Minecraft Chests Are Officially Useless 

Hi guys! After reading all of your comments and additions, I understood that this video is actually going REALLY harsh on chests. I forgot to include some really important factors, such as the red stone contraptions since I don't use them all that much. Also, there are actual ways to make chests portable (the most efficient being boat with chest) and I didn't include them since I didn't think of them as important and that's completely on me. Good video bad argument

chests are not useless, and they are the most cost efficient. barrels cost 7 as opposed to 8 wood planks, do you really need that extra plank? for the use of double chests, accessing the largest possible amount of storage at once, the cost is hardly worth it. the chest has non stationary variants too, so your point about them being stationary is useless (chest minecarts and chest boats). shulkers are better sure, but theyre harder to come by than chests, and ender chests are limited to one per world. all storage has its use but chests are consistently used because they are so useful - not even mentioning that they craft hoppers and their use within redstone.

this argument is in largely bad faith, chests can be made mobile with carts and boats, double chests are efficient, and unlike barrels they have use within redstone stuff.

I always thought barrels were super annoying, but this video has changed my mind a bit on them. I'll try to use them more. There is one use of chests that makes them really hard to replace, though. And that's redstone contraptions and farms. Not only do you need a chest to craft a hopper (and therefore a hopper minecart if you ever use those), But also a single hopper can feed into an entire double chest, letting you get extra storage for your farm without having to feed in extra hoppers. It's just standard practice at this point that whenever I make a farm (Iron golem farm, enderman farm, blaze farm, general mob farm, etc), I place 1 hopper in the bottom feeding into a double chest. And that simple method of storage is hard to replace.

Barrels are the worse thing to use if you live close or inside a village. Fishermens are far from the best villagers you want in multiples. The new trial thingies gives you Less loot than chest and dont offer any storing capacities. I don't see any good arguments.

the chests are the only containers that CAN have double space. all the others are single inventory size. this means better organization and more versatility. barrel blocks are cool, i LOVE barrel blocks, but i wouldnt use them to hold a large amount of items, like container for carrot farms, it would be much more efficent to have a double chest.

Chests are SUPER useful, like the rest of these guys in the comments have been mentioning. But I'd say the most important factor is permanent base building. Having a large accomidation of chests in an area is great for storing large amounts of items, as well as more organized with it being a double chest.

Underrated video only thing I would say that could be argued against would be double chests in farms like raid farms with takes even more materials then making 2 barrels and an extra hopper that needs look at that a chest to craft but still GREAT video!

I don’t agree with the take but I do agree that chests are much less useful then ever now especially with the bundle and the ominous vault. Also I think that the vault system should be adopted by some of the previous structures in the game because it works better on servers. I feel it’s especially needed in end cities if nothing else so that people don’t have to go potentially tens of thousands of blocks to get to an unlooted end city. Also I think bastions would be a good fit for a similar system to allow multiple players to access netherite upgrade templates

You literally undermined your first argument by that double chest footage you played in background but I guess ignorance is key to prove one's point, keep it up. Tell me you never build magazine in minecraft without telling me you never build a magazine in minecraft:

wtf are you talking about? barrels are not a better alternative to chests lol, they're annoying to craft and can't be made into double containers like chests can?

if you want cheap mass storage, chests are still top. Barrels look nicer, but are less convenient. Shulker boxes and ender chests serve completely different purposes, so I don't get why they're being brought into the conversation.

Chests is more easier and faster to craft. And who would craft a slabs just to save a few wooden plank blocks anyway? woods are likes, the most easiest block to find in Minecraft anyway.

horrid take; barrel look worse, barrel is also a villager block so villagers will walk into your house and work there if you are near them, ender chests aren't cost-efficient, you can only have one, and shulkers are only useful late game in ender chests which most Minecraft players don't even get to. overall bad argument and if you really claim that people use the chest any less then you dont play the game, literally every Minecraft world every played in survival will always use a majority of chests to store shit
