Some mods be like that

Things to help minimize the grind a bit. 1) Pam's Havestcraft foods. Tea, Coffee and juices can be "eaten" when full, giving you saturation for better regen. 2) Biomes O Plenty Alps biome can have "Hot Springs Water". standing in this gives (very fast) regen. (DO THIS IF YOU CAN!) 3) You can hopper more than one stone into the altar to make more than 1 slate (same speed, but you aren't micro-managing adding/removing). Note: you need enough blood for every stone that goes in or it will fail; so you do have to control and limit your input. And Divination Sigil is critical to see the numbers. Loading up more than 10 stones early on is a waste; but filling the altar, loading 10 stones into the hopper, and wandering off to come back later to 10 slates is nice. * Once I get some T3/T4 capacity runes, I load up the altar with blood, and feed in a specific count of stones to use exactly what I have. ** Yes, it will lose any extra blood trying to make the next tier of slates; but that's better than doing them one-off. 4) the incense altar benefits your blood sacrifice, but changes the rules somewhat. It is still quite useful until you get a mob farm (or even to skip the mob farm concept entirely, which I do). When you're near an incense altar your knife glows yellow. A yellow knife sacrifices you down to 10% max health, so only sac once if you have one. You also get "Soul Fray" which stops your sacrifice from giving blood for 10 seconds or so. T1 - Incense altar, no blocks around it, 20% boost to the hearts sacrificed. T2 - altar is on a 3X3 solid platform (dirt, stone, whatever). Extending out in all 4 directions is a 3X3 platform of wood path blocks (needs T2 orb to craft). The corner areas are used for "tranquility" blocks. it will check these corner areas, and two blocks up. Tranquility rules: Lots of (non modded) blocks have tranquility for this; but more blocks of the same "type" have reduced effects. Types should be mixed (exact location of the blocks doesn't matter). I tend to have each corner be a different type. Some of the types I know and some blocks to get started, note all blocks are not equal (grass > dirt, lava > netherrack). Earth - Dirt, grass Farm - vanilla crops Water - Blood (bucket in Blood Altar) or water (flowing or source work the same on both). Wood - logs, leaves (I use vanilla here, modded may have issues). Fire - Lava, netherrack, fire T2 caps at 60% blood boost (more tranquility won't get more). T3 uses stone paths (needs T3 Orb), extends only 2 blocks out (not 3) from the wooden paths, and caps at 120%. (imagine 3-wide roads leading out from the altar for the paths). ** even though you only get 2 longer; you add a lot more tranquility; the corners go from 3X3 areas 2 high, to 5X5 as they extend. T4 is worn stone path and extends another 2 blocks (capping at 200%, with 7X7 tranquility areas). T5 is obsidian path 2 more blocks. Yes, 9X9 corners around a 3X3 center does make this a 21X21 structure at full size. Some min-maxing is helpful; but you will not need all the area filled to hit the cap. T2 cap can be done with just water or grass in all corners. T5 cap can be done with a good mix; but not having to fill the entire area. One possible max setup. Center 3X3 was stone I think, doesn't matter. The center 3X3 doesn't ever matter. The 3 wide paths leading out from that were the path blocks as listed above (3 wood, 2 stone, 2 worn stone, 2 obsidian) One corner - Blood (mostly flowing) pulled from the altar (5 buckets or 5000 blood will fill/cover a 9X9 hole for one corner) 1 deep was enough. 2nd corner - Logs at path level, leaf "walls" 2 blocks high making a hedge maze (not fully packed). (all spruce, changing logs didn't matter but using logs did) 3rd corner - center water spot for a 9X9 carrot farm (or wheat, or whatever; mixing crops wouldn't help). 4th corner. Netherrack at ground level, a few lit on fire, and some lava mixed in. Only 1 corner went above ground level, and this was easily enough tranquility to max it. You don't have to fill it in, and you can skip fire/lava and still get there. To get the altars closer together you can "pyramid" the incense altar. Place the 3X3 for the incense altar a few (4 I think?) blocks under the blood altar. At 4 blocks away, you'll get the incense boost standing on your altar to sacrifice; which is handy as your knife will (barring lag) always be glowing and never kill you. (don't push this too much obviously) For the paths, each row out can go 1 up or 1 down and still "connect", but they must be level with that row; and the tranquility check is on that new level. Last thing to note here (this is too long already). The boosts from Blood Magic from different sources are multiplicative (not additive). So you get 200 blood per heart sacrificing. Lets say you have 5 runes of self-sacrifice boosting you 10% each, yes this is 50% as you expect. But lets say you also have the T2 incense altar maxed and giving you 120% boost per heart. Instead of 170% boost (540/heart) you get 200 boosted 50% (300/heart) and 300 boosted 120% (660/heart). Adding in the "Tough Palms" on your living armor would be another multiplied boost. Fully loaded with the best armor (just adding more hearts and palms boosts) and a tweaked altar setup I've sacrificed for well over 300K blood for 90% of my hearts (capacity matters here obviously). Other mods adding more hearts on top of the Living Armor boost (Spice of Life: Carrot Edition, Botania's Ring of Odin, Astral Sorcery Perks) can take this much higher, In an Enigmatica2 run (without Draconic or Environmental Tech in play) I had over 100 hearts and was sacrificing for well over a million blood per incense imbued stab. And yes, it is still a grind (or at least a time waste) to get through to Tier 4 or 5 to get to the cool stuff. The speed runes help a bit for a few runes, but not much. Loading up a ton of them doesn't give you significant speed benefits sadly. But hopefully this helps speed someone's path.

