Garrett dropped the ball again with the Axiom. Not good on Aussie ground and no depth, also pretty unstable overall. X-coils offer many options to the 7000 making it more versatile. Adaptors are around $250 by a reputable guy in South Australia. Their coils are lighter with the variety of concentric, DOD, spiral DOD, concentric and round. How they got to making them work in every type of ground - I don't know but having used them, I can attest to their performance, sensitive, stable, deep and light. Worth every cent of the high price. I found more gold with a 7000+x-coil than any other detector - coil combination. All I know is if you are running an x-coil, you are finding more gold than the person that isn't. I have done many tests with the 7000 and it never fails to impress!
If that is the case then some serious redesign work needs to be done here, the Russians moved their operations to Belarus to get around the export embargo, but to make a better coil than the Australians is a right free kick in the cod’s.
Hi Peter. You might be interested to know that your modified GPZ 7000 (the second one you did that was unmodified in your original side by side air test video ) has a 15” concentric xcoil running on it at present. (The adapter dongle cost $200.) It hands down beats a standard GPX 6000 running the standard 11” ML coil. In one such instance, I have pulled several sub gram pieces from a patch supposedly ‘flogged’ by the 6000. From various depths as much as a foot (12”) deep.. “I’m my opinion…..” This combination is lethal and my detecting buddy continually shakes his head in amazement at what I find in the old “hammered areas” around Bendigo.. I have pulled out 103 pieces of gold totalling 22 grams from one such prominent gully… If I mentioned the name, everyone would be familiar with it and probably wouldn’t believe me… I have no reason to deceive anyone… I’m just singing your praises in terms of the 7000 upgrades.. It might have been better not to have said anything about this new detector & just hit the market with it, like the Algoforce. Bit late now though as you have cast the hook but without saying much.
No worries. I saw that one, but was a bit keen to hear more about the coil adaptor cable. I don't have much room in caravan, so the SDC is a great option, but to also add a range of coils apart from the 8", and have it work sounds very useful.
