In this video we compare the fisher gold bug 2 and the minelab gold monster 1000 and decide which on is best for gold nugget detecting or hunting. Prospecting for gold with metal detectors in Arizona .
Good morning guys if your GM 1000 Speaker is working when the headset is plugged in, send it in for repair because it should not do that... Also, the GM 1000 has a DD coil as opposed to the GB2 with a Mono making a difference in where the target is heard best on the coil so GB2 is hot all the way around the edge and the GM 1000 it is hot down the center of the coil front to back so the tip can be used to pinpoint and center. Great and informative video, GOOD STUFF, cheers Bill
We've got the two best producers of Gold hunting videos on the Net giving us advice ! I've watched almost of your Vids as well as Bill's. Don't know how to go wrong there. Thanks for the great information, input as well from "Nugget Shooter Journals" ! I'm a sponge, Keep"em coming. I'll be watchin' ! 😉😁😎
It’s not the equipment, it is the operator. Time and time again you guys prove it’s out there. You prove good team work will make a great day. Thankyou for doing this video
In my opinion, nuggets weighing 0.10 grams, with a depth of up to 15 or 20 cm, the Monster 1000 at 45Khz may have an advantage in terms of audio that is more present, and we must not forget that when the Gold Bug is used with a headset, there is an optimum advantage and this disadvantage in terms of audio disappears completely. Finally, the Gold Bug 2 at 72 Khz finds the same 0.10 gram nugget at a much greater depth than the Monster 1000 due to its greater sensitivity, not to mention the new, more modern model of the Gold Bug 2 with a viewfinder and a 14 inch elliptical coil, which allows it to go deeper into the ground. The bottom line: The Monster 100 is great, but I'd rather buy a Gold Bug 2. I think a comparison should be made at greater depths, like taking a 0.1 to 0.5 gram nugget and doing depth measurements in the ground to find out which one goes deeper, I think that would be a great comparison. Hugs and success!
Mine is aliptecal and mine is a ureka gold mine lab it has 3 setting with the flip of the switch 6.4 /20 /60 khz /and has slow ground track and fast trax plus boost switch pretty awsome for a VLF detector it finds gold 6-8 -10 inches down lots of setting on that old ureka gold oldy but wow keeps up with all the Joneses 😂for old dinosaur 🦕 amazing technologie for 1998 to 2017 don't make any more but thank about it that was a lot of years running that means something for minlab ureka gold
Hi guys, I have both, this is just my opinion. The Gm has more depth power but a real pain, you constantly have to pump pump pump to keep the ground balance. The Gb is not that way, once you pump and tune you are set until your ground changes quite a bit. For myself I prefer the Gb for the fact that it much more stable. Thank you very much Adam for your great videos.
Thank you very much great information on both detectors. I will also say you two and (Bill Southern) have shared more valuable knowledge on how the average prospector can put more gold in their pockets than any other channel i have watched. Thank you for taking the time to teach us about this great hobby. Stay safe.
Thanks Craig...We do try to give information that is actually useful in the field.....Some people like to drag sticks and rope through a wash and no one will learn anything from that... Be careful down there !
This is exactly the content I was looking for. Side by side comparison of these two machines with targets in the ground. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
I bought the GM1000 after watching lots of your videos and few other channels. I came to the same conclusion in my not so scientific comparison. The machine is awesome and does what I need. Thanks again for another great video.
Great video guys, love the comparison videos. I think I would go with monster myself. I have the gold bug 2, and equinox 800, which I used to grid a nice nugget wash, over 2 years. I thought I pulled every nugget out, a buddy brings his monster, and pulled another 100 small nuggets I missed, I was impressed...
Hi, your sense of humor is outstanding and off the charts. I would watch any video you made about anything! Pure entertainment and also educational most of the time. My hats off to you both, and I really wonder why your subscriber count is it 10 times what it is today. Please keep making the videos!
Thanks guys!!! Made up my mind! I'm doing exploration in Arizona, hot ground mineralization. Fun fact... at 15:18, tons of black sand in the left of field where you find the nugget!!! What a dead give away marker! Best!
