Fun fact: When C418 created minecraft's soundtrack, he had to base it surrounding the player gameplay, space detection and the limitations of the sound engine. And because of it, he ended up making some of the most memorable ost from videogames. The music in minecraft works through a randomizing algorithm, the day is based on 12000 ticks and randomly in one of those ticks, the function of reproducing music will get triggered. Because of that, they couldn't make an epic soundtrack like dovaking dovaking from skyrim, it would sound strange if it sounds randomly. That's why, considering that minecraft is a pretty slow game too, they decided to base the soundtrack on ambient music, so that maybe you would encounter a certain moment while playing, where you do something memorable and the background music starts to sound, making it an epic memory.

recently I opened up my xbox 360 again found it out in my garage collecting dust. The only game I had left on it was Minecraft Xbox 360 edition. Got nostalgic when I saw the 360 start up screen and got chills when I saw the xbox page so empty looking. My friends list still worked but I couldn't message anybody obviously. And all they said was last online 6 years ago. Some even said 8 years. Honestly, It made me cry. I remember no lifeing the shit out of that damn console. Let alone minecraft on it. If you have your old consoles somewhere, give them a boot up and play something on it. Trust me, it's one hell of a trip.

As a 34 year old adult who never understood why my kids liked Minecraft until I gave it an honest try. Sitting in my boat in the middle of the Ocean in my boat fishing with my dog Riley as the sun falls and rises....with this music in the background. Then it clicked....this game fucking rules.

All my nephew wanted was for me to play this with him. 5 years of putting him off because working full time and being in a master program (school) on the weekends, I simply always had an excuse not to play. One day he wanted to show me something. He built a statue of me in his world that took him 2 days. It didn’t resemble me in the slightest, but that was the kindest thing anyone had ever done for me. He and I currently play today. I’m 28 and he’s 11. We have many worlds and I don’t take one moment for granted. This game is special and always will be.

April 9th, 2010 - I get an old laptop from my father and log onto Minecraft for the first time ever. I spawn in the treetops of a jungle biome. I look around and decide to try and build a treehouse using brick placing my first block of many. After some time, I stop playing because of school work and lack of interest. August of 2019 - My father dies of cancer. He was in the hospital for months, I can't recall how long because I'm a shit son who didn't even see him in his dying moments. December 6th, 2019 - My birthday. I get a couple of larger gifts including a new acoustic guitar and clean out stuff under my bed. I find my father's old laptop. I clean it off and boot it up, see Minecraft. Update it and log into my old account which was written on a sticky note taped to the laptop. A wave of nostalgia hits me as memories of my childhood come flooding back, however, the one that stuck with me was when my father had tried to learn how to play Minecraft so he could relate to me more. I miss him, why can't life be as simple as it was back then?

I remember me and my friends play skyblock and our goal is to build a iron farm before christmas. Fastforward we finish building the iron farm and we build a temple made of iron to give respect to our friend that died due to his sickness. Now I want to visit temple but the server is down now 😔

We're so lucky we grew up with this masterpiece of entertainment

For me Minecraft wasn’t playing with friends. I just started playing with friends just recently and it’s awesome. For me Minecraft for 9 years was building this castle on survival, spending days and weeks to make my small village, trying to bring some villagers, the 1.6 update, blowing up village and mountains, but I was always alone. No one to build with me or to make their house next to mine. Minecraft is the loneliest game on earth, the most beautiful one as well. I have always played Minecraft and always will. I played Minecraft when I had a break down to cheer me up, played it till 5 am to finish this thing I was doing, killed the ender dragon and did ridiculous red stone stuff. For me playing Minecraft means being left alone in a infinite universe with infinite possibilities but you always end up doing the same things, and then Sweden starts playing and you just feel alone, at 2 am with no one to play with you but that’s ok because anyway you have to finish this project and if someday someone comes to your world you would like them to be impressed.

Sometimes little memories of your childhood can make a big impact on your life after a couple of years, I still remember me and my brother playing Minecraft back in 2014 and I still remember me asking my mom "are we all going to die?" while building a house in Minecraft at night listening to the Minecraft music. These faint memories of my childhood is the most important, and always will be.

We can’t change the past, or escape the future, however, it’s things like this that make us remember parts of our past fondly.
