That's when you know that there's nothing novel about it. Minecraft Dungeons can be fun, but since it has absolutely no identity of it's own beside it's source material and inspiration from Diablo, you just think about those two rather than the game itself. It's almost a Schrodinger's cat situation.
@@mattbattmatt People are still making videos and talking about Doom Eternal, Animal Crossing, Last of Us, etc. If a game is memorable, it will be remembered. This one wasn't.
I was thinking more like a gacha game- where you don't get experience, you have to shoot an identical unit to upgrade one (one star for one star, two two stars to upgrade to three stars, etc.)
@@damien18462 I know that opinions be opinions and you may be right with how the game seems limited, they could indeed use more biomes as future dlc, the nether for sure is going to be epic and the orb of dominance being reformed could have something to do with end with a fight against the dragon, something else that would be cool is online servers for more social interaction (worth a report button for obvious reasons) I also would love it if people could make custom skins either by down loading them or from a system simaler to the current version of Minecraft..... But NO EMOTES..... Other than that I do still do like the game, and the great feeling of power when you have the fighters bindings with a mushroom and the renegade armor for an absolute Aura of DEATH... Good game all-around!
@@Aaron-gg2pz at least they resemble to what they are called. the slime BALL looks like a ball, but it's still made out of squares, while the ORB is a literal cube.
While i do like and enjoy the game....your absolutly right about it needing more things in it ...skill points and some sort of character picking thing ect ect....and as you said the enchantment system is dumb
Yeah I wish items could level up with you instead of being a one truck pony but I'd find it acceptable if different tiers had different level scales so Normal weapons age slower but epic keeps up till the end of the game
How is the enchantment system is dump? It's pretty much the best part of the whole combat system, I still didn't watch the video but i'll check it out later on (I'm one of those who goes straight to the comment first).
@@sanstheskeleton6510 Personally, I find it very amazing how many combinations I can make and how many fun combinations there are. It's especially great when you get a set of enchantments that aligns perfectly with the artifacts you have. Though, that's just my experience. What's yours?
most of these problems have been fixed since, love the ancient hunts, adds alot of replayability by giving you randomly generated dungeons and bosses based on what runes you input.
@@DarthDargoz The "ending" of the game isn't actually the ending, the real ending can only be unlocked by getting EVERY. SINGLE. DLC. All of which (if bought in a bundle) cost the same as the game.
The fact it went 50% Minecraft and 50% Diablo is the main issue. It tried to combine the simplicity of minecraft with the gameplay of Diablo, Which it should not have done, because Diablo is not a simple game, and if you strip the complexity, and character building, and different classes from it it's no surprise it will be bland and uninteresting. It doesn't only not bring anything new to the table, it took the good stuff off the table.
I don't enjoy complexity and awfully grindy RPGs. I like a simple game that I can get on to from time to time while still not being too far behind on progress.
I agree, and I also think it's a good thing and why I still watch his channel. I'm glad he didn't just praise it for being a big franchise like 90% of the review outlets around.
@the Emperor of man It's actually more than 3-4 hours (3-5 hours to finish the default mode if you're always focusing on finishing the objective), it's about 20-30 hours to finish the whole game casually but it also depends on if you like exploration.
@the Emperor of man I can understand why so many people were put off when they started the game, it just felt too short and repetitive. For me, the game was fun because I was searching for ways to make it fun like challenging myself to do some levels with only specific items or changing my builds multiple times. To note, there are actually 15 levels it might take over 10-15 hours just to complete these levels in the default mode, so it's without repeating the levels. Add 10-15 more hours if your going to play the higher difficulties. Edit: Btw, I played over 65 hours :D
@the Emperor of man I think you make a great point that I completely overlooked, and actually makes a ton of sense. Pitching it as a kid friendly intro to the genre is a great way to look at it, and would fit perfectly with Minecraft's target audience. While any age can enjoy it, this definitely isn't meant to cater to an older crowd.
Being in the "top paid" section of every store they are in year after year, even to this day, makes me think money isn't the issue for Mojang. Hopefully those calling the shots can keep their egos in check, hear the critiques, and keep pushing forward.

