journey as much as i love hearing them, EVERY TIME, dude :) if these are not your fav band, then i am Lying to myself in thinking that have become that haha
when i heard "I wanna be somebody" back in the 80`s i was blown out of my mind! Crimson Idol was the peak of them and to this day I still love this album
Not the biggest fan of hair metal but god danm Blackie Lawless & WASP are amazing, this song is so 80s, love it! Definitely worth checking out some of their other stuff: Animal (Fuck Like A Beast) Wild Child I Wanna Be Somebody Thunderhead Blind In Texas They've got some of the best ballads in metal too: The Idol Hallowed Ground Heaven's Hung In Black Trail of Tears All well worth a listen 🤘
Oh ja, you're so right with your interpretation of the lyrics. And I can tell ya that I love that kind of lyrics. Zynistic and so close to reality. The whole CD is absolute brillant. The story was written by true life. And so I listen to this kind of music since 44 years now and I'm not getting tired to love this kind of music.
Hello just discovered you I am a fan of WASP from the beginning in 84 I still enjoy their music he is still making cds through the years he changed you must check the newest one called Golgotha your jaw will drop under rated band
What's up T my man? Been a while oh, but when I sing the WASP reaction... I got to react to the react. Oh how fun they were. Need to check out one of his most outrageous shows for videos live that's when you can really really really, appreciate a wasp show or song
This is the video that made me subscribe to your channel and still, every now and then I come to enjoy this video. Looking forward to future W.A.S.P. Wednesdays🤘❤
Some song suggestions from WASP - The Hellion - The Heretic - Tormentor - (Animal) Fuck....like a beast - Harder faster (from Live...in the Raw) - The Real Me (WHO cover) - I don't need no doctor (WHO cover)
WASP, one of those bands that you forget ever existed, till you remember. I actually saw them perform once in San Antonio, in a bar. Blackie Lawless used to wear these long leather arm-bands with circular saw blades in each one (: With that voice, this guy was born to sing metal. He really has a great voice for metal. "I Wanna Be Somebody" is the only song i can remember rn, but it's a banger, an anthem, it's simple but it really rocks
This came out in 1992 from the concept album called The Crimson Idol. Good job on understanding the lyrics. Yes, the song is about the music industry. In the story "Chainsaw" Charlie is the president of a major record label who promises to make the main character Jonathan a Rock Star. Would go further into the story-line, but I don't want to spoil the ending for those of you who have not listened to the whole album yet. Other WASP tunes to listen to: Anything from "The Last Command" and I recommend the live release called "Live...In the Raw". Keep the reactions coming. \m/
Great as always man, wasp is definitely underrated, i think you definitely need to dive into them the way you did with megadeth (which was awesome to see you do), touch at least 1 or 2 songs from each album, which is quite a few, you definitely wont regret it, even there newest of albums still have absolute gems in them which is a rare thing to find in most bands coming out of the 80s or any decade for that matter, in my opinion anyways. Keep up the good work man, good to see you enjoy some amazing music as always
That’s my favorite W.A.S.P. song…check out these other awesome W.A.S.P. songs I Wanna Be Somebody Blind In Texas Wild Child Animal (F..k Like A Beast) Hallowed Ground On Your Knees 9.5-N.A.S.T.Y. Crazy L.O.V.E Machine
loved the reaction, tnx. the whole concept album the crimson idol is a true classic. it's from 1992, so not technically 80s metal but close enough, hehe.
Loved your breakdown man you nailed it! The Crimson Idol is one of the greatest concept albums ever written. However if you want a W.A.S.P. track that'll really give you something to chew on and think about I highly recommend Charisma off their 2001 release UnHoly Terror. Definitely wanna see more of your breakdowns 🤘
