Mini-hike: Hiker Cat is back in the fields - DIRT BATHS GALORE 

What a lucky cat Taz is to have found someone who takes him for stimulating little hikes. And what a lucky man you are to have such a bond with this beautiful boy. Seen from a distance, his coat makes him looks like an unusually colored tiger. Keep up what you're doing. You both seem healthy and happy.

Love the way Taz's ears are back listening for you when he's walking in front of you to make sure you're still there. He's obviously enjoying his walk, plus he knows Dad is there to keep him safe. Hello. Have you thought oh putting a bird feeder outside the window from where Taz could watch. Obviously not too close, but I think he would enjoy the stimulation and the birds would like the food.

I find it interesting that this is how you take him on walks. I live in a place where three townhouses surround a decently-sized courtyard, so I take my cat there; however, I let her guide each walk and mostly step in when she’s scared or trying to get in bushes / under cars / etc. I also take her on small (20-30 minute), frequent (3-4 days a week) walks. So yeah, somewhat different perspectives on walks :)

I don't have much advice for taking cat on a hike. You are the expert in this field. Had a cat that liked to chase an American Football. One bad toss and she would chase it as it bounced in random directions.

Cats like flowing water the best. I don't know if it'll work for you, but I carry a bottle I pour out onto a small bowl slowly, and my cat will lick the stream as it pours. Then I recycle it by pouring it back into the bottle. I've read it's instinctual. Cats just don't like still water. Also, I wonder what Taz sensed up ahead that spooked him. My cat wouldn't go near this certain field near our house whenever I walked her around. Weeks later, I was walking on my own in the evening and saw a huge bobcat with her kittens out prowling in that same area. If I had a sensitive nose and was as small as she was, I wouldn't wanna walk through bobcat territory either.

I don't have experience with walking cats on a leach, but I have some insight in cats behaviour outdoors. I have a cat who always follows me around and listen to me indoors, but outdoors, she behaves diffrently. She will not always come when I call for her, even repeatedly. Going her own way. What I mean is that if your cat manages to get out of the harness, it might be more difficult to "catch" him than you might think. Like if he gets scared of something and runs away, or gets injured. Even calling for your cat when he's just sitting under a bush, he might just sit there and not come out. Every cat is different, so it varies, but in general I believe this is how most cats are. So make sure the harness is secured properly, and maybe get a gps collar (if the cat accepts wearing one) in case he escapes and runs away.

I like Taz's sense of direction on these mini hikes. He seems to know when to be cautious and he's leading his pet parent quickly sometimes 😂 To Taz: A Great Leader with many followers. ❤️👏🏻😊💯