That last piece of gold was a great example of how different pieces of gold just detect differently to I think that is a huge point to make here guys is that every piece of gold will detect differently depending on how it's laying and its shape gold content Etc Great video guys I bought the books you guys recommended and will definitely need to get out to the bradshaws someday
I just went through the debate on which of these 2 to buy and this is what I came up with. Even with a higher price, I believe the Gold Monster is a better value and a better detector. * It comes standard with 2 different search coils vs only 1 with the GB2. That alone would account for the cost difference. * 2 rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs with current promotion(1 normally) vs. the ongoing cost of 9-volt batteries to keep the GB2 running. I'd guess the big lithium-ion rechargeable battery packs would give a much longer run time than the small 9V batteries as well. * An extra battery pack that takes (8) AA batteries for another power option vs (2) 9V batteries which is the only option for the Bug, so if you're out of 9V batteries, you're up a creek without a detector. ; ) * A prospecting scoop is included but not with the Bug. * An LCD screen giving you visual as well as audio feedback, not available on the Bug. * Headphones are included with the Monster but not with the Bug. * A wall charger with adapters for any country and a vehicle charger vs none with the Bug.(since it's 9V only) * And the most important part, the new technological advancements (24-bit processor and auto ground balance) vs. none with the Bug. * And if you're current or former military you get 15% off with the Gold Monster, I don't know if Fisher offers this. The GB2 is without question, an excellent detector but given what I found above I ordered the Monster. There's no question that whichever you choose you'll have a fine detector. I hope this helps someone.
Great video. Had an original gold bug and just picked up a gb2 at an estate sale.was not suppose to work but cleaned terminals put in fresh batteries and she lived. Will be searching weaver area soon.
Awesome video guys! I've been out of MD'ing for a while and plan to get back into it. By the way, I believe the two 9-volt batteries in the Gold Bug II are in parallel to supply more current, for long life. So, it will work with one 9 volt but for less time. And of course, the frequency does matter. The higher Frequencies on these machines respond better to small gold, as opposed to a 7 kHz machine which would be better for coins and much larger gold. Later guys.
Really appreciate this video. I was so hung up on which one to get, I was contemplating buying both of them. I think I'll go with the monster for now. Thanks y'all!
My first gold detector was an old original Gold Bug. Then I bought a Gold Bug Pro. I liked the ease of the Gold Bug pro because you didn't need to keep ground balancing it. Since then I bought a Gold Monster 1000 and that detector blew the Gold Bug Pro away. I thought about buying a Gold Bug 2 but I just don't like the fact that you have to constantly keep ground balancing.
I owned a gold bug 2 years ago. I used it when taking a break from dredging. It was a ground balancing nightmare and I never found anything. I finnaly sold it.
GB2 w earphone jack, will shut off its public speaker! Monster w earphone jack, will still sound thru public speaker! I wear hdphns, to keep my GB2 quiet, esp in public. Respect..🤔
I myself started with a Gold Bug 2, but it was beat to hell. Then when I was looking at rebuilding it, my girlfriend said Merry Christmas early giving me a Gold Monster 1000. I can say it will find that mico nuggets of 0.02gms. Thanks for the video and keep finding that shinny yellow gold 💛⛏️😎
IBFBR, I always appreciate an honest answer, and your demonstration was awesome, I don't do gold prospecting, but I do follow your channel, keep those vids coming.
Great video. I traded in my Gold Bug 2 and Minelab CTX-3030 in on a new Gold Monster 1000 (and cash). I ran the GB2 for several years. I like the 1000 better. I noticed your friend plops down to dig. I hope he doesn't forget one time when he doesn't have his knee pads on and does that - lol.
Very good!.. Gold Kruzer the best.. the secret is to find a balance between man, environment and metal detector settings.. hearing is better than seeing.. ✌️
This was the exact video I was looking for. I was looking at the Gold bug pro or 2 but then found a video showing the Minelab gold monster 1000. I see Minelab has real expensive machines but I am just a hobbyist wanting to look for gold when we are on our vacation trips. Have the Fisher Ace 250 that I bought years ago but really does not do gold. I think I am going to go with the Minelab gold monster 1000. Thanks for making up my mind.
Really enjoyed the comparison . It sounds like you are next to running water. Also by the looks of the ground where you are standing you two are very thorough. Hahahaha
Yeah, I had to kick the audio up in editing so its static. We'll just say it's a beautiful river running in the background. 😁 Drywashing video with epic gold soon !
