The gray gasket is silicon so by using any silicon spray or grease on it will attack it and cause swelling. There is a kit to prevent leaks for the CTX battery using vacuum the same as under water cameras. I have a video of it on my channel.

may be some silicon spray on seal in the battery will help it soften up and make it easy to clip up just as i sent you got the spray out ha ha

it looks the same unit as the 3030,they had issues with leakage so everybody put the next size up o ring its a lot tighter than the original,may have happend here
