Dr. Susan Salahshor, PA-C, DFAAPA has been a Physician Assistant (PA) for almost 30 years with experience in multiple medical and surgical specialties. A 1994 graduate of St. John’s University/Bayley Seton PA Program, she has worked at Catholic Medical Center in Queens, NY, Cleveland Clinic Florida, Mayo Clinic Florida, and in private practices.
Dr. Salahshor is the Founding Director of Ithaca College PA Program in Upstate NY. She has been in education full time for approximately six years.
Dr. Salahshor is a past president of the Florida Academy of PAs (FAPA), and the first African American to serve in this role. She created and developed FAPA Leadership Academy to develop leaders in her state. She teaches courses on interprofessional education and practice, professional practice, leadership, advocacy, US healthcare policy, population and community health, personal and professional development, wellness and selfcare. She is certified in quality improvement methodologies in healthcare delivery systems.
A Mental Health First Aid Instructor (MHFA), Dr. Salahshor is certified to instruct the adult, youth, higher education, military, and service members. She leads mental wellness talks to help individuals to develop a self-care plan that is practical and achievable. She is a John Maxwell Team certified coach and facilitator and does motivational speaking to young people interested in healthcare.
In addition to her professional career, she served 3 years in the US Army Reserves.
Susan is passionate about leadership development, advocacy, and mental wellness.
In her free time, she reads, dances, and visits with her grandchildren.
