SMALL CORRECTION at 7:18 It creates a 42x42 square instead of a 36x36 square. Its shown built right, i just made a mistake with the script and text visual! Sorry for any confusion!!!
@@imsippinteainyohood3023 Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Light levels shouldn't be an issue since this is enclosed, and I don't see how this could be for spawn proofing when they're just replacing air.
Same OMG I places the blocks first then ran along with the trapdoors since it was faster same with the slabs since the trapdoors require crouching and the rest dont
Pro tip (for those that can mess anything up like me): When you're putting the staircases in for the walls, before you place the trap doors, make sure you leave a space open so you can get out in case you have to drop in from misplacing the ceiling trapdoors or if you have to leave at night. This farm works really well pretty quickly, so make sure you have a means of escaping the creepers and try to do this build only during daylight hours.
the process of placing that many trapdoors is quite difficult but i promise you it is worth it i practically have infinete gunpowder now thanks for the tutorial:)
For anyone on Bedrock, replace the slabs on the inside with buttons so spiders don't spawn. Stagger them and skip a block in-between to make sure there are no empty 2x2 squares. Remove all the stairs and replace them with solid blocks because stairs still let light in. Finally replace all the slabs on the top layer with solid blocks, then put slabs covering all blocks on top.
Really good farm. No clickbait very easy to build and even better then most others that are harder to build with cats and redstone really simple and highly recomend it. works perfect in 1.20.1 and works really good with looting
I built this in a Deep cold ocean biome with some friends & this is by far THE best creeper farm tutorial on RU-vid to date, built on Java 1.19.4 the exact way he did in the tutorial and get an insane amount of gun powder. Works even better when you use your looting 3 sword. I’ve built 3 different ones and this is the only one that’s actually worked.
before you watch this vdeo and undergo misery, place the block that are above the trapdoors before hand, makes it much much much easier to place all the trap doors!
Bro this farm is insane i built it in a smp of java version in which bedrock players can also play and this farm is most efficient farm i have ever build this farm is awesome❤❤ but don't forget to place slab in last where creepers are dropped (right here 8:34 )or they will destroy the farm😭😭
I almost lost my sanity while building this in my survival world, but it works well so it's worth it ig? Anyways thanks for the clear tutorial, it helped a lot.
I just have to say, the fact that you do this tutorial in an order so that you don't have to keep changing levels is SO CLUTCH. This was so easy to follow and understand. Well done sir.
literally the only creeper farm I've tried that actually works, I love it! Also could you theoretically upgrade it by having creepers go into a nether portal to get around the spawn cap? If so, do nether mobs spawning nearby mess with the amount of creepers coming in? If someone could tell me I'd appreciate it, love the video!
Hey, I built the farm above land, its at y240 and im afking at build limit. I am getting WAY less drops than I think it should. I was afk for about 6 hours and got 2k drops in those 6 hours so about 300 drops/h. I was wondering if you know what is wrong with it. I was the only one on the server. The simulation distance is 10, render is 16. Now my friend is afk and I'm watching most of the creepers just stand around a while and then despawn, only some drop. If anyone could help me I would be very grateful, thank you.
In the beginning, we’re you meaning that you need to turn your render distance to 7 chunks, and build it where you don’t see land anywhere, with your render distance at 7? I want to make sure I get it right, I’d hate to build this and have it not work. Cheers!
Thanks for the awesome video, I followed it step by step but I only yield about a stack passive with campfires. Can’t seem to figure out why it’s still light inside?
When I fly above or below the farm it looks like there’s a bunch of torches or glow stone seeping through from within but there’s definitely not any light sources within thousands of blocks, glitch maybe?
I love how comprehensible and easy to follow your tutorial is. So many tutorials are shown in creative and are a nightmare to follow along in survival, you just made my life that much easier. All this gunpowder and resulting fireworks will help me feed my elytra wanderlust, lol. Thank you so much!
A LOT of people are confused about the big platform so I thought I’d explain it. Basically the giant platform allows for more pack spawning which increases the rates of the creepers and makes the farm much more efficient, without this platform, the farm will still work but it won’t be as efficient. Hope this helps! ❤
..And for those that don't know what "pack spawning" is, it essentially works as follows: 1) The game checks for spawnable areas in and around the farm 2) The game has a chance if selecting one of the slabs on that big outer platform (for this example one of them gets selected for a potential spawn) 3) Mobs can't spawn on slabs 4) The game checks for a new spawn location 5) Spawn location selected inside the chamber- creeper spawns Rates increased because there are more "potential spawn blocks" around the farm-- but since ~half of those blocks cant be spawned on, all potential spawns are forced to select a block inside the farm- where you want them. Minecraft's pack-spawning mechanics are why you see many farms use a weird slab platform on the edge. Here's a really good video explaining it in better detail: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-779nBa43mjo.html
I LOVE the style of these tutorials!! The visual representations of the number of blocks helps me so much. I always stop and count each block in videos but this helps me not have to do that.
