A lot of the mobs in minecraft seem to be human or formerly human. Ghasts, skeletons, zombies, and the various ruins that don't match how villagers behave. The fan theory of minecraft as post apocalyptic really does hold some water.
And as Minecraft is updated, life slowly returns to this apocalyptic land. More passive mobs appear, life returns to the oceans, greenery and life returns to the caves.
As someone who made a "these are all jokes why are you making this spooky!" type comment on the last iceberg, this video is the perfect rebuttal. An actual list of REAL & eerie stuff in Minecraft, fully explained... Great job mate
@@quit-rt4vz according to another commenter, they were jellyfish in the overworld at first, so they are technically back to their original home, ie, rescued
They’re (jungle temples) still in the game though, I guess they seem a lot rarer because of how dense the jungle is making the harder to find. But in the jungle map (when you select a specific world) on bedrock you spawn about 100 blocks away from a jungle temple so they’re definitely still there. As for the jungle villagers, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t exist again because of the density; but there is a unique texture for villagers born in jungles. Exact same thing for swamp villagers.
What if the “Uneasy alliance” achievement is like this, The ghast wants to see its “home” again in the overworld, and then wants to be put out if its misery/suffering?
The zombie horse not floating on water is NOT a bug. Both skeleton horses and zombie horses are able to walk underwater, which makes them an alternative to normal horses, as it is really hard to transport them through bodies of water.
Hey, I just watched all these videos and they are great! Regarding the Ghast drawing in the Mobestiary, I bought the book because these videos got me so interested. The book says the Ghast stores fireballs in its stomach. It doesn't say anything about a cannon. In fact, it says the Ghast is almost completely full of gas.. As for the computer chip brain, that appears to just be the art style. If you look at the creeper cross section, its brain and other organs share this same circuit board looking style. Same thing with all the other cross sections of mobs in the book. So I would argue the Ghast is not any kind of robot.
I actually think the illusioner is one of the most interesting mobs in the game, considering the fact that it is on merchandise and still gets updated. It's almost as if Mojang doesn't know its not in the game
I left just before the horse update. I started on Beta 1.8, and went all the way round again until the 1.5.4 Redstone Update, where they added hoppers, comparators and stuff like that. Now I'm hearing stuff like unique villagers, undersea temples, magic arrows, shields, concrete, boats with oars, rabbits, flying capes and natural Nether portals. What the hell happened?
@@Windmillc And maybe all of them were falsely accused and ejected from a spaceship, later being revealed that Ender Dragon was the only one remaining.
The Nether scares me, it's so sinister and strange with many things that don't make sense existing there, there was a reason I never went to the nether when I originally played through the game so many years back
It is confirmed that the End is what the sky dimension eventually becomes. Mojang was struggling on how to realistically implement day and night on a place with no horizon, as it would technically be always daytime as the sun would never go out of view. At last, they just removed the sun entirely, hence the black sky in the End. They explained all this on a video.
Here's how I would do it: The sky dimension is floating in the atmosphere of a gas giant. There's no solid surface (besides the islands, I guess) but the endless layers of opaque clouds below allow for a horizon and a day/night cycle.
I like the explanation that the End is just the Aether, just its been through the entirety of the destruction the player does during the time of playing the Aether mod. Cause yknoooow, you basically destroy the forces of magic and all while in the Aether. Makes ya think huh.
For a long time I thought "Return To Sender" was a weird name for the achievement and thought it hinted at deeper lore until I realized it referred to how you kill them. Cool that ghasts have a little rabbit hole after all.
I think the first ghast was a machine that ancient evils (Evokers) put the soul of a dead adventurer inside and learned it could power the monstrosity. So they made more organic variants, all controlled by the power of foreign souls. Over centuries, their brains become more savage, and they have only 2 things on their minds: the suffering they've endured in this place, and returning home.
