Well you can trap them without a bed But yeah the height limit/bedrock things work its just that no one would do that. Think about it ever since the pulsar came out not a single person has constantly stayed at bedrock or height limit to avoid it
can't you just break the minecart and quickly spam like 4 harming potions? (cuz that redstone doesn't look fast enough to go down to the bottom in 5 ticks (even like 10 cuz a human isn't a perfect tas))