I didn't build the slab skirt around the structure (not sure what that is for) and I'm already getting more gp than I hoped for with looting sword and puttin out the fires.
Finished building this today and it's working fantastically. What I like about your guides is how absolutely thorough you are. Often when I'm following a guide I'll have a question, or something I'm unsure of, and I have to go down the rabbit hole doing extra research to make sure I'm doing it right. Here, you've covered everything - every question I had was answered in either your script or in the video footage itself. 10/10, heartily recommend.
Attention bedrock players!! The slabs and stairs let light in and don’t let mobs spawn, UNLESS IT IS FOR THE KILLING PLATFORM USE BLOCKS INSTEAD OF SLABS SND STAIRS EXCEPT FOR THE OUTDOOR PLATFORM.
Made this in 1.20 and also replaced building blocks (except for spawning locations) with tinted glass, and its really efficient! I also did not need to do the slabs at the top\ this allows me to watch them all fall and burn  !!!(btw the stairs are not required if anyone is wondering, I did the sides with tinted glass (you can prolly do any solid block) and it works just fine.
I have built this farm in 3 different survival worlds now. Most recently in 1.21. I like to build it as my first XP farm. Secures tons of XP and also gets the gun power problem solved for rocekts and TNT for hunting netherite! It is easy to do early game it just requires a bulk amount of blocks and time lol
I used the enderrman farm of yours and tried looking for a good easy creeper farm, i couldnt find any i could trust until i saw this vid of yours. Thanks!
I made this farm and with looting 3 after about 15 minutes I had like 20+ stacks of gunpowder. So I would say you should build this farm if you need gunpowder and/or xp very nice farm and video.
I just built it over an ocean and its really fast, thanks for the video, the only Issue I got with it is that I wanted it to be for xp too and when I AFK the farm stoped sending them after some creepers are accumulated, is there like a mob cap that stops it? do I need to send the creepers to a different space further form the farm? maybe make the drop zone bigger? pls help!
I'm playing on 1.20.1 and spiders are spawning, a solution to this problem please Is it because I used cobblestone slabs instead of smooth stone slabs?
a solid full block roof with a 6-7 block brim don't forget to add slabs or torches but if you use torches don't add them to close to the edge and you can add more layers but each additional layer has diminishing returns so although you can add 33-35 layers to many may even lower rates since any unprotected mob 30+ blocks away for 30 sec will start to despawn these mobs will take up mob cap but not give any yields so keep it modest or it's just a waist admittedly i have no idea how many layers is best but i would guess 5-7.
Fuck I built this on bedrock realm and it sucks. I searched specifically for bedrock but this still popped up. Now I see in the description a red X next to bedrock... don't build this on bedrock.
what is the purpose of putting carpets by the AFK area, using stairs as walls, and making the platform around the outside of the spawn area? From my understanding all of these are only there as decoration, which for me makes it incredibly strange that you specify things like placing temporary blocks that you later break, and making a temporary infinite water source, since that implies that you are trying to make this design survival friendly. But even so you add a bunch of decoration that use a ton of unnecessary resources, without ever specifying that they aren't needed, and that they are purely for decoration??
the carpets are there so then you can break the campfires and replace them with carpets to make getting the xp easier when using the looting function of farm. The stairs and outside platform are there to allow for more pack spawning which increases the rates of the farm :D
@@moretingz oh wow I totally expected all of that to be purely decorational. The carpet thing makes a ton of sense now that you mentioned it, but the pack spawning thing is a mechanic that I have never heard of! Maybe it could be a good idea to quickly explain certain aspects of the design when you are making the video, so that it is clearer what things have a purpose and what that purpose is. Like quickly mentioning that the carpets are there so that you can easily interchange them with the campfires, or that the platform and stair walls are to improve spawning? I don't know "worth" this is doing since I don't know how many people get confused and think some design aspects are optional, although I guess this might be something worth considering? Thank you for explaining to me the purpose of those things!
i built in survival and it works well, thanks. but I'm curious, what is the purpose of extending the slabs out by 6 on each side at 7:07? is it necessary?
yes although it may work worse or a little differently i made it in bedrock and it was a little slow but i think i can fix it with a solid and wide roof with 6-7 block brim don't forget to add slabs or torches but if you use torches don't add them to close to the edge and you can add more layers but each additional layer has diminishing returns so although you can add 33-35 layers to many may even lower rates since any unprotected mob 30+ blocks away for 30 sec will start to despawn these mobs will take up mob cap but not give any yields so keep it modest or it's just a waist admittedly i have no idea how many layers is best but i would guess 5-7.
My friend and I just completed this farm, and it works perfectly. Also, everything in the video was explained with great detail, so I will definitely be checking out your channel for future farms👍
