Minecraft RTX has been out for over 2 years, and it has some GLARING issues that seriously need to be addressed! Mojang hasn't been supporting this flagship feature very well, and it's a bit sad. It's so unfortunate that Minecraft ray tracing has been basically abandoned by Mojang now that they're no longer working directly with Nvidia. It seems more and more like the intention was never to actually finish development for it, but just to advertise the capabilities of RTX.

Even with RTX turned off, RTX GPUs have WORSE performance than older GTX GPUs! I just upgraded to a 3080 Ti from a 1060 and my performance in taxing situations (like with loads of item frames or mobs) is drastically worse on the 3080 Ti. 512x packs are also fine on a GTX GPU from 2017, but a 2022 RTX one just can't handle them. Players on my realm with RTX cards get low FPS (with RTX off), while players with GTX get solid 60fps. The GPU is definitely powerful enough, and downgrading to really old Nvidia drivers fixes the performance (proving the card CAN handle this), but also disables ray tracing support. It's a very odd bug that pretty much nobody has noticed because it is disguised as regular Minecraft lag. My bug report is MCPE-161517, maybe give it a vote!

This is true. RTX is to buggy to play, but I also can't go back to the high res packs I used to use due to severe lag on RTX cards even with RTX off :( Repeated testing showed that normal GTX cards didn't suffer the same lag.

Dude thank you I thought I was the only one. This is my theory, it wasn’t bad until bitcoin miners exploited gpus when the quality would start to DIP and the expense became grossly immense. Elon musk at the time was investing huge into bitcoin, and also encouraging everyone to join the mine, so when people started to buy as many cheap gpus for mining as possible, nvidia started pushing for larger sized GPUs that would crush the average gamer/consumer and not the already wealthy bitcoin miner. Microsoft has bought mojang at this point, and you see them advertise this HUGE graphics pack (which could have been pgti or a new engine altogether like in community mods) they instead required the new RTX in order to even experience the content… Microsoft in plain sight has made a deal with Nvidia to get as many people to buy into rtx cards as possible, instead of making an option for any other lower gpu cards or other brands… so Nvidia focuses instead of just selling top ends GPUs, to start up selling RTX over the real specs of the hardware they were selling, in comparison to the previous generations. My GTX 1070 is a solid device. I can run PgTI shaders on Minecraft with over 60fps perfectly fine… but not possible to even try on bedrock because I need a $1000 upgrade? I’m glad I never did lol considering how little effort was put into Microsoft’s side of the deal right?

@@stevexc222 It use to not be like that, Im sure it ran bad always but rtx cards use to run pretty good, I use to get like 160fps on 65+ render distance on a 2080ti and now it struggles to get 70ish on 45 render

It's really fascinating at the time Minecraft RTX is announced and some sample worlds have been presented by Nvidia, but a sad fact is that even though Minecraft is one of the earliest game to support ray tracing, it still works terribly when many games have already support ray tracing on 9th generation consoles and/or PC

It feels like RTX is a feature that mojang developed because Nvidia sponsored them. Once the advertising effort ran out, most of the development on it dried out. It still has some maintenance done to it, but mostly, it feels insufficient compared to its overall state.

I've got a fun bug for you. I finally decided to take on the Ender Dragon 19 more times to get all 20 End Gateways in place so I could start work on an End Base, and the 2nd time I killed him I got the amount of XP as if I killed him the first time (went from level 31-ish to level 69). But the best part: I got a 2nd Dragon Egg. I'm going to try and kill the Dragon a few more times this weekend to see if it keeps happening, but I'm curious to know if this has happened to anyone else.

I got a second dragon egg too! I have both on display and I also got a surge of EXP after the second Ender Dragon fight. Glad I'm not the only one with two dragon eggs. This only happened after the second fight though. When I was opening gateways 3 to 20, things were normal.

