I had the opportunity to detect with both the 900 and the Manticore before deciding to purchase the 900. The first day out with it I found two silver rings in a hammered park and decided to take it to another one that had produced old silver in the past. To my amazement the third target it was able to pick out of the trash was an early type 2 SLQ. I bought it for the waterproofing, since I hunt in the water of fresh water lakes.
The expanded VDI is a must for me. Because i started out with Whites machines which are pretty much similar in VDI. I used the Xterra Pro all summer. I found so many pieces of jewelry and coins with it. I want the 900 real bad....
The bolt thing is great' I was going to get a Xtera for a backup to my Manticore, but what the heck, at this point in my life have the extra Green :)) plus I can get the Military Discount Thanks for the Breakdown ...Seems like it will hold up in water better too 🧜🏼♂
Thanks I just purchased this one. My training class is Nov 3-5 atRye Patch NV..want to go try it out so I checked out your video before I use it for the very instant time..super excited!!!
Overall it’s a very good machine . I’ve been using mine mostly in the salt water . Work very good in salt water , just need to adjust sensitivity, recovery speed and ferrous depend on what type of beach your on. Would you have any good setting for park and sport fields.
I just bought the 900 while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. I'm still waiting for my Manticore from @KellyCO, which I ordered more than five months ago! I'm not sure what the hold up is at this point because Dentons Metal Detectors in Little River, SC, had two Manticores on his shelves. I guess KellyCO is just handling more volume. Anyway, I was so impressed with the fit and finish over the Equinox 800! I would love to understand how going from 40 positive VDI numbers to 99 is helping me identify my target better. It's just one more thing to learn. Thanks for the overview of the 900. Cricket
The 900 has to be better then the 800 just in the area of ergonomics and the upgraded lighter carbon fiber shaft. Its weight is distributed different to make it easier and balanced when swinging it. 😊
I have to say my favorite thing about this machine is how small it collapses and easy adjustable arm rest. Those are the only two things I'd change about my 800.
They will automatically save until you change them again for the mode you are in. There is also the personal profile where you can save your favorite program.
Great videos. I have the eq 900 and tried on my 24k bracelet it reads 41 and a friend tried on his and it reads 92 do you think I have a problem with my unit? I sent to minelab and they checked out and said everything is normal with mine.
It's hard to say, normally Gold will read on the lower scale but like I always say, you CANNOT depend on the VDI for accurate readings all the time. I depend moreso on tones. Try testing on other metals to see how they react.
I haven't used those machines but it operates just like all of the equinox series and is very beginner friendly. Contact Dan Willis at outlawmetaldetectors.com he will be able to give you details and get you set up.
been looking at beach detectors. ,got a gold monster. ,look for gold a lot. (live in california). gold monster doesnt work to good by water. have a good day
Just upgraded to a 900 and went to 5 different parks and got skunked could not believe it, had the 800 before and wish I kept it, I find the 900 extremely erratic with constant chattering even with the sensitivity really low DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR HEARD OF THIS THANKS? Jerry
I bought my 900 from Outlaw Metal detecting and was extremely pleased with Dan and his customer service. The biggest issue I've had with 900, coming from 800 is the vdi scale. Gold on 800 could be from 1- 23/24. On the 900, I've done air tests on gold and the only halfway consistent numbers are 35 and 50, and they usually have a bouncy signal in a range of + or - of 5-10. I've dug pennies from 45-70. Pull tabs come in around 28-39, so I'm assuming that's also gold range.
Agree partially but an air test should not be jumpy? If the test is consistent the vdi should be consistent. + or - 1 or 2 but what he’s saying might be a problem. I had 2 xterra 705’s. The second one I bought was erratic like he’s describing and I had to send it in for warranty. Whatever they did fixed it.
