Just wanted to give a general update down here. The upload gap was due to me having a very, very stressful 2020. I moved 4 times, went through a lot of personal trauma, and so I needed a lot of time to get my bearings in order again. This video isn't a culmination of the last 7 months, it's a relatively light video I made in a short duration and i'm aiming to upload more routinely without worrying about 1-upping myself each time. I don't wish to go into detail on what exactly knocked me off my horse, just know i'm doing much better now- I'm talking to a therapist regularly, i'm eating well and socializing more than I used to, and i'm not as deeply entrenched in negative thought patterns anymore. Thank you for those who continue to follow/support me over the years, I know i've gone through lots of different 'phases' of content and activity and i'd like to continue growing and posting rather than being the type to disappear without any notice.
Chao Resort Island if you want a fan-made stand-alone Chao Garden. I personally think it's not as good as the adventure games because what made Chao Garden fun for me, was that it was a stop from all of the action of the Sonic Levels, and a reward for collecting shit in those. The fan game is just the chaos and it gets a tad boring, but that's just my opinion...on the flip side, there are more mini-games for the chaos to play, so there's that.
I can't wait for someone to make a minigame collection where you can unlock an entire 40-hour feature length videogame with an entire plot and fleshed-out combat system.
The Yakuza Series as a whole is Masterclass in balancing the goofy side activities with hard hitting serious mobster drama plots. Hell in Yakuza 6, Kiryu has lived such an insane life with such crazy characters that there's a Bar Minigame where Kiryu has to make normal conversation and learn how to be a civilian and make normal friends. It's actually riveting, I swear. The same with his short Taxi Driving career in Yakuza 5. You just drive people to their location but have to make small talk or avoid traffic, and again, absolutely riveting minigames. Half the time you spend in this series isn't even gang related, it's just Kiryu hitting the town and having a good time.
6:55 ya know before fallout 4 released i remember seeing a bunch of people who said they'll mod in more mini games, six years later I've yet to see mini game mods for fallout 4.
lol same it's just that everyone says "oh cool, minigames! I'll grab them and play with them later!" 40 hours later players either quit the game to never play again or love it and do everything BUT play the minigames lol
it's because bethesda in their infinite wisdom made the games in an engine that is even more dead than the one they use for TES and fallout games : fucking flash...
@@neorevolutionnar for the last time the Frontier proved two things: that story modders are sex offenders and that it is entirely Bethesda’s fault that their games are buggy nigh-unplayable trash, not the engine.
The nightmare sequence was also in the base Metal Gear Solid 3. If I remember correctly, when you were in the prison cell you had to save while lying down on the bed. Then restart the game. When you load up your save, it would start the demo. You would know if it worked as well if you checked your save file icon on the memory card, it would have unique red flowers next to the gun rather than the standard white flowers for the save icon. Very cool, subtle details that blew me away back then.
I literally started listening to Radiohead today and I hear you singing it in a video 6 days ago This is additional proof to the Titanfall 2 case that FUNKe is indeed stalking me
that was yesterday for me bro I was watching FUNKe and Lazypurple vids and thinking that funk hadn't uploaded in a bit and I'm so glad he's doing better
Also shoutout to Shovel Knight King of Cards even though I’m not sure it counts since you have to play it to progress the game but the fact they built a fully functional platform adventure game *with* a fully designed card game that unlocks a new ending is really cool.