My comment was more saying that I hope that, if they make a sequel, the game surpasses my expectations. Don't let my "meh" affect your enjoyment of the game.
@@jinkim0513 Don't worry, they have lots of plans for Minecraft Dungeons. Like adding a way to upgrade the items level, and better merchant system and generally more balances/features. The game feels more of a beta, and I guess that's how they like to work. Making the main system of the game and releasing it as soon as possible just like Minecraft Earth, the game was missing a lot of features when it started but now it has lots of them.
I have never played Minecraft Dungeons because it looks so uninteresting to me, but I would ADORE a Minecraft Dungeons sequel, I feel like it has every opportunity to make the best choices. I feel the best way to make a sequel would be to take the mining and crafting of Minecraft and try and intergrate it into Minecraft Dungeons in some way [Like crafting your own weapons and traps, digging random ores for materials and brewing potions]. The very idea of the game having randomly/proceduraly generated dungeons and chambers is enough for me to want a sequel really badly, kind of something like Enter The Gungeon.
David Bergmann yeah. The whole minecraft thing made it kinda cooler with the whole idea of “wow its built just like its minecraft!” But that doesnt really add or take away gameplay at all.

Actually, when you try to grind for good weapons in MINECRAFT dungeons, it's actually quite fun. Just get max weapons and try. Also Minecraft is in caps as for some reason, autocorrect did that.
I'm not sure I've been able to tell so immediately Jirard's opinion on a game by the opening alone. Also that DKC remix track used in there is super dope.
Yeah disagree with this, diablo is way too boring, and the pixelated minecraft artstyle combined with the cool late game weapons compared to diablo sells it more for me. idgaf if thats an unpopular opinion.

When I first heard of the concept of Minecraft Dungeons I was really excited because it SOUNDED like there would be lots of user-generated content and stuff to share. Y'know, because building stuff is the point of Minecraft. I was really disappointed when it turned out to be just another Diablo clone.
its not a diablo clone, diablo is just such a good dungeon crawler that its the golden standard and so people tend to call most new dungeon/loot crawlers a diablo clone because diablo impacted the genre so much (plus what would be the point of release a Minecraft game where you build if you can just play Minecraft and get the same experience)
@@insertname717 Wouldn't be the same experience though. Can't really compare a first person game with simplified combat to a dungeon crawler with more varied weapons and armor. User made levels would actually make this game interesting. It would actually stand out from other dungeon crawlers.

@@jamestercool4412 Why? It's the best Paper Mario in years, The battle system is still not great but better, yet fights are still avoidable since they don't offer anything afaik. Worth playing for the story atleast unlike the other previous games.
@@sultan_3864 Same for me but you can avoid most of them if i'm not mistaken and battles are still interesting and fun i'd say. Not having levelups and stuff like that is disappointing though but i'm used to it from the last Paper Mario games (and they had boring AND useless fights so i'd say this is a win overall)
I honestly love Minecraft dungeons and I’m sad to see people hate it not because I like it but because when Minecraft was first released it was not incredible and the same goes for dungeons what we need to do is give it a chance not throw it out if we simply wait and let Mojang ad more levels and items yes it has problems and yes minecraft is better but that dose not give you a reason to not give it time to grow as a franchise and a game I hope you read this
While you make fair points, I think you should give the game another shot. In the past few months it’s received several updates that add new content and such, plus there’s been plenty of new DLC. Maybe after the End DLC I think would be a good time to look back into it. Also I do like the games progression system. While many would prefer a proper level up system, I like how Dungeons has it where skills and abilities are based of the equipment you find. The game has received an update to where you can now upgrade your gear too so if you find an item with good enchantments on them you can continue to upgrade it. Overall I think this game deserves a second chance, it has a lot of potential.
Hey, I love this game a LOT. But your opinions are justified. I think one of the only ones I agreed with was the skin one. I think introducing different classes would be a shame though, as the artifacts are kinda like creating your own class. And I don't actually think that the game is boring either. Overall different people like different games, have a nice day :D
0:06 Correction: Minecraft's world is not randomly generated. It's procedural generated. The only random thing is, what seed you get. But worlds with the same seed will always generate the same world (as long as the version matches).
In my opinion, Minecraft Dungeons’ gameplay is satisfying and fun........for the first half an hour of the game. But the game forces you to replay levels multiple times to get more emeralds (the currency) and more powerful weapons, like when you’re near the end (if you haven’t completed the game please stop reading if you plan on doing so) you farm a mushroom monster in a secret level for the best items in the game and it just takes forever and has NO depth at all, and like Jirad (sorry if I pronounced that wrong) said, the game expects you play the story three times to get the ‘full experience’ and to get the best items but the experience is so mind-numbingly boring that’s it’s not really worth the effort, Minecraft Dungeons is an okay game, but there’s not enough depth to the experience to make it worthwhile and therefore, it gets pretty stale pretty quickly, I’m not asking for Dark Souls level depth in combat, but in Dungeons, there’s literally nothing other than: ‘swing weapon, shoot bow, use artifacts every now and then’ and that’s literally it....
yeah but it ain't the point of the game, if they make it a sandbox dungeon-crawler the 2 mechanics would clash and they'd just seem like a weird mesh, and the constructing would feel forced if they implement it only into some areas in a Lego game sort of way, the only way I see it working is that you have to solve a puzzle with the given blocks but even if they do that people would find a way to complain about it

