Honestly, I've gotten so used to the new textures I keep thinking that the difference will be barely noticeable and then the video shows me the old blocks and I realize just how different the game has become.

The old emerald block texture gave me a whole wave of nostalgia.

Seeing the village in the background makes it a whole lot better

I remember the old nether... I am as old as minecraft itself, so I can remember playing since I was about six. Those were, and still are, good years.

My nephew asked if he could play Minecraft with me the other day. He didn’t have the game, so I gave him my chip to but in his switch so he could play it while I was playing something else. Now, he’s little, so short attention span, so when the game asked me if I wanted to update I decided not to, that I would do it later. I thought the update might just be the armadillo or something, but I was wrong. It opened up one of the first versions of Minecraft. The nostalgia felt so unreal, I almost cried. With all of the original textures, mobs, old seeds, everything. Minecraft has changed so much, it just felt so good to finally experience that again.

Old glowstone made me feel something i didn’t know was possible. Me and my cousin and little brother used to build the UGLIEST glowstone mansions. Sometimes we’d add bricks as accent blocks. We’d always test out the craziest things we saw online like tnt cannons and rapid fire arrow shooters in the walls of our glowstone mansions. I don’t talk to my cousin anymore, and my brother doesn’t play Minecraft, so it’s just me now.

New ones are good, but old ones are memories

The new textures are definitely better, but I can’t help but feel nostalgic for the old ones. Especially the old ores and nether blocks. Very cool seeing them side-by-side like this.

The old ones feel so much more cartoonish and simple, which makes for a pretty good analogy regarding growing up and seeing things in a more complex, less vibrant way. Really bittersweet

Imo the only old texture that looks better is the furnace. I have nostalgia for the old textures because I've been playing since 2012, but I just have to admit the new textures really do just look better.