I think you can get the game to turn the 500 xp dragon into the 12000 xp egg-dropping original by quitting when it's almost dead or unloading and reloading the chunk it's in, there's a video where this guy makes a dragon farm and talks about this, hope this helps

One thing that I’ve not seen anyone else talk about is that if rtx is turned on and you go to the title screen, gpu usage still stays really high as if rtx is still on even though visually is isn’t

I can't imagine daily driving rtx on minecraft. Great for screenshots, but right now I have it off until the issues get fixed. For now, I guess my 3070 will have to wait for use from this game :( Control on the other hand is wonderful

reflection settings are entirely in the hands of the RTX texture pack creators. there was a bug where everything was reflective though, and some youtube people showed that off as if it was how it is when it's not but still the bugs are massive like the vid says. you should keep on holding off, just for a different reason

That's the great thing about the pc sphere. Upgrade the specific component whenever you like. I personally believe that RTX is just a marketing gimmick. Hopefully it improves in the coming generations of GPUs

I have a bleak theory that Nvidia wasn't on board with adding RTX for their competitors boards in what was essentially a joint promotion. Bedrock and Nvidia get to show off a shiny gimmick. Job's done!

I've noticed weird point light sources in RTX too. They're all over my builds and ruin the atmosphere of my smelting room. I still use RTX for the glowing ores, but the weird lighting in caves affects a particular cave I'm making a custom biome in. Totally breaks immersion. The candle bug is annoying too. Let's hope these get fixed. Also thank goodness the low memory thing is just a bug...

@@andrewtrentcurry You need to download an RTX texture pack, but I don't think that can be done on a console. If you want to use RTX on Minecraft for Windows 10, Defined PBR is the best RTX pack I've used.

I had massive stutters using both official ray tracing packs and unofficial packs like Vanilla RTX with my 3060 TI . The resource pack you mentioned by Madlad (Defined PBR is the name if anyone was asking) completely fixed this with it's VSYNC toggle. Was relieved that it wasn't a hardware issue.

My raytracing is completely busted. I loaded an rtx pack into bedrock and it worked twice then began giving me a low memory alert and producing black screens now it does work at all and the game crashes most times with rtx on, even after driver updates and reinstall of the game. I can still load high texture packs but rtx is totally dead. Still trying to work out what's happening.

The problem with rtx Minecraft is it's just not supported at all. If there was a vanilla rtx pack developed by Mojang like the texture upgrade pack was supposed to be most of these would have been patched along side base updates. These won't be fixed unless there's a dedicated team at Mojang just for rtx and another for rtx bug fixes. Unfortunately there's no profit for that massive expense so it's not likely

Another one is the fireflies bug. When you turn your camera, you can see the denosier trying to fill in the lights as you move. The result? Firefly effect. You can definitely see it it on the Neon District map. Incredibly rough.

A thing to note; a couple of bugs you mentioned only happen with the resource pack you're using. I'm using a different resource pack, and have different bugs, such as the spyglass giving a completely black screen.

I provided him with both resource packs necessary. Defined PBR usually comes with complete and total fixes for issues with villager and warden textures, and for improving the spyglass overlay, but in this vid a version of the pack that didn't have those fixes was used to show how broken the game is without them.

Iv noticed some of the problems mentioned in the video and they seem to be worse in 1.19.40. RTX no longer works properly at night so the Neon District RTX map is broken essentially, and I tested with a few of the other maps and all of them had problems at night. Cant say if this is true for the ray tracing in the Beta Program, not available to me through Xbox Insider.

To be honest as a bedrock player, Complimentary Reimagined shaders from a nobody for minecraft java looks aesthetically pleasing than a multi billion dollar company’s official RTX. An awesome video as usual Silent 👍🏽

The first issue with chunk not rendering correctly can be temporarily remedied by double pressing the semicolon key to for the ray tracing to render everything again.