I really wish they adapted some of Minecraft's building and crafting mechanics into the gameplay. Powerful weapons would need to be forged from boss drops, and the skill ceiling could be created by those who are the best at manipulating the battlefield to suit their advantage, kind of like Fortnite (no matter how much you may hate the game, you've got to admit that the building mechanic is one of the main reasons it got so popular). The main difference being that Minecraft fits much better with these ideas, and it could set it apart from other dungeon crawlers.
They failed in making a proper difficulty setting, you shouldn't be forced to beat the game in order to move on to the next difficulty that only feels like they raised statistics of enemies and using more frequent enchanted enemy spawns (which most people just run by. Due to there being no reward) Difficulty should be able to be chosen at any point and should offer more than minor tweaks and rewards that cannot be available on easier difficulties.
The main problem i see a lot of people have with minecraft dungeons is that people want an adventure and they think the game is an adventure dungeon crawler. It’s not. It’s a looter dungeon crawler. The game is mostly for collectors who wants to always get stronger and collect everything. It’s for people who like to search for pokemons with the perfect iv and nature. It’s dumb fun and it’s supposed to be played with friends. I had a WAY better time playing the game with my friends. So in conclusion if you want the game because you think you know what it is and that one thing you think it is is all you came for then don’t buy it. If you want the game because you like trying new games or because what i described intrigues you then go for it.
Lol. Really? All dungeon crawlers are the same, with the only big difference being the art and story. Items getting destroyed and losing gear is nothing new to crawlers or RPG's of any design either, or even Minecraft for that matter. I would think a "completionist" would know that if he had played a few crawlers. Ranting about Diablo lore without acknowledging what happens if you die in Diablo 2, or die in Diablo 2/3 in hardcore mode (you dont just lose your pretty enchanted bow, you lose EVERYTHING) and have to start over.
I feel you are comparing this too much to Diablo. MCD is based on Minecraft, and is a Dungeon Crawler game. This game has different ways of playing it. To each their own, but comparing the two and saying it is boring a bit harsh when they are different for reasons.
the reason for this is that they really want you to make your own plot by giving hints here and there to the real plot, that is what a ROLE-PLAYING game is all about anyway, it works for Minecraft that it is an open world Sandbox Survival but most people when presented with a story in an adventure Dungeon crawler they want it to be told to them directly instead of having to figure it out by themselves with research

Honestly, I quite enjoy the game, I always liked Diablo's game style, but I've never been a fan of it's dark setting. So Minecraft Dungeons was just what I was looking for

