not a new idea Woody .. had it ages ago .. played with it .. doesnt work as expected .. the coil itself is in a shock proof type carrier so is less sensitive to bumps .. and no you cant use other coils .. as they are very prone to being bump sensitive ... sorry about this ...

Woody would the standard coil benefit from a large cable and just leave the chip in coil still, love my 6000 and works great with NF coil but my standard coil runs so noisy it drives me nuts.
Any metal detector that is aimed at small gold and extreme depth will greatly benefit is the capacitance is minimised throughout the coil design and that includes the coil to detector cable, even better would be better to use two air space litz wires with a turn per inch or more to reduce all losses but radio noise may be a problem ..using litz made like old tv cable 300 ohm can drop capacitance from 130 pf to 10 or 20 pf.
Hi Woody, I have a gpx 6000 detector, it works well for small targets. Please tell me which metal detector is better to buy for large gold at depth. Sd 2000, sd 2100, sd 2200, gp extreme, gp 3000, gp 3500, gpx 4000, gpx 4500 of these. Which one is better without modification. And which one is better after modification?
Since the magnetic field is strongest where the wires are located(edge of coil) it means that the audible signal must be inverted. Meaning as the target voltage drop the audio increases. This is why DD came about. There the wire bundles overlap. This is what creates falsing on DD coil outer edge on one side of the coil. I see only one reason for using DD coils and that is that it can make it easier to read the receiving signal in the eye shaped area in the middle. Since all coils use thin wires rather then thick wires they have high capacitance. The longer the wire the higher the capacitance. This means that with a one watt output a large coil generates a weaker magnetic field then a small coil. So unless the machine has a regulated output it will not go deeper in the ground then a smaller coil. The only benefit is that it covers more ground. When I look at youtube videos I have noticed the impatience most detectorist's have in their swing pattern. For such a person a huge coil is better. It will not pick up small items deep though only large. Unfortunately you can't have a dual sending wire set up inside a coil. It's common that you walk over coin spills and failed to notice all coins but one. Then when thoroughly sweeping the area you will find a bunch more that you initially missed. It makes you wonder how many targets you miss. I remember one time on a steep hill side I detected the area and found nothing. When walking over the area a bit later I stopped to admire the view and while standing still I got a signal. In an area of 5 by 5 meters I picked up 10 deep 100-200 year old coins that I previously missed by not being meticulous! This is the reason why no field ever gets hunted out.
That should work on a mono coil using a chip from a mono..!! But if you use the 14 inch DD coil.. The chip must be different as when you connect the DD to the 6000 …it recognizes a DD COIL AND a symbol on the screen 📺..COMES UP..!! So would you have to only use a Mono..!! Or only a DD coil..!! Or can you put in both chip in the data line.. or Dongle..? What do you think 🤔. Cheers Tony.. Fellow RU-vidr and prospector..
Would there be different chips for the mono or DD? Or does the detector sense the extra coil in a DD? Most people use only mono coils so it may not even be an issue for 99% of users, I just have not tried all the configurations and when in 100 years i make enough from RU-vid i will buy a 6000 and strip it down.

Thats interesting they put chip in coil as the X-coils utilised a patch cable from a chip in connector. So a huge disincentive to use your gpx coul collection - in my opinion look at the electronics in it - not worth $8k probably more expensive gear and design in CTX which also has variable frequency and 2d object mapping - but u do agree that the 6000 really amplifies any threshold bump very well on fly dirt but my 7k will also find in HY/ Normal but is very time consuming to pinpoint - theres even less inside a Gold Monster as had to pull apart to fix a bung headset plug successfully - has ribbon connectors between boards.
