Took a trip to Huntington beach to do some detecting around the pier, light crowds early but by 11am the beach was full of people asking questions so I had to go. The tide was at a +1 so not the best conditions, i was still able to pull a few rings.

Awesome! The Nox is killing the beaches that everyone else and their brothers are beating to death with the older units. Thats sweet! Congrats on the rings and the gopro! HH and ATB!

Dig'n The Dirty South yeah there was a guy using a Garrett nearby me that I was picking up a lot of stuff he was missing .. not to mention Huntington Beach is super hammered with metal detecting as a whole I was still able to find some rings. I'll head back there when the tides really low

I like your hunts....im thinking about a nox 800,my at-pro,especially around salt water hates it,do you find you get lots of phantom hits? and whats the numbers go up to? looks like only 39 or so and how do you tell from the trash? I don't seem to find an answer on any of ones videos....thank you
@TroutWest
@TroutWest 4 года назад
Highest number is 50 on the tid.... there aren't a lot of phantom hits but the equinox is very sensitive and will pick up the smallest pieces of aluminum slaw in the saltwater environment that can mean something smaller than a BB. Tone strength tells a lot with the equinox. It's hard to explain you just have to hear it in person to understand tho. I have a new hunt that will be posted very soon.
@paulwalker2625

@@TroutWest yea the tones on an at-pro like if your in zero mode the higher the better but you always pretty much know if your pulling out a penny,a dime or a quarter...the nickels are so close to pull tabs its usually a crap shoot,im sure I let lots go by from that possibility,i guess the fact that the equinox pops even the smallest items are good,and very useful in an ocean environment...ive gotta find better reasons I guess thou b4 I plunk down 900.00 on one,thank you for your quick response,i look forward to your new hunt,thank you

Pretty nice hits. You'll be able to start selling jewelry at the rate you're finding it ☺ 1960s coins are rare in circulation these days. Awesome and fun video!

Nice finds buddy,is the nox Quiet on the beach,or does it chatter when you hit the coil
@therrienmichael08
@therrienmichael08 5 лет назад
When you say hit the coil, is that when it gets hung up in the sand ? I tend to hover a lot and when it bumps the sand it'll chirp.
@therrienmichael08
@therrienmichael08 6 лет назад
They come by and say when it is open ? In the online manual I read beach 1 is for dry sand, beach 2 wet. Had mine a week now.
@TroutWest

michael therrien beach 2 is for submerged hunting. Beach 1 is for wet and dry hunting

Good video and I'm still trying to learn my machine. Lately I've been running it on park 2. Any recommendations on any good settings?
@TroutWest
@TroutWest 6 лет назад
Tennessee Adventures remember to turn off your phone's data while operating the nox and helps with chatter and the park modes. I was running in park mode 2 with speed at 4 sensitivity at 20. I haven't hunted a Trashy enough Park to tweak the iron bias. But I would definitely read the custom settings portion of the manual to make those adjustments if you are having issues with the trash. You can adjust the tone breaks. Remember the silver hits in the mid twenties up to the 30s. Gold rings can hit anywhere from 3 all the way up to the 12-15 range. I saw a video of a guy taking a pretty nice gold chain that is hitting at 4
@TennesseeAdventures
@TennesseeAdventures 6 лет назад
Urban Outdoorsman I appreciate you giving me some tips on the machine. I have the at max also and it's some adjustment having this machine also. Thanks 👌🏻
@TroutWest
@TroutWest 6 лет назад
Tennessee Adventures yeah there is a pretty good learning curve coming from any machine to this one. I highly recommend you take some things you've already found into your backyard and practice with those targets to see how they react to the machine. I found some pretty big differences from my minelab Xterra 705 to this. Study that PDF file manual that is available online. I'll have a park hunt posted up here in the next few days

Its been about 6 or so years but i lost a ring that i made out of a commemorative silver dollar,its one of a kind!!!i lost it right near magnolia and pch in the sand.i always had hoped a person with a metal detector found it.if any one found it please enjoy it. You'll know you found my ring by the letters on the inside of the band.its twice as fat as a normal ring and solid silver.
@TroutWest
@TroutWest 5 лет назад
If I happen to come across it or somebody out there metal detecting I know finds it I will get ahold of you from this post.

I was on vacation and pulled into the bus stop just past magnolia on pch and was trying to un load the car real quick and as i was throwing stuff out of the trunk into the sand my ring went flying off my finger into the sand.i watched it land in the sand and it sunk and i couldnt find it,the sad part about it is that i was going to bring my detector on that trip but didnt.i figure it was found years ago.i went back a few years later to search that spot but it looked like they re did the whole bus stop and made it bigger,with more concrete.i lost it on the north side of the bus stop on the west side of the street.as i said,i dont ever expect to see it again but i hope it has a new home with someone who knows what they have.its all hand made. The dates inside say 1787-1987.thank you for writing me back and good luck out there!!!!!

Cool video! Subscribed! Always wanted to do metal detecting. Great way to get exercise and get tanned at the same time. Where did you buy the detector and the rake/cage? What is the name/brand of the cage? Sorry I might not be using the correct terminology. Thanks!

Espesp welcome to the channel I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The metal detector was purchased from Cabela's online it is a Minelab Equinox 800. The San scoop is from a website called S Www.sitoscoop.com it's the 170 on their website. If you have any other questions about metal detecting let me know I can definitely help you get started

I just got my 800 and it looks like you were running it in beach mode 2 ? isn't that for underwater ? great hunt by the way.
@TroutWest
@TroutWest 5 лет назад
Beach mode 2 is for when the coil is submerged or if you're getting a lot of interference. It's less sensitive in 2 but can be better pending conditions

If you were to throw a baseball what hand would you use ? I am trying to figure out which hand to hold detector and the other with scoop. don't laugh I think my weak hand will swing better longer and the strong hand for digging which is my Right
@TroutWest
@TroutWest 6 лет назад
I throw right handed. I hold the scoop with my left arm and have it over my shoulder as I walk. I kick the shovel with my right foot holding with my left hand. It's not natural of course because the machine is in my right hand.

It's a lot like hiking except you find rings every now and then. what's the videos don't really show everything that's going on around you or the people you talk to along the way.. I typically only edit on good finds to cut to the chase the Hunts are very long sometimes you can go quite a while without finding much. If it's like that I see it is just getting outside and getting exercise