A small child gets asked to (read: forced) to help some old dotting professer research whatever very readily available information there is. That same 10 year old tends to stop world ending threats and shady buisness practices. You got your elements like Water and Fire, you got living things like Bug and Flying, and materials like Rock and Steel. There you go thats it thats pokemon
There are 18 currently existing types: Normal Grass Water Fire Fighting Flying Psychic Poison Ghost Rock Ground Electric Bug Ice Dragon Steel Dark Fairy Pokemon change types when evolving or mega evolving, some Pokemon can have multiple types at once, Pokemon types have different strengths and weaknesses depending on the opponents move, less effective moves doing as low as 25% the base damage, and super effective moves doing upwards of 400% the base damage, these moves have a chance to crit, which doubles the initial damage, and if a Pokemon uses a move which is the same type as it is, it deals 150% the damage that would have been dealt under the previously established conditions. In Red Blue and Yellow, Speed played a role in crit chance calculations, as well as crits ignoring status changes. This was fixed in Gold and Silver. As of Diamond and Pearl, Pokemon moves have 3 possible categories: Physical: Attacks which use the attack/defense stats for calculations Special: Attacks which use the special stats for calculations Status: Moves which change the stats of the target Pokemon As of Ruby and Sapphire, all Pokemon have an ability, which add a passive bonus to the Pokemon depending on the types of abilities it is capable of spawning with. I could go on, but I have yet to understand IV's and EV's. Forgot to mention immunities: Ghost is immune to Normal and Fighting, Normal is immune to Ghost, Fairy is immune to Dragon, Steel is immune to Poison, Ground is immune to Electric, and Flying (or Pokemon with levitate or an air balloon) are immune to ground.
Yokai Watch had a minigame in it called Yokai Blasters, and instead of releasing a new Yokai Watch, they released a WHOLE GAME expanding on the blasters minigame because the fanbase loved it so much.
This is a really good collection of a lot of minigames, really goes to show how important of a feature they really are. Good stuff, enjoyable throughout.
The thing I love about the Metal Gear monkey minigame, is that there exists a companion piece to it in Ape Escape 3, a monkey Metal Gear minigame where you have to save Snake
I'm glad to see you upload again and glad to hear you're doing better! I love watching your video essays and watch the movement shooters ones regularly
Another "minigame in Gaming" example is Dishonored 1's "Trials of Dunwall" thing, which had these cool minigames to test your stealth and accuracy. Im so sad that its so underrated.
I'm glad you took time off for many reasons, one of them being that this video was definitely worth the wait! This was one of my favorite uploads of yours in a very long time, keep up the good work, and obviously you take as much time as you need
I can't believe I found this channel again. Was here ages ago around Tough Break-ish, but damn am I glad to find you again Funke. Subscribed, again but permanently now.
Dude that feels so good to have a new video from you! As always, interesting, well edited, and damn dude, your outro just killed me ahahahahah Anyway, good to see you around!
My favorite in game minigame is Insector Arena in Rogue Galaxy for PS2! You can lay traps all around the world and collect and train little bugs that all have different mechanics, and set up your team and battle NPCs or your friends (if they bring their memory card over) in a chess-like game!
loved the unlockable minigames in Splatoon 1 that you could play while queueing for a match, broke up the pace of sweat-filled ranked mode criminal how they still have yet to bring them back in any shape or form in 2 or 3
I think the coolest minigames are the ones where you have full games inside of another game, like the Eternal example in the video. Night In The Woods as an example has an entire dungeon crawler which couldn't be more different from the actual, story-driven side scroller platformer. Celeste has a 8-bit version of Celeste inside of it too. That stuff just increases the value of the game you're playing by so much, you're not just getting to do extra stuff - it feels like you just got another free game!
My favorite thing about Pokémon Stadium's minigames is if you had your GB Cart inserted (which you probably did), YOUR OWN POKÉMON would be in the minigames, and sometimes you could actually use a secret Pokémon in the games you otherwise couldn't. You could use Omanyte in Togepi Roll, for example.
I think you got what you wanted with Sonic Frontiers. It has fishing, pinball, mini-levels separate from the open world, and map activities have challenges in them, like 3D Tetris, time trials, floor tile lights, and more.
Some of my faves include the Tekken Bowl mini game from Tekken Tag and all the minigames in A Way Out and It Takes Two. Some of the best bits of both games!
This is one of those channels where every now and then I go back and watch all your videos again and it's always a fun time. Hope you're doing well bro
There was an entire life sim minigame in the Professor Layton and the Last Specter game's start menu. And while I loved Professor Layton, I played that minigame a LOT.
