For me the winner is the YSL. I feel the leather is more durable. The price is fantastic. You could buy almost 4 toy LouLous for the price of one Chanel mini! And the fact that the YSL chain is not only adjustable but removable opens a ton of possibilities. You could get so many different looks by adding different straps. Since I never resell my bags, the resale value doesn’t enter into my decision making. Both are great bags but I would most definitely choose the YSL. Great video!
Hey Vivienne, So, it would be the Chanel for me. I just love the things that have STOOD the test of time. Both are expensive bags to me. Interesting though, I have an old Picasso mini bag (thrift store find) from years ago... you would not believe the compliments I received... it's not the "IT" designer anymore but I Love it. I believe this ysl Toy Lou Lou will be a stunner to wear 20 yrs from now. Awesome, comparison hun... ALWAYS SO HELPFUL. 💕🌸🌼🌸
I love both; the Chanel mini is probably may favorite bag, and the style I have the most of in my collection (I currently have 4 after selling two thinking I had too many minis, and now I regret letting those go because they are such great little bags). But YSL is excellent value for money for more of an every day bag. My bff has that exact bag (so black toy Lou Lou) and it worth very single penny. Chanel minis hold their value so well, so even though it is over triple the cost, most people won’t be disappointed taking the splurge 😎
Based off your many videos I’ve been watching I finally purchased the ysl toy loulou & I absolutely love it! I was worried about it not having the adjustable straps since I’m short & it actually fits perfect & is the perfect length! I love how you can wear casual or dressed up.. definitely my new go to!

Thanks for the video Vivienne. I recently gave up my Chanel rectangular because I feel like it’s just a bit stiff for all the items I want to stuff into my purse. I hands-down feel like the YSL is softer and would fit more so I go with the YSL.
hi Viv! Two great bags. Personally, I like chevron quilting more than diamond in chanel bags. Maybe that’s why I love the toy loulou. YSL win on value, usability and possibly give more choice of SLG that you can fit in but the Chanel CC and strap are sooo lovely.( Hubby just saw the prices and asked if YSL means You Spend Less; thinks he is hilarious) Great comparison Viv and you are looking very smart.XX
Yayyyy it’s my requested video, thank you so much for doing this! 😘 Fabulous review as always 👍 I thought owning the Toy Loulou would appease my craving for the Chanel Mini, but it hasn’t!!! The Toy loulou is an awesome bag and probably the best value luxury mini bag out there, but that Mini Chanel just has that little something extra, and such a classic and timeliness style. The price tag is the only thing holding me back (apart from the fact that I have 4 other Chanel bags 😁), but let’s see how long I can hold off before finally caving in haha 😆

Chanel bag because she’s a classic but the Loulou because I would use her every day!! I still would love to see a video with the all the Zoomoni inserts you use for certain bags. 🙏🏼

Hello Vivienne! I loooooooove your Balmain blazer!! It looks so sharp and stunning on you!! In regards to the YSL and Chanel bags, I want to love the YSL, but I still favor the Chanel. I need to keep an open mind because so many people do love the YSL bags and have nothing but praise for them. For me, I do like the contrasting hardware on the Chanel bags, and who knows may because my last name begins with a "C". The shape being more rectangular appeals to me also. I am however, getting somewhat discouraged with the price hikes and waitlists from Chanel and also LV. It may be time to give YSL a better look see.
Great video Viv - I love love love your blazer!! I have to be honest, I can’t find a style at YSL that I’m drawn to, just because they appear so similar to Chanel or other styles LV Pochette Métis etc. What are your thoughts on this?
I think many people (including myself) end up going for YSL because their bags look very similar to Chanel bags but at a much lower price point and possibly better quality, hence it appears to be better value. However Chanel lovers are loyal and stick to Chanel for its heritage, classic look and resell value.

I love the Chanel Mini Rectangular bag. Can I ask your advice as to which I should buy? a Chanel Black mini rectangular or a Chanel Black Classic Wallet on a Chain (WOC) given that I already own a Chanel Classic Medium Black Caviar bag.
😂, I hear ya hon 🥰, I find it pleasant hon, but of course it always depends on who you get on the day 🥰, it’s hard to get the mini you want as they are seasonal, but you could always try on the second hand market too hon and no you don’t need a purchase history 🥰❤️

Do you or any of your subies get your handbags insured and if you do is it a separate insurance you get specifically or can you put them on your house insurance policy? Thanks ☺
Hi Viv! I have a Chanel mini rectangular in caviar bag and a Chanel mini square in the crush pearl lambskin bag (both black) but still really want the toy loulou. Is it redundant to get the toy loulou? I also have three other Chanel mini rectangular bags. I just like mini bags lol
😂😂, I hear ya hon, I use my toy lou Lou for more casual situations like running to the shops etc, so for that reason I would say it’s worth it, on occasions you don’t want to chance your more expensive bags eg rain 🥰❤️
My Toy Loulou doesn’t have a wrist strap or thin middle slip pocket either. I believe ours is the new “Mini” version which replaced the older “Toy” version.