We now have the official minecraft game, a minecraft point & click adventure game (well, 2 actually...) & a minecraft dungeon crawler. Why do i want a minecraft Dynasty warriors game all of a sudden?
I think the main issue holding Minecraft Dungeons back is that it was released before it was ready. The whole problem of having to destroy your items for instance was fixed by the blacksmith update, which allows you to disenchant items by upgrading them. The only problem with that upgrade mechanic is that it should have been in the game from the beginning.
Man. I LOVED MC:D on release. Was raving about it. After the first DLC it's plainly clear they don't give a shit. It's such a shame, it's a fantastic base but with zero intention to take it anywhere.
Played this when it first released. was a good single playthrough but got bored. Few years later now and I played Diablo 4 on launch and REALLY got bored and did not have any actual fun. Came back to this game after all the updates have been released and development stopped. Its actually a pretty fun and solid game now. It now has hunts, the tower, and of course more levels with all the DLC and a few free levels. The biggest gripe this video had with having to dismantle equipment has been fixed as we can now remove and change enchantments. We can also give items to the blacksmith to level them up to our current level so that we no longer have to refarm the same gear over and over. I feel that this game deserves a second chance from anyone that felt it was just ok at launch.
I have several complaints. Minecraft dungeons is not a knock-off diablo. It’s very similar, but it has more Minecraft in it than diablo. Second, don’t be one of those people who say they beat the game in two hours because you beat the first difficulty. That’s not how you’re supposed to play the game. You have to find all the secrets and beat all the difficulties.
i remember the first trailer made literally everyone think that you could pick a class, because it just so happened that it had a bunch of characters who looked like exactly stereotypical rpg classes. also, 4 players with 3 iron golem artifacts each = easy mode also, when you go find a rune, you’re sent to The End and I can’t be the only one who thought the secret level was gonna be there also, maybe it’s just me, but i could’ve sworn in Minecon they said something one of the levels being randomly generated, but I might be wrong also, I feel like the game should’ve had a system where you can fuse weapons, like you can combine a weak unique weapon with a powerful normal weapon to make a powerful unique weapon, so you don’t have to throw away your entire loadout every level also, maybe it’s just me, but it feels like the kind of game where the developers put in a ridiculously hard to find secret that ends up being found 8 years after launch also, i kinda wish the game had a way to import skins from regular minecraft, but it’s a bit late for that now also, i hate how the revive system makes monsters spawn to kill you if you don’t revive your teammate (good concept) but how am i supposed to revive my teammate when i’m almost dead and i have a bunch of monsters after me also, this is kind of a nitpick (this entire comment is a nitpick really) but why is the desert like 90% grass also, this is a MASSIVE nitpick but i feel like most armour (with a few exceptions, like the grim armour) barely covers the character. also, i know it’s supposed to be a joke but wouldn’t the orb of dominace be 100x cooler if it was actually an orb? also, what even are illagers? are they, like, a bunch of villagers with war paint on? are they just born with grey skin? why do they have shaved eyebrows? blue eyes? i swear the game calls them outcasts but, like, they have an infinite army but they live in giant manors and stuff meanwhile the villagers just have some farms and small wooden houses. also, (this one isn’t a nitpick i swear) wouldn’t it be cool if you could, like, import parts of your world into minecraft dungeons? it’d be literally impossible but impossible things are cool. that’s why they’re impossible. i couldn’t decide on a comment so I just put a million trash comments into one big dumpster comment
Minecraft Dungeons is sort of the equivalent of Lego Games for Minecraft. What I mean, is that in both cases, a brand associated with creation and destruction is turned into a game primarily about destruction (though I would say Lego Games do a better job representing what Lego is).
funny, i had the same opinion. A friend of mine was like "ohh i like Minecraft dungeons you should play it!" i got it after he said so, played it with him a bit and i was like "sooooo its just like a washed out diablo game...without a skilltree to begin with nor classes."
Saying that each world spawn in minecraft feels completely different suggests that either a) you have not played much minecraft or b) you are being amazingly hyperbolic
There are like 3 seeds. Tiny island in the middle of nowhere, slightly hilly plains / savanna near the ocean, and overgrown forest. Every other biome / starting location is way rarer
Minecraft Dungeons probably would of been better if it was a rogue like instead of a dungeon crawler, this way it would keep the randomized aspect of Minecraft while also adding more replay ability.
It's cause you like the type of game that it is, the reason people hate games isn't cause it is bad it is cause it is not their type of game, most of the complaints were that "This ain't Minecraft" and that's it and it is because it isn't Minecraft and it isn't supposed to be Minecraft, for the game it Is supposed to be it is a great game
@@selena3467 literally the first line is "It's cause you like the type of game that it is". Many people that like to play Call of Duty and Fortnight don't like to play Kingdom Hearts because FPS and JRPG are two different things, this is common knowledge.

The joke is Minecraft dungeons has already been done better years ago by fans with mods, a lot of dedicated time to make amazing maps and structures as well as some tools to script whole RPG systems, dialogues and stories. Add all of those together and you get the Minecraft spinoff game I'd like to play. For free to boot.