Everyone: being disappointed that the iceberg image turned out to be just a shitpost of Minecraft memes RetroGamingNow: Fine, I'll do it myself This is epic my dude
My theory for the Ghast, is that its some(extinct?)Animal from the overworld that was turned into a cyborbiomechanical machine, the crying could be the animal still inside suffering, and when you take it back to the over world you finally allow it too see its original home and it would play the happy sound effect when you finally let him die happy when you kill him
Do Ghasts attack you when you take them to the overworld? I would love to see a switched AI from hostile to peaceful depending on which dimension they are in.
I didnt really dig this in the new versions, but its actually true, in Singleplayer mode, your world is a local server even without hosting it, i know this because when i used to mod minecraft 1.5.2 and crash the "World" and not the game, it says something about the host disconnecting and send me to the multiplayer list screen Also in the crash log you can see that when starting a singleplayer minecraft world, the client refers to it as a local server Personaly i confirm that your local world is a fake multiplayer Nice vid btw
Lemme build on this a bit. In the Bedrock edition of Minecraft, all worlds are 'servers'. First of all, LAN worlds pretty much just connect you to a server. My copy of Bedrock edition for the Windows 10 has been experiencing a rather strange bug; I've been able to connect to empty glitched and unused worlds. This LAN world is named 'Bedrock-Server' or something along the lines of that, and terrain generation is completely corrupt, with no oceans, and entirely stone (with the exception of naturally generated structures). However, recently, this server has turned into another user's world. I've done what is supposed to be the impossible-- connecting to LAN worlds that I am not sharing a wifi connection with. I've even met the other user. But forget that, all we need to know from this is that all worlds are servers.
@Matix 777 Not really. It just means they can treat SP and MP as the same, with the same code, instead of hardcoding them as special cases It doesn't mean people can join your singleplayer worlds, they're functionally the same as the old, "true" singleplayer
My thoughts/idea on the "Uneasy Alliance" advancement: [Pet/animal death tw] An 'Uneasy Alliance', by definition is an alliance where two things/people work together for something, but never fully trust each other (an example is the 1939 non-aggression pact between the Germanriech and the USSR, that can be seen as an uneasy alliance). We will be using this definition for the rest of this theory. Now, I find that the most likely answer for the naming is the fact that the ghast is known for being a mob of suffering, from its uneasy and depressing crys, and the suffering could come from a past betrayal. A good amount of theories go off the fact that the Ghast uses cat sounds and has what appears to be cat-like features (whiskers, stripes on the top and back of it's head, etc,) and say that ghast were formally cats, and using the theory that Wither Skeletons and soul sand were humans fleeing into the Nether (most likely due to a end-of-the-world senario), this could be plausible. Cats have been known to be an uneasy animal, only putting trust into those that it knows it can trust, and they are known to hide away or attack when they feel threatened or mistreated, and I feel that mistreatment is the reason why ghast weep and attack only the human players instead of everything (as it really could attack everything if it wanted to [exception being the Enderdragon as they attack the dragon when in the End]). These cats trusted their human, and when their human didn't listen to their cries, and when these cats inevitably died, they died with most of the trust they had lost, and it will take a lot to cause the cats to retrust another human in their next life. The cats' spirits inevitably was claimed by the soul sand/soil, and if these soul blocks can cause bodies to start to morph and shift as they are reused and claimed by the soul of it's past (through the Wither Skeletons were/are human theory), it isn't hard to think that the same would happen to the cats. The cats' bodies became deformed and bloated, adding to the size, and the souls reclaimed the bodies, with fuzzy memories of their past, but their soul knows they distrust humans if one approaches. This can be why it is an uneasy alliance, as you are bringing a creature that knows in its soul it hates humans, but you promise it freedom and reunion to the world it thought it would never see again. The ghast is willing to trust you as you offer it freedom and care, something it died not having, and the reason why the player doesn't trust the Ghast is due to the fact that the Ghast will attack if the player isn't careful. They are willing to work with you to bring it into the overworld, for it can be free from the hell it was brought to unknowingly, and for it can finally be at rest. However, when it gets brought to the overworld, it is still suffering in the distorted body that was