It feels a lot less corporate and kinda... Business minded then a lot of channels these days. Feels like people don't often start RU-vid as a hobby in the same way as they did, so it's nice to just have a guy putting the YOU back into RU-vid.
this channel just gives me comfort, his voice, what he says about planning his minecraft world with the soothing music in the background just feels nice.
32:00 Oh- heheh- uhh... (takes out axe) *OFFSCREEN SQUID MURDER* ... (axe has noticably less durability, and ink sacs appear in inventory) - So this room we actually start getting into the sauna itself...
There's something really grounding hearing you and your friend talk about the community's reaction in the first clip, how the community is lamenting the decay of essentially a couple weeks-old server. So many abandonment memories surrounding old Minecraft, haha! It's really wild how much that reshaped this whole world's history in my head - at least the zeitgeist of it - after hearing the reality compared to the shared trauma we all seem to project onto old server worlds.
Yeah, I actually talked about this sort of topic at the beginning of my first world update. It really surprised me how many people viewed my world tour as sad lol
I definitely saw it as more uplifting, but I can totally see why people would see it as more... somber, or bittersweet if anything. I figure it just boils down to the fact that I bet loads of people have had the same happen to them. Start a server with some friends, all is well for a few weeks and then a month passes by and you're one of the only people left still visiting the server. Still, glad to see that your world is getting visits again!
Definitely that shared sense of abandonment in my head, both from the micro and macro scale - people largely abandon this version of Minecraft as well as their old worlds. The delivery as well. It's just you there in the first few videos, talking about the past. It's a big part of why I like your style though, it's very contemplative and calm, and you kinda can't have that vibe with a group of friends around. Edit: I'm still stoked your friends are around again though! It's a really nice vibe too, and I'm eager to see how you guys build the world up together.
This world is beautiful. I'm looking forward to the completion of the alchemist's guild; it looks beautiful so far. Also, I absolutely love the hot springs. It looks so great, especially for something I rarely see built in this game. Tell zlinked that he's a very talented builder. Hopefully he'll do some other cool stuff in the future!
44:34 Oh dude I totally get it. I've temporarily (at least I hope) abandoned a lot of my hobbies because of the crushing amount of school stuff I have. It sucks because I feel like I'm kind of drifting away from parts of my life, but hopefully when summer comes I'll be able to do more stuff. Don't worry about trying to get more videos out, you're fine.
the fact that its so easy to watch this 47 minute video all the way through, just chilling listening to you talk about the world and how its progressed is genuinely amazing, and makes me think of just old youtube in general, people were less focused on making the next best unique and engaging video and more of just sharing experiences with others and actually having a purpose for content creation.
Looks proper good. Checked in to one of your streams shortly a little while back and was wondering what that great big stone/stone slab wall you were building was. Excited to see it further along eventually. Also, don't worry about not making enough videos, we're not entitled to content, all at your pace, man.
And I think I speak for most here by saying we'd much rather keep having chill, genuine, quality content than something rushed and out of obligation rather than fun.
i wont lie, these "effortless" videos of yours draw me in. it's so nice to play the video in the background while you guide us around your world with limited cuts and a calm voice. something comforting to fill in the silence, i love it.
I loved your last vid and was very pleased with the formatting and raw, real feeling. Definitely subbed and thank you for bringing me back to Minecraft.
It’s good to see you back, just a suggestion though, but I’d be very interested in seeing another gmod map exploration video, I’ve probably rewatched that video 100 times and it’s by far my favorite video from you. It’s understandable if you don’t since it doesn’t get as much views as the Minecraft videos, but that gmod highlight reel style of video was so entertaining
I love this series, simplifying things and making the most of the limitations of the old game alongside the original sights and sounds just makes for a great experience with friends. It’s what Minecraft was originally intended to do; allow the players to create a story from what the game provides. New Minecraft has loads more lore, which is good but it can sometimes impede that childlike imagination you have when you have stricter limitations
you don't know how often i play your videos on a daily basis, especially when working i even memorized some lines that you said on your videos lol keep it coming, Dialko!
A little late, but one way for some unique paths in a snow area could be using snow blocks around the path- it'd make it feel a little more beaten in and used, and you could recess the path one or two blocks into the ground without worrying about having any dirt revealed that might ruin your preferred design. Plus, you can still use slabs with that method and not worry about lighting. Although, maybe a just plain dirt with no grass, with a little gravel mixed in here and there would work for a path? kind of like ground thats been walked on so much it's just mud and slush. I guess you'd need lighting but if it's recessed enough in a deep path it might not cause a melting issue.
good to see you back dialko! missed this kind of content :) the sauna/bath house is my favouriteeee!! such a charming build. the willow tree overhanging one of the outdoor springs really made me smile.
Thanks for introducing me to old Minecraft, it seems very fun! I don’t have a pc but when I get my hands on one, I will immediately play these old versions. Thanks for making these videos, they’re very calming :)
I feel like the cobble paths are fine, but maybe add some detail around it so it's not covered in dirt and snow. Maybe make the cobble into full blocks, and put slabs of some kind on the edges, or vice versa with cobble as the edges and the paths being something else.