If you don’t do tons of aluminum welding get a Miller combo that has the gun to weld steel and a spool gun for aluminum. I think my cousin said a aluminum welder they bought solely for aluminum was 8k. The do weld a lot of beall trailers though.
@@mrgreenswelding2853 Thanks for the reply! So if I put 5356 aluminum wire and use straight argon is there anything else I'll need? I'd love to be able to do occasional aluminum fab without spending a fortune!
@@koltoncrane3099 I've been using a Lincoln SP170t for about 25 years and was hoping to find a way to weld aluminum without spending a fortune. Finding a spool gun kit for it has been impossible with it being so old.
Thanks guys. The biggest thing I've learn with the GM is to go slooooooow! I find many more targets. If I find myself going too fast , I slow down and go back over the area I did too fast. I find what I missed the first time.
Weight being a BIG factor the gold bug 2 pro's BOX Disconnects from the arm making it 95% lighter and then better yet you now have the ultimate underwater detector for creeks
Excellent video guys.👍 The comparison was very informative. 👌 the Fischer wasn't quite as strong on the one siganl.😢 I currently use the Gold Bug Pro with a 5x10 coil.😊 Much better for the coil overlap.✔Thanks for sharing your wealth of information.😎👍👍👌👌⛏⛏
Wow, good, honest, unbiased comparison. I'm partial to things built in America, by Americans. And, price is a factor, as well. And, I'm sorry, but after living with digital stuff nearly all my life, analog is somehow refreshing and satisfying. Thanks, guys. Good video.
In my country, The price of Minelab Gold Monster is 10 times higher than Fisher Gold Bug 2. So, i will choose Fisher because its cheaper and far better if we talk about Ground Balance. Perhaps Minelab's range is deeper under the ground, but.. i dont need that.
Well I ended up pulling the trigger on the gb 2 yesterday ,can't wait to start using it. I'll get the gold monster next year when I renew my GPAA membership for lifetime , they give em for free when you renew it. I'm thinking ahead 😃
The Gold Monster has a known fault where it only shuts off the speaker with certain headphones. Supposedly, you're to return it as defective, but I'd just as soon avoid the shipping delays by throwing a waterproof toggle switch on it and calling it a day.
I like the stand you put on your Gold Monster as it does not like to set flat with the stock rest. Like to see that up close...! Excellent comparison between the two machines. Mike in sunny Florida
Thank you for the video! I had been going to buy the gold monster but the audio jack not shutting off the external sound is a deal breaker. I don't want to be disturbing people if I decide to do some beach detecting. I also like the fact I can pop batteries in. You can always buy rechargeable 9v batteries as well.
Hello, I believe the audio jack problem was an issue with that earlier models. I don’t believe you will find that problem with any of the current gold monster 1000’s It really is a fine machine and easier to use than the gold bug for a newbie
Hi Guys... I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot !!! I've been doing research and watching a bunch of videos to learn the best equipment for the type of area I'll be hunting in so I'm leaning toward the Gold Monster 1000. I'm full time RVing now and getting ready to head south to Florida for the winter but I plan to head west in March so maybe I'll see you out there!!! Thank you for sharing your videos!!!
You guys should check out the Nokta Makro Gold Kruzer. It runs at 61khz, it's continuous threshold like GB2, but has 3 ground balance methods available. Big thing is it gets basically the same performance as the GM but costs $636 with wireless headphones & 2 coils, and is fully waterproof. I would be VERY interested in a Gold Kruzer head to head with GB2
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK my wife just approved me to get one this week! My whole point in getting it was to bring it to AZ so who knows, maybe I can bring ya mine :)
HEY MAN! First time watcher and new subscriber here. 1st off. Great vid. I live in Co. And have bought the at gold about a yr. ago. Last week I bought the super sniper coil. Man! What a difference. And you're so right about going too fast. I had to cut my swing down to about half. And who would've thought these crystal clear cold mountain streams would have so much trash in them? Needless to say, I find a lot of trash. I'm thinking it's all going to come down to just knowing your machine? Which we all know it takes a little practice.
