You can only commit cards to skill tests if they have at least one icon that matches with the skill test being performed. So a card that has no icons cannot be committed to any test, unless it has a specific text that states otherwise, of course. Now Minh's ability can add a wild icon to cards, but only after they have already been committed. If her ability said "when" instead of "after" that would allow her to make any card eligible to be committed to any skill test, but that's not the case. BTW the matching icons only rule is important in cases where you can add another skill value to the skill you are testing. For example if you use lockpicks you add your agility to your intellect skill, but that's still an intellect test, not an agility test. Not only you are not allowed to commit cards with agility icons only, even if you commit a card that has both Intellect icons and agility icons, only the intellect icons must be considered (plus wild icons, if present). Other effects that boost skills, like hyperawareness, still work though.
Excellent review of Minh. I was surprised to learn about True Understanding. I completely misunderstood that card and thought it only let you do tests on agendas/acts, so it never made it out of the binder. Now I see why it might actually be pretty helpful.
Ever since I saw Minh perform as a flex alongside Norman, essentially Fire-axing and aciding away at enemies while picking up clues simultaneously, when the old professor tried to gather his spells, I found that her cardpool is a little bit wasted for a pure cluever-role.
I think that having access to surviver makes Mihn a lot more powerful than she otherwise looks, take 2x deduction, scrounge for supplies, resourceful, sharp vision, look what I found and ancestral memory for some serious clue hoovering potential.
Your conclusion was right, you can't commit Winging It. You could opt for Cornered as a way to discard it, but I don't think that's a great card for Minh.
For inquiring mind, do clues on an investigator count as being at your location? (I know it doesn’t count as being ON your location for Roland’s signature card, but I’m confused if it’s the same for inquiring mind).