@@gekkobear2 I already am doing most of these (except the hopper trick, didn't think of that). I'm at the point now where the mod expects me to come up with thousands of will. It feels like there is supposed to be some sort of trick with the will crystals to start up a positive feedback loop of will generation, but it is unclear. I thought of setting up a farm with the veil of evil, but turns out it doesn't do anything, so vanilla mob farms it is I guess. For now though, I'm just using fire resist 2 flasks to smack down blazes with the sentient sword.

When he's placing the dark glass start paying attention. That is a vid of a sample of a setup to gain more will. Gathering of Forsaken Souls + Mob farm (cursed earth in this case) to gain will. You do have to put some will back in, but you generate more than you use with the setup, so you should start generating overflow. Adding a hellfire forge with a tartaric gem would load up the gem as well (he does this but doesn't elaborate on if he is gaining both will and shards, looks like he might be). Note: Mob kills from that ritual never drop anything as I recall (so no random drops clogging the world). Adding the Crack of the Fractured Crystal Ritual ... I think automates breaking shards off the crystal when it is fully grown? But it chucks them on the ground (so you need an autocollector or the Zephyr ritual to collect them). Collector into Storage drawer, pipe into crucible. with both rituals running would (over time) build up will shards (and/or fill a tartaric gem in the forge). I think that's how you build up silly amounts of will. Maybe?

@@gekkobear2 thanks for the info. It is a shame that without the veil of evil ritual working, you gotta go outside the mod to get this to work. Shouldn't be too hard to set up though.

Hmmm. Cross reference with the book. It might of change. I could also possibly wrong or if your using a mod pack it could of tweaked the values needed.

My altar wont increase in LP capacity for tier 3. It makes it very difficult to do anything that costs more than 10k LP

I have all the tier 3 setup but nothing changes from tier 2

for the sigils to work, you have to have blood in your network. I say network but really you just gotta put blood in your blood orb by A: spam right clicking the blood orb B: Put the blood orb in the blood altar and feed the altar blood you can check how much blood you have in your network by using the divination sigil or the more advanced seer's sigil and it will tell you in chat. as for certain sigils that apply buffs, you shift right click them. the rest should just be right click