Yeah, we all find trash unfortunately. I usually just dont show that in the videos lol... Where you detect plays a big role too...With that machine i`d only be detecting bedrock. Good luck and thanks for subscribing !
Have you guys ever thought about loaming. I've watched a few of your vids where you find coarse stuff and say," I'd like to know where that's coming from". With gas powered fencepost augers it might be profitable. The Aussies seem to make loaming work for them.
Awsome thanks guys😁 I love both machines.I do wish fisher would utilize the same electronics but design an updated box that's water resistant and dust.Im really curios which unit would give problems first either the gold bug 2 with its switches or the electronics of the monster? That's always a buying decision for me like which car brand (Toyota)😊.Also after watching this I will definitely check those boing boing sounds being new to the gold monster I've always thought those were hot rocks 😦
You can go to Harbor Freight and get a cheapo "Performance Tool" metal detector that has a quarter inch jack and plug in a Garrett headphone and save a ton of money compared to those higher end models. The Harbor Freight model doesn't need to ground balance...but do need to understand how its discriminator knob works to cancel out iron targets. The tone it gives when a target is detected doesn't sound like a damn digital pinball machine either...whereas my Garrett Ace 150 model is just a nuisance in that regard (I won't use it just for that reason). I'm surprised that you guys don't team up and one of you detect deep targets with a larger coil...and the other detects surface targets with a smaller coil. Have a little division of labor there and detect the places more thoroughly.
LOL You Two Bust Me Up... Truth... “The Real World” You All are All Day All Long Gold Hunters... Man 0 Man Both Dects. are Awsum... Bug =Love the Sound,Coil, Price, ForSure Monster = Computer 👍🏻 Both Speakers 🔊 ForeSure... Headphones Not Needed... No Mtn Lion Cheetah Creeping up on me 👍🏻🤠🇺🇸
Ha ha .... Yeah, the gold monster has a couple of other drawbacks like its inability to stand up , horrible ergonomics, and the coil sucks in my opinion...but the machine finds gold , and thats what we are here for so...
Great job guys! Seeing equipment in the back ground should we project that the over burden was dry washed and your nuggets were on the bedrock? I live my Gold Monster.Still in Colorado waiting for our desert buggy to get repaired but hope to be swinging a coil in the next 2 weeks down there. Great job guys. Got my blood pumping!!!!
was surprised to see you guy using kneepads, so many people out there in videos looking for gold but almost none of them were wearing kneepads. your knees will thank you at the end of the day.
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK they sure can, i worked at a job for 14 years, only a few of us ever wore them while i was there. they can make a world of difference around rocks and pointed pokey things in the ground.
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK We can hook up some time, you can contact me through Bill's forum BC5391, I believe you met some friends of mine a few years ago Alex, and his father. I live in Tucson.
@@archstanton9703 There are 2 prospecting clubs here in Tucson Desert Gold Diggers and the GPAA chapter. There is 1 metal detecting club, detectors unlimited which is strictly coins. What is it you are wanting to find, Gold, or Coins, that would determine, where you want to go.
Great video guys, glad you put it out there. I've seen this video numerous times but didn't apply to me at the time. Now that I'm in the market for another NuggetShootinMD, this video is up my alley. Currently I have Whites MX7 and the latest Whites Goldmaster 24K,purchased from my good old prospecting bud Jim McCollough. Love both Whites machines, they are beasts. Now, interestingly I bought the ML GM 1000 2 years ago when the price was $749 or so and sold it in eBay, why? I couldn't stand pumping that coil every few feet or so when the ground would change and it would wooowop, pump coil again and wooowop would go away. So long story short and looking back in hindsight, that machine was basically auto tuning with the pumps, I knew that and was just focused on the idea that "if it's auto ground balancing, then why do I always have to keep pumping the coil?" The MX7 and 24K isn't any different ,I simply just did it with buttons instead of pumping. So now I think I regret selling the GM1000 although I'm still fixated on Getting GB2 because of it's crazy 71KHz frequency, only one of it's kind, so I guess it's a bragging right with plenty of testimonials from other prospectors. Anyways thanks again for the vid
Thank you for watching that video. I could have added some more info to it like how well they discriminate. That GM1000 is a great machine and is easy to learn. Personally I cant stand the ergonomics of it. The GM1000 does handle the ground better than the gold bug II though, and it finds smaller deeper gold because of that. Some day I`d like to try the 24K
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK @I BRAKE FOR BEDROCK aaaaaahhhh, you took the words right out of my mouth, the ergonomics was horrible! I also couldn't stand the straight shaft that you had screw on all the time, buying and after market rod for another $100 was ridic It would be cool for you to get your hands on a 24K and play with it for a few weeks during your place ring, love to see you, use it in the area you are working. 45KHz on the GM and 48KHz on the 24K. There are only 2 videos I watch all the time from Whites, those are the only 2 I recommend, unless you have a friend that has one or maybe call out to your subscribers to ship you one for a few weeks. No need to reply,I'm just excited to hear the mention of the 24K since there is not much out there like you said.
