had a quick question, when you replaced were you able to use the buttons from the steering wheel to control the stereo?

hi -- did you also switch out the speakers? i just bought a mini cooper s countryman and it doesnt have bluetooth and the sound is lousy so i was wanting to upgrade the stereo and speakers and wondered if you installed speakers or went with yours -- this video is so helpful! let me know about the speakers -- i never knew that carplay is compatible with iphones either!

Seems like the Speedo is on the outer ring of the head unit.

Hi, Thanks for the video it's convincing me to purchase one for me. I only have a few questions if you can help me. 1. May the question will be a little silly, but in the ebay link where do you choose the silver version before purchase? Because the black version won't work in my car. 2. The speedometer works good? How indicates the speed, by light? I really appreciate if you can help me. I have a Mini 2009 too. Regards

Hi, thanks for the video! I'm really wanting something like this since Mini says my stock radio cannot be upgraded to one of the digital Mini radios. How is it working for you since May? Any problems? Who did the installation? Did you need any extra parts (wire harness, etc.) to make it work?

Does your aftermarket radio allow you to set the cars clock? My aftermarket can't set my car's clock so I get an error CC-ID 167. Also my speedometers first bar (0 bar) always stays on even when the car is off.

How difficult was this to install? Or did you have a shop instal it? Also, does Bluetooth work for music? That's really a make or break for me.

Where do you plug the iPhone cord in to let it sync? Does the new unit have a usb plug or do you use the one in the mini?

Hi Mike :) I didn't show it in the video, but you'll also purchase a 12V Carplay USB Dongle. That connects to the unit and has a usb port for your phone charger cable. Each time you connect it to the CarPlay app, you'll have to connect your phone to that dongle cable. I will add the link to the USB dongle in the description. Thanks for watching :)

Hi Kamden :) This particular unit didn't come with a microphone. Once it's installed it picks up on the regular audio from my Mini. I believe since it already had bluetooth it was an option. So once it's installed I'm able to speak to Siri and make phone calls and it's heard on the speakers. I hope that helps. :)

It looks like it actually has a mic (or maybe 2) on the front face of the unit, so I'd assume no external needed.

Why u have engine light ? Is it because u install it ?

With my Mini the engine light is on whenever the car isn't fully turned over. So if I insert the key and turn it onto battery power the check engine light comes on

Did you have to purchase any wire harnesses for this to keep your chimes and steering wheel controls?

Hi there! No, the stereo comes with all the necessary wires to basically plug in like the original. When it's fully installed the chimes and steering wheel controls are the same. You're able to use the steering wheel controls on the radio and bluetooth as usual. When you're on the CarPlay app you have to control that through the touch screen except for the volume (You can use both the steering wheel control or the regular volume knob). Hope that helps :)

Art Forward TV do you have Harmon Kardon in your car? I was told by both the seller on eBay and my installer this isn’t compatible with Harmon Kardon and won’t work. I had to cancel my order due to that.

Oh man, I wasn't aware of that. I don't have Harmon Kardon on my car, so I didn't need anything additional for installation. I'll try to do some research on the schematics to see if I find any info that would be helpful for your HK system.

Art Forward TV I was told that Harmon Kardon uses a fiber wiring and the after market stereos don’t have it. My installer said I’d have to re wire my whole car. I just wondered if yours had it. Thanks for the response.

@@artforwardtv1844 Hello there, were you ever able to find any instructions with integration for the Harmon Kardon? I purchased this same unit from the same seller but didn't think Harmon Kardon would be an issue as it was advertised as plug and play