formed from its past remains, and its soul truely isn't at peace and rest, so the only option is to kill it, freeing the soul of the suffering of the past, and letting the cat finally rest. The soul can finally respawn as a cat again, instead of being stuck in a cycle of being claimed by the soul sand and being forced to being a Ghast, over and over again. It was an alliance formed with only a sliver of trust from both sides, and you not only lived up to the promise of returning the Ghast to its home in the overworld, you also freed its soul from the perial that is an endless cycle of suffering in a foreign world and body it wasn't meant for. **TL;DR/to make it easier to understand**: Ghast are cat's souls trapped in distorted bodies (caused by soul sand after their death) in the Nether and live in constant suffering caused by betrayal of their past owners for bringing them into the Nether (thus why they attack only the player). The player offers the Ghast a way out, and the Ghast, although not trusting the player, works with them to get out of literal Hell and suffering. When the player gets the Ghast out of the Nether, the Ghast is free from Hell, but the soul that inhabits it is not as it is still suffering in a body and life it did not want, so the player must kill the Ghast to set the cat's soul free and to let the soul spawn as a cat again instead of being claimed by the soul sand and turned into a Ghast. The uneasy alliance was formed and finished, with the promise from the player forfilled, true freedom for the Ghast's suffering soul. . . . . . Of course, that is just my theory and thoughts on it, and I wrote this after I just woke up, so if there is grammar and spelling mistakes, that is on me. I hope it is understandable (and if it isn't, I hope the TL;DR makes it easier to understand). Who knows, maybe "what is the ghast" is a theory worth a video itself, that takes a look at all the evidence we have and what seems the most logical. Edit: also, I found a thing from the offical Minecraft site that confirms that Ghast are ghost, but of what, it doesn't say (leaving the cat theory as a viable one as well): www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/meet-ghast
Idea: the end dimension is the moon, hence the cheese like end stone, flying ships, and elongated humans (similar to effects that happen in space to humans). It is also why when you fall into the void you suffocate like in space. The shulkers make you levitate like the low gravity in space and makes sense why there is no levitation potions in the over world. The end islands would be different space debris and planets.
@@svenskaplastic Think about it like this, it's already been proven that steve is incredibly heavy and even on the moon it's possible that his weight exceeds being hindred by gravity, none of the flying ships have engines and appear to float just like they would inside space and I'm not sure why you can breath there or not freeze but if you enter the void you suffocate like you would in space, but I'm not quite sure what you meant by purple sky :/ -cheers Casper
I'm kinda surprised the fact that ghast sounds are distorted cat sounds wasn't mentioned in that last one. Maybe ghast are dead cats suffering in hell.
I understand it as ghasts = ghosts, and by killing them in the Overworld you're setting their souls free. The mechanical implications are strange though.
7:39 Fun, little known fact: all cows, including female cows, can have horns. However, most ranchers use "de-horning" paste on female calves to prevent them from growing horns. They do this because it makes them a lot less dangerous to people, as well as each other. Bulls often get to keep their horns, as ranchers usually have far fewer bulls than cows, so they have less opportunity to hurt something.
Notch did confirm the dragon was female, and in fact has a name, just like how Steve's official name is "Steve?" with a question mark, the ender dragon is "Gene?" with a question mark, Notch confirmed this
my sisters and i used to play minecraft on our raspberry pi! as i remember, there are very few biomes and no nether or end, and no mobs spawn at all. you can basically just fly around and build/destroy stuff, but as kids, we thought it was pretty fun
WAIT WTF, I've played in some of the missing versions before, I started playing Minecraft in 2009 and some of these versions don't seem to exist in the game but there are videos of some of these missing versions. Even I can recall playing on some of these versions a long time ago with my brother
The old md3 models were actually from quake 3 arena. There was klesk, patriot and probably others i havent seen. But notch did play quake 3 and quake live back in the days. He even played some matches vs team avolition, also challenged Bethesda because of the 'scrolls' lawsuit.
the uneasy alliance theory is genuinely the most interesting minecraft theory i’ve seen out of my years of playing the game. i’d love to know more about it
@@rzno3414 why did he ignore the topic in the first video then and say something like “even in an iceberg video some things should be left out” if it’s not some crazy thing?