Your videos hit a nastolgia bone I forgot I had. I remember growing up in 2009-2014 as a kid and watching Minecraft videos like xXSlyFoxHoundXx and Etho. What I find amazing is you some how capture that old-school Minecraft youtube style perfectly. Keep it up.
4:37 One quite funny thing is that Runescape also has rails, there's a quest that when done opens up the minecart system so you can travel between the dwarven city of Keldagrim and Varrock. as well as the ice mountain north of Falador. You can also open up a proper train route from the Dorgesh-Kaan (close to Lumbridge) and Keldagrim. Lastly, there's another rail system on the continent of Great Kourend, you can use it after you gain enough favour with Lovakengj.
For preventing the water from freezing, could you try putting glass blocks above it way up in the sky (so they are out of view). Water blocks need to view the sky/be snowed on to freeze in newer versions. Not sure if this works in Beta Also I was cracking up from the memorial at the end 😂
I know this is a 4 month old update, but yeah I mean I might dupe sand because unlike wood or stone, sand is not otherwise renewable, so if you want a massive amount of glass, that means there's going to be a massive pit (or pits) somewhere where sand used to be, and sand is also just not as abundant as dirt and stone, both of which I feel like aren't as noticeable when you want to gather a large quantity of, like you can do those more discreetly or where it's just underground, and natural, and not always visible like things on the surface
I really like the atmosphere in there! It is just like a new world, shame I find out your channel that late. Still, it will be something that I will follow for a while it seems. Even the seeing the new things looking fun, I wonder how it feels to be part of it! All of you seeming having fun, and I liked it!
Plus, now I think of it, wish there is a book and quill in this version. You guys could build an gaint archive and record your progress with a gaint hall to observe&read it! Start date of a building and end date, even maybe what kind of block etc has been used during the process. Since it has a long history, it would be a good thing to have it to see your progress and if any new people join to catch it up :)
You kicked me in ass and send over decade back in past with your videos. So I took my old PC, connected it, after like hour of browsing all folders there found old minecraft worlds and old videos and screenshots, skins etc, saved them to USB and uploaded into new PC i use now. It was awesome travel back to past. Many happy memories popped up, same with many sad memories. On few worlds there i was playing with one of my friends that passed away in 2014. These worlds were place where we shared our time in 2012. It was painfull to see these buildings knowing we build them togeather as kids, now looking at empty houses he build as adult married guy with kid i am now. So, I called one of old friends, told him about that discovery, and we rented server. Now we play togeather. It is awesome. Old minecraft feel absolutely different. We were awesome trio discovering this blocky world over decade ago. Now we are two bros sharing memories of beautifull times. And all that thanks to you. So, thank you.
Hey I really enjoy your videos, I especially loved your world tour and the flavor text you mentioned. It reminded me heavily of DND and how much I love playing that. Your video on why beta 1.7.3 is so popular was very relatable to me, as someone who generally plays Vanilla + modpacks, something my friends don't understand. Your video inspired me to start playing Beta again and I've enjoyed it a lot! I don't know if you are considering it but i'd love to join your world if you are looking for people to play with!
I love the beta versions of minecraft, you don't get clouded by all the extra stuff in the current versions, you can just simply enjoy the game and have fun.
25:13 I relate so much to this statement. Whenever I play, I tend to spend so many in-game days mining. My first base in my first Minecraft world back in 2012 consisted of an intricate tunnel system. I lived underground because I spawned in a jungle and I was afraid of exploring because of the zombies lol, so I dug a hole and I practically became a mole haha. I love making tunnels so much even to this day playing in 1.20
The reason you don't like the cobblestone pathways is because they have way too much busy texture beside flat (snow) ones. I recommend mixing different woods together with bits of gravel on the outlines (so you can see it). If full blocked snow is around on beta, maybe that'd help for the outside too? Path key: oak = o, dark oak = d, birch = b, gravel = g, snow = s Path "diagram": g d o b s s o b o g g b b d g Something like that maybe!
The grass was greener before Which noobs won't see anymore, Notch, please accept our apologies Mojang is now full of dummies. ***** We lost a great heritage When Minecraft was smaller in age, BUT BETTER, than now Beta 1.7.3 is in my heart, anyhow!
Hey Dialko, love your vids and your world! I was wondering, what (if any) Beta modpacks do you use? I know there are a few quality of life packs, such as Back2Beta (which you used in another video) as well as Beta Unleashed and some nostalgia patches. Are there any Beta QoL patches you use in your beta world? Or is it strictly Vanilla? Thank you!
gravel fits like it'd feel really nice! you could place torches above the path to prevent it melting too much maybe. also videos are 100% hard to make, don't cut yourself short!
46:05 Technically he is, just depends on which Charlie Brown you are talking about. If it's the Charlie Brown from Charles M. Schulz comics and shows then no, but if you are talking about Charlie Brown Jr. - which is the vocalist of a Brazilian band of the same name (he is also known as "Chorão") - then yeah, he is quite dead. I just wanted to share this info cuz when your friend said that it just reminded me of this thing that you might not know, and I guess I just wanted you to know.
id like to see a video of you trying out minecraft better than adventure for the first time and seeing your opinion on it. you might need to search up a tutorial on how to get the game up and running but this is probably the most optimized version of minecraft ive ever played in my life.
