Hi welcome to another video, My Mini Cooper R50 power steering decided to give up working (apparently a common problem with minis the electric power steering pump fails) so in this video I replace the failed one with a good second hand one. Please watch to see how i go about fitting it and to see if it solves the problem, thanks for watching.

Please Subscribe to my channel - I have lots of machines which means going forward I will never be short of content, lots of my videos are small engine related but I do have bigger vehicles to which I also like to work on and improve.
JUST TO NAME SOME-
2x Land Rover Defenders, Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo Wagon, VW T4 Transporter, Ford Transit Campervan.
5x Puch Maxi Mopeds, a Lambretta Scooter, a Yamaha MX100 motorcycle.
Also lots and lots of garden power equipment. All this will give me years and years of content, so with all that it makes my channel well worth Subscribing to 😀
A bit about me I grew up around engine’s as my dad was always a car mechanic and that’s how I learnt about them and liked working on engine’s. As the years have gone on my passion for working on engines has grown even more, unfortunately for me my dad slowed down working on cars when I was around 20 in the 90s, So the career I always thought I would have didn’t materialise and I become a gardener, but what do gardeners use? Power tools so that’s when I learnt all about power tools small engine, 80% of my work tools Mowers, Strimmers, Hedge Trimmers, Blowers were bought secondhand and most of them broken and I fixed them up. Most have been high end tools, Honda, Stihl, Kubota, Kawasaki, Husqvarna etc etc the list goes on I’ve worked on loads and usually managed to fix tools that were destined for the scrap heap. I have learnt so much and I pass a massive amount of that on in my videos, so watching my video could save you a small fortune in repair bills, so another great reason to subscribe to my channel.
Going forward I have plans to faze out my day job and work with the engine stuff much, much more that’s my dream, I also like restoring machines as well. So I’m always adding more and more tools to help me along the way. So the more support I have on RU-vid means that my dream may come sooner than I think it will 🤞 I’ll do my bit with the video if you can do your bit to help it could be a great journey forward, thank you for watching my channel I massively appreciate it 🙂👍

Nice work, looked tight in there but much much cheeper than a garage. Very easy to follow.

Good job 👍 I had to do this on my 2010 Chrysler Town and Country a few months ago but couldn't make a video, there was too much cursing coming from under the van. 🤣

I changed the pump on my mini r50 but the steering is still a little bit stiff like it was b4, what seems to be the problem ? Do I need to change the whole steering rack?

Hi Gary, how I wish I had a ramp, but I got it done. Worse job yesterday my dad bought a Volvo XC70 which needed a brake servo fitted, I ache today 😫 the person got quoted £900 to fix we did it for £60 ( part cost off ebay ) there was just no room to get the old one out or new one in. We man handled it in, wasn’t the correct way but we did it 😂 brake now work great, tough job though. Thanks for watching 🙂👍

@@menditman2004 Strange?? Maybe that's why it failed. There should be a cooling fan directly under the power steering pump. Being right there, the fans usually have a fairly short lifespan from all the road grit. When the fan locks up as it will eventually, the pump is next to go.

From my experience it doesn’t make much of a difference, it’s been fine since the repair. I think people worry about this sort of thing to much, it’s like engine oil for years I’ve just used what I have and engines have been fine.