My guess is that the removed structure “indev house” was turned into the Dungeon in later updates based on the four chests in the room, and the mossy cobblestone that make up the room.
The player spawn egg can be replaced with a non-edited game command. You just type /summon NPC and a character that has the same pose as a villager will appear, allowing you to customize the skin and dialogue.
The entry where you talked about "Toast" the rabbit really hit me because I had a Dutch mix named Celeste that went missing recently. I had her live with a Dwarf Hotot named Princess for over a year, so she got really depressed when Celeste went missing. Edit: Celeste came back a few days ago, but she's more aggressive toward Princess.
For the thing about the ghast, the "bring it home" part might not be referring to the ghast's home, but instead the player's home, given that the player is native to the Overworld.
Finally, an iceberg that’s actually taught me something AND made me piss myself at the same time! Plus, no cheap jumpscare! The Depths actually freaked me out a little
For the Ghast theory. I think ghasts are were once humans trapped inside the ghast creatures so when you bring it too the over world and kill it the ghasts soul leaves and lives in the over world as a ghost. When you kill it in the nether it’s soul is trapped in hell
actually the "bees are trans" tweet was a joke based on how notch is actively against the trans movement. but the reason of why the person who made the tweet blocked that guy escapes my comprehension
@@dobi2236 I dont use twitter. Its fine if you dont want to explain it to me, I cant figure out much of twitter given how I didnt have access to twitter when i was younger, I suck at technology lol. My younger brother made me this account, and I don't know how to change the name.
With one of the entries a old villager is deniable,on bedrock which I use for my current device, they're were changed to citizens when a certain block is nearby they get a job which is nice some can spawn with no job but most of them are workers well still it can be possible the old villager entry is true.
Dang this came our at the perfect time. It’d be cool to see some more in-depth explanations or theories, or possibly other icebergs. Though I know some there are some youtubers don’t like to repeat themselves.
Actual notch here. I had no idea the videos were region blocked! They're on my old youtube account, which I no longer have access to due to various reasons. I'm doing great, by the way. :)
That Ghast 'affectionate scream' sounds like a pipe releasing steam at a high pressure. Kinda similar to old steam engine trains. This could be an indication of Ghasts being machines, or at least they were planned to be?
i used to play on a server that used that sound for a minigame. i knew which sound effect it was but i couldn't help but associate it with a steam engine train, like you said.
My interpretation of the ghast thing: Ghasts are actually the ghosts/souls of people who have died, after they die they get sent to the nether which is essentially hell. When you rescue them and bring them to the overworld, you're bringing them back home, as that's where they were when they were alive. When you kill them you're putting them out of their misery and freeing them from their suffering.
Cows can have horns and chickens can have wattles! My moms friend is a farmer and they said that cows with horns are called “poll” breeds, and that chickens with wattles also depends on the breeds. Like how pugs have curly tails but a german shephard doesnt!! :D
Arriving at this video a year later, I know, but these videos are pretty fun to listen too while im doing other things. About the Ghast Mystery, I've got an idea for how they could implement the affectionate scream into the game . Once the Ghast has been freed from the nether, it could turn friendly towards the player and maybe even become a guardian for the player, just like dogs. The ghast could give the player free tears and other items. In a crazier idea, the ghast could become rideable by the player. What are your thoughts on this yall?
@@skeletonman1126 some people seem to think that once you're rich, everything you say should be held against you. Also Notch received a one-way ticket into seeing the world for what it really is. I don't think he would have sold Mojang if he wasn't pressured into it. So he's been saying some choice things on twitter that everybody's getting their panties twisted about.
@@PostalAngular Man, this just ticks me off. I can't win if I say anything. And you're gonna get your brownie points for "lul punch nazi". Might as well double down and say the big N for all the good it'll do to even point this out.
@Emily Barclay Wow, that's real mature. Wanting to defend someone from nazi-calling is suddenly fondling their balls. Look at you, so stunning and brave. Nobody's a hero, Emily.