@@archstanton9703 the GMT is a wonderful nuggetshooting machine and was my primary VLF for nuggetshooting prior to the 24K, stick with the GMT and learn it well,it's a heck of a machine, I got rid of mine only because the 24K came out and wanted the XGB power of the machine. Prior to the goldmonster and equinox 800,the GMT was the weapon of choice for many prospectors other than the GoldBug 2. Hope that helps.
@@miningmonkey760 I appreciate the advice. Do you recommend getting the 8x14 Sierra Gold Max coil for the GMT? I’d like to start looking for nuggets and meteorites. Thanks!
Great comparison guys and that last statement about the learning curve for the gold-bug 2 is probably for the less experienced detectorists the big difference between having the gold-bug 2 or the GM 1000. I love my GM 1000 but when I had the gold-bug 2 that was a great machine too. However I did not have as many hours as you guys have had on the gold-bug 2. I did find a lot of small nuggets with it but I think I find just a little bit more with the gold monster. Which is actually what your video came up with too! There's not that much difference other than experience with the machine. Great video guys well done!
My gold bug 2 was WAY too hot for my VERY hot ground...im actually really happy with my au gold finder although its very heavy..i scored it new on ebay for 420 shipped which i was happy with. Ill have to do a review someday but its able to handle my ground and would be a beach killer too
I have both I use monster in rain good but when not raining I have put bag over box but still cares me in rain I love both I prefer not falling asleep the gold but 2 I'm constantly ground balancing and changing mineralization so it keeps me more focused I feel, just my opinion and experience,Jr
Thank You, I really enjoy your channel. I"m an 'old timer' and I have been using The Fisher Gold Bug, the original one for years. My Gold Bug just seems to keep on working and working. How much better or different is the Gold Bug 2 in comparison? I would love to see a side by side comparison You guys are Great, Thanks again.
Thats strange... never heard of the issue with the 3.5mm headphone jack on the gold monster. My mates gold monster does NOT make sound through the speaker when he plugs in his 3.5mm headphones... How many people have actually had this issue, I am curious to know.
the gold monster is made for australia and the australian soil...you should not hear a sound from the box if you have pluged the headset in. send it back . and if you hold the middle botton for a few sek..it ground balance automaticly... and don't drop it to much lol ...
@@tomdandymusicandeverythingelse That was one of the very early models , and I dont think it has the " ground Grab" feature and I remember some of the early models having headphone Jack and coil issues too
Tom, The GM 1000 has the worst ergonomics of the entire fleet of detectors on the market. If they completely re design the whole thing, including the fat little coil, I`ll likely buy one.
@@IBRAKEFORBEDROCK I hear ya! Would be nice if the GM1000 could pinpoint with the edge of the coil like the GB2, instead of "its right here in the middle of the coil" Well, at least its only 6" round. :)
Honestly, if you plan looking for gold, the gold monster 1000 is the way to go. I pays to put a little more money in, and youll get a better product that finds gold better, and has a higher resale value.
Hi I have them both Prefer the gold monster also i like the Nokta AU hard to find that detector now but i like the old school knobs one glance and you see the settings. Tested them both at Rye Patch both equal Nokta does weight more
Okay so the 3.5mm head jack is standard every where out side of America and it doesn't sound with head phones plugged in so your adapter jack is f#$t up or faulty
learning my gold monster. the gold monster also has a battery adapter. and i'm gonna get an extra battery. (free). so i will have 2 lithium batteries and the battery adapter. got some short vids up. have a good day.
