The African subcontinent has a wealth of economic
mineral and gemstones deposits. This talk will highlight
and illustrate some of these famous localities and the
specimens they have produced.
Bruce Cairncross, emeritus Professor at the Department
of Geology, University of Johannesburg, is a well-known
author and photographer of minerals and gemstones and
has published eleven books and over 100 articles on the
subject. He is regularly invited to present public lectures on
southern Africa’s minerals and gemstones.
