Because they wanted to go for a “different” approach to make it stand out, but clearly we know why Minecraft isn’t supposed to be live action in the first place 🤦‍♀️

So, the movie is titled "A Minecraft Movie", instead of "The Minecraft Movie", because the director wanted to enforce the idea that this movie is only a story about some people who play Minecraft. Not a story about Minecraft itself. This is possibly why it's live action. Idk if that actually means anything to anybody, I'm just reiterating what the director stated.

@@ponocni1 The irony is that Element Animations did a live action Minecon coverage before, including a Villager #9 costume made of boxes. The movie could have gone with just live action boxes and done some very cheeky stuff, if they wanted live action so bad, but instead they went and tried to chase after Sonic, Mario, and the Disney CGI cashgrabs.