If you think about it, Ghasts don't really fit into the nether, they are flying creatures, but are limited because of the nether ceiling. They also are very easy targets because of their color. Their color scheme would fit way better into the overworld, with them flying and hiding in the clouds. So maybe They actually originally lived in the overworld. edit: I have thought about it again now and realized, that I completely forgot to mention, that Ghasts are immune to fire and lava, which could be a hint that they actually belong to the nether. It could also be, that they were brought/got there very early and through evolution they got immune to fire and lava.
Here's my thoughts for ghasts. I'm thinking that they were used as transport or attack purposes by ancient people in the game, and then later turned into cyborgs for easier uses but then banished to the Nether after probably becoming redundant. This is all speculation and I'm not getting this from any sources, but it's fun to think of. Then again, regarding mossbag's comment, you can skip the whole cyborg part. It still makes sense.
5:36 It used to be able to have ai and do quite a bit of damage - however, the last version I remember this happening in was 1.7.10. Looking at the mc wiki, it seems it had its ai removed in a 1.8 snapshot. It was probably scrapped due to a combination of not fitting in the game and it having difficulty hitting players due to its size.
By the way, you have missed some interesting facts in this video too. What I know is: 1) Brown mushroom cows. Yes, they are a thing. Even funnier, they can be obtained by hitting a mooshroom with a lightning 2)That's the interesting one. There was a certain build of version 1.6.1, which generated a "throne room" structure BELOW the bedrock at 2418 -418 2841. I tried looking for it and found some mentions, but not the actual version file, so i can't prove is it real or not. Some youtuber claims it's been released on 1 jul 2013 at 11:00, followed by the patch that removed this structure just an hour and a half later 3)Broken textureless blocks. Some blocks and items on old Minecraft servers break when updating from older to newer game versions. Some examples are: "alpha slabs" (have the properties of a stone slab and the texture of an oak slab, texture does not display in inventory/player's hand); Shrubs(dead bushes, but can be placed on grass), green shrubs(dead bushes, but alive; pretty much the rarest item in survival) 4)The end generation is broken since ~1.14. Due to an arror in code, the terrain is generated in rings, which start at around 300000 blocks and get thinner and thinner as you travel away from spawn 5)Furnace minecarts. Everyone completely forgot about them. However, if Mojang makes them just a bit more usable, they would be a great way to travel if you don't have stacks of gold lying around. 6)In Bedrock edition, the game starts to break pretty quickly if you try travelling to large coordinates. Eventually, you'll fall through the world.
I remember having the PC gamer demo. It was probably my first connection with minecraft back in 2013 or 14 cant remember. (Experience with it incoming: But i do remember me playing it, seeing those cows. And the fact that i had to start a from 0 each time i booted up, i used to do something i would use in survival servers even on today, wich is hiding into trees and doing houses on the leafs.
5:52 one time on the Xbox 360 I was on creative during update aquatic and I was burning down a woodland mansion, because why not. But, while doing so, I found a fossil inside the mansion. At the time, I did not think it was rare. But now I regret not writing down the seed.
Alex is most likely a girl, as all official mentions of her use female pronouns, and most alternate skins on console/mobile versions of the game have her wearing clothing that is traditionally female clothing.
Also, why would they NOT have female representation in Minecraft? What kind of point are they trying to make having both the main characters be guys? Isn’t Minecraft supposed to be made for everyone?
about ghast theory, they could've originated from the overworld, perhaps some sort of slave for the ancient builders who sent them to the nether, then the ghasts that managed to escape were killed and the fossils that you find in the overworld are fossils of the ghasts, which explains why there are so few fossils in the overworld but a lot in the nether. also i could just be overthinking it, who knows?
I first played in 1.7.9 right before rabbits were released. I remember endermen being atleast 4 blocks tall and all I knew to do was mine dirt. I found out how to make planks somehow and my first planks were birch. I used the achievement guide to find out then the next was put 4 planks next to each other so I literally did that by placing 4 planks in a line. My brother said the black rock (which was obsidian) was unbreakable and he had a meltdown when he was killed by a witch in the mountains. I also got to the peak of a mountain by breaking into it with my hand. I played on a bad PC that took 10 minutes to load a world. My name was prettyzombie123 and that was given by my sister.
