I’m not much of a gamer but my husband is. We love your channel and have watched your videos for years. I was diagnosed with stage 4 “incurable/terminal” breast cancer last year. Having had a bowel resection myself, I will never stop asking for a discount on my colonoscopy. The best response I have had was my most recent doctor who said, "You pay by the hole, not the distance travelled."

Never thought I'd cry happy tears for a man I have never actually met, but feel like I know as if hes an old friend. This is incredible news!!!

"Cancer free". Those words have brightened my day!

Short version is: Man trades flesh for food, shits himself while pretending to be a knockoff cyborg & finds the whole experience exhausting. See video for context.

We should be renaming these episodes to: "TMI with Jingles!" Glad you're alive Jingles, we've lacked leadership down in the salt mines.

My father went into the doctor the day after Christmas 2001 and they found a grapefruit-sized tumor in his colon. He had emergency surgery and had a long recovery after. The following year on the day after Christmas, they found more and he had to go under again. He ended up living until 2015, but he was never the same. He had to have a colostomy bag and would never do anything his doctors said, and it changed who he was. When you first announced your diagnosis a few months ago I was stunned. Today, I feel an equal flood of emotions for you and I couldn't be happier to hear you say the words "I'm cancer free." God bless you Jingles, and Rita, and all of your doctors. I'm so glad technology has progressed so that your experience, while not pleasant at all, isn't what my father had to go through.

When I stayed in the hospital for a couple days to have my gall bladder removed, I commented to the nurse that I could not get any sleep because of the noise and interruptions. Her reply was, "Hospitals are not for resting."

Whoop whoop. He's back and looking good.

I am *SO* happy for you, Jingles. Over the last few years, you've touched my heart many times, from laughter with you in your "World Of..." videos to your RL stories in that other series you did (when you were deep into Jurasic Park games). And now, again, my heart is warmed by this news. Congratulations, sir, and I hope for your continued recovery and more normal life. 👍

Great to see you on the mend. Fun fact about the "surgeons calling themselves Mr": this dates back to the time when surgery was performed by barbers (particularly on the battlefield, where most forms of surgery took place for obvious reasons). They had the tools and the dexterity, but usually no formal medical training. Actual physicians never wanted to do surgery, and left them to it. This is also why British barber's shops have the red and white spiral shapes outside them - they represent surgical bandages drying off. Surgeons now get more medical training than almost anybody, barbers retained the tools of the trade but reserve them for head and facial hair, and surgeons call themselves "Mr" as a nod to the non-medical origin of their specialism.

I had something similar over Christmas at Mayo Clinic. Went in with appendicitis and came out with a hemicolectomy. The pain when I coughed or sneezed was the worst. Pooping was a bloody adventure as well. I'm so glad you are healing!

Thank you for the update! Those of us who have followed you for years think of you as a friend as much as a RU-vid content creator. I must admit, I chuckle every time I hear you referred to as "The Old Man" as I am older than you. I have never been to get checked myself but hearing what you have been through, has made me rethink that decision. My thanks to all the hospital staff and to Rita, she knows me as Lemingking67. It can't be understated how awesome nurses are - I've been hospitalized multiple times & those nurses have to do ungodly things, God bless them.

Glad to see you are making a good recovery. Surgeons are called Mr due to tradition - the physicians were the clever ones and had a degree but the surgeons originally were Barber Surgeons and held no such degree. However this changed many years ago and surgeons now go through the normal medical degree and then specialise. Mr is a type of inverted snobbery which signifies they have passed the Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons exams (FRCS). My father and grandfather were both surgeons - my eyesight precluded that so I became a GP. (Retiring on Wednesday!) The interesting other fact is that most doctors do not have a doctorate - most will have a MB. BS. (the S is sometimes a Ch depending on which university you went to). This is a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. American students do a MD (Doctorate of Medicine) so could be regarded as Doctors and indeed US surgeons are usually called Doctor. Anyone doing a Ph.D. in this country can call themselves Doctor - my daughter is doing one in Ancient history though I would frankly suggest that asking her to treat you might be a mistake!

As a paramedic who has enjoyed your videos over the years, your diagnosis was numbing. I've attended many patients with similar diagnosis, and I've wondered how you were. I'm glad to see this, and hear of your positive news. Sounds like a right pain in the arse though ;)

Glad they had you on the Dillaudid pump! That helped me make it through the night and my first day in the hospital with a cancer surgery in the abdomen. My God, you don't realize what muscles you use till they cut you open and you goto move! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

For only a week after surgery your doing very well, my father had bladder cancer a few years ago and they made him a neo bladder by using part of his intestine as a new bladder his recovery was quite rocky, but glad your doing well the breathlessness thing will pass.

Sadly i cannot say that we have good doctors in my city, most o them were either new and with no experience or old and grumpy, very few that actually worth praise. Many of our doctors went abroad, medical care in Croatia is going from bad to worse every year. Once again, great to have you back in your lair, take as much rest you need and when you are ready, start working again, and say meow(Hello) to Akizuki:)

This is fantastic to here! We want our gnome overlord to live another 100 years. Im not sure what the doctors in UK say but the doctors here in the US say after a surgery like that you need to walk as much as you can handle. It might be slower than molasses on a cold day and it might only be 20 meters at a time but walk. It will keep the muscles active and working, it will help recovering and help you slowly get that strength and endurance to do normal tasks that us as human beings are use to doing. My wife had major invasive stomach surgery a couple years ago and the doc told me the same thing. She needs to walk as much as she can handle. The first day I think we went about 30 meters down the side walk and it only took a half an hour to go there and back but we walked and turned around. Then she rested and slept for 2 hours.

That's great news, really glad to hear that. Take your time and recover some strenght. We rather wait feew days more and then see you in full "Jingles mode" again. Take care man.

Good man Jingles! I had surgery (not cancer) across the lower stomach (for a hernia) and it still surprised me how much of an improvement each day would bring. Enjoy the more than deserved‘holiday’ - god bless the NHS
