An evening loop on the newly official Mine trails in the Gatineau Park! Here are some clips from my favourite sections on trails 41, 42 and 43.
Riding these trails takes you through some naturally beautiful and historically significant terrain close to town. In the 1800's, this area was the location of the "Forsythe Mine" which excavated about 15,000 tons of iron ore. Mica was also heavily mined in this area. This history makes for a unique area in the park. If you look closely when on the trail you'll see reminders of the old mine like the abandoned mine cart off of trail 41.
These trails work together to make a short loop with a few different entrance/exits to Chemin Cité des Jeunes, Mine road, and trail 5. There are some short, punchy climbs with some fun, chunky descents that you can link together to make for a very fun ride!
The location for these trails can be found on the NCC's summer trail map at ncc-website-2....
