I like the interactions in the Nether resulting from both hunters and runner having access to a variety of strong but short duration potions. The prep work and durations involved with potions means you rarely get to see that kind of in-the-moment strategizing with them... I feel like that could be an interesting breakout twist. Maybe something like everyone getting a random potion in their inventory every few minutes? If you make them splash potions, you can get more use out of negative ones, and with the positive ones it adds an element of strategizing when you use them to avoid accidentally splashing the opponents as well. For the hunters, splash also means they can share if they're together, adding some incentive to coordinate. Your advantage as a runner would be the ability to steal unused potions when you kill a hunter. Maybe you could also get potions more often or of a slightly higher level.