RTX definitely isn't a polished experience. But I'm definitely not going back to vanilla. RTX is good enough to be worth it even if it is somewhat broken in parts. BetterRTX fixes a lot of the issues as well, so I'd eventually get that I think, as Mojang indeed doesn't seem to be fixing it. The little thing that bothers me the most is water clipping through boats though. So irritating...

My only issue is that everything looks glossy and reflective. Can't get around this. I use an RTX 3050ti and AMD Ryzen 5 5600H on a Legion 5 laptop and the performance is great, but the glossy look ain't it for me.

If you have java you should have bedrock also they gave it a couple months ago, I can tell you it is worth I play every day on my server with rtx jumping from on to off and the experience is awesome my house look STUNNING and all my builds are made around rtx reflection and lighting

It's a shame. I'm on this video in the first place because my crops have no textures, same for the campfire. People were paid money to make this feature. I'm enjoying my time with it so far overall. But I'm noticing some of these bugs in my world and it really takes away from the experience. I love using SEUS in Minecraft Java, but the performance hit my PC takes is astronomical (though that's just Java in a nutshell anyway). I'm enjoying being able to play above 60fps with this lighting. Come on Mojang!

Last week I spent $700 on a new RTX graphics card just because I wanted to checkout ray tracing in Minecraft. After 5 minutes, I've had enough of the glare. There needs to be a way to tone it down. A slider bar to adjust how much ray tracing you want. As it stands, I don't like it and turned it off.

does anyone else think its a joke how much mojang advertised mincraft rtx but failed to ever provide players with a ray tracing conversion of their own, to this day you still have to go to 3rd part websites and download and instal yourself to ever use it. youd think by now they would have an official vanila conversion from Nvidia and Mojang but nope. and as if that wasnt enough they seem to have consistently ignored support for it, ive noticed it get nothing but worse since launch, most the time these days it just crashes.

Came back to Bedrock from JAVA and RTX doesnt seem as good now as it was over a year ago. I remember being in the clouds in BETA and torches would glow off the moving clouds. Now it seems the clouds dont even move. Let alone RTX feels darker. I remember in the nether it seemed torches didnt light up very well and now even the over world doesnt seem to light up very well. Very odd. XBOX hasnt signed a contract with AMD yet for its next gen consoles and are talking to INTEL and Nvidia. Maybe its to get better pricing, but maybe they are thinking of one of their most popular games... Minecraft. Wouldnt it be AMAZING if the next conxole would be a RTX machine and Minecraft RTX actually matters? I VOTE YES! lol

i get this like smudging effect when i move around or a look past over a hedge rveryrhing will be blurry and stuff for a second, im using defined pbr withr a good nividia whats the problem?

The whole culling thing isn't even a RTX problem. It's a problem you'd see occur in any situation including general shaders. More of a bedrock issue if you ask me.

its a pretty normal minecraft issue. much easier to notice with huge shader shadows though. the culling of blocks/entities has been on all platforms forever, generally not an issue though

Don't upgrade! RTX cards are worse in Minecraft than older GTX cards, even with RTX off. We just can't win.

@@stevexc222 well didn't know that. But I like the 1070ti so I didnt have any plans in the near future. And my old card still looks pretty good with the right shaders and textures.

Hey I was wondering if you know how to fix this I was in the end and I logged out last night to go to sleep and when I got on today to play on that save it will load the world 4/5th if the way and it just gets stuck on generating at around the 4/5th mark. I’m on Xbox so bedrock. I’ve tried restarting Xbox, I did the thing where I’ve had a friend try to join it just says something like unable to join. I tried joining on my phone on a different Xbox account which also didn’t work said the same thing as to the friend thing. I’m not sure what else to do? I have a copy of the world but it’s all the way back from 04/13/22 which is so many hours lost. Any ideas to fix this?

Ill never understand it. It means when they originally programmed it feels like they didnt even test it out. Or they did teat it and said ahh good enough for releasing it. Where the hell is quality control?? Non existent
