This definitely helped so much I just switched from alto to bari and I could not get those low notes to be consistent and clear

I switched over to Bari sax in band this year!

I'm in eighth grade and I thought my embouchure was screwed up. my band director noticed i was having trouble with low notes so she had a high school student play it and he couldn't get them out either. so for 2 years i couldn't play low notes cause the schools sax was screwed up lol

Is it just me or is playing bari easier than playing alto to me it is and it's personally my favorite and they wonder why I loathe marching band it's because I have to play alto. Not that alto is hard that was the first I learned

Another good tip to get the low A on the dot, is holding the low A while holding the Bb so all the keys will shut nice and tight

So, it's kinda been a long time since you posted this, but I'm having trouble with my Embochure. I cant play lower than a low D, and if I do it would make a little squeak noise. So, I need help opening my jaw, and my lips, and more. Can you help me out? Anotherthing, the only way I can play low notes, is if I go down. Like from G, F, E, D, A, C. I have to go down in order to play them, I can't start at low D and play it, I have to literally go down from G to low D in order to do it. Help meh please!!

Doing this for jazz band, my primary instrument is flute, and fingerings are similar.

There are two different ways of playing 2nd octave high F and E by putting the left index finger on the top key. I can get the F to come out fine. It's the same as F with the palm keys. But the E does not come out at all. In other words, I can play high E with the palm keys but not like this: T,2,3. I was wondering if that's just the way baritones are? Do you have an optional way to play high E other than the palm keys? I use these alt fingerings on my other sax's all the time. (Not talking about altissimo notes. Only regular fingerings.)

After not touching a sax of any type for 35 years, I am playing bari in our civic band. We've only been playing for about 6 weeks. I practiced on my own alto for the first 2 weeks because the school's bari which I am using this summer was missing the mouthpiece (bought my Yamaha 5C since the school's mouthpiece was still missing. ) I think I am still fighting the 'alto embouchure a bit. I've pretty much mastered down to low A, but my high C often 'cuts out' on me. When I practice scales, I am fine with the high C 99% of the time, but when I attempt the note individually, it's as if my reed is collapsing due to too high of air flow (even with 2 1/2 Hamkes) or it plays a very muffled note. I moved up from Rico 2s to the 2 1/2 Hemke, thinking that my newly increased air flow (from no longer tucking my lower lip as much) is collapsing it, but am still having the problem. I can also play ABOVE the high C without this problem..... any tips? TIA

Can you make a video on growling, i've been playing saxophone for 5 years now, and i've played jazz for 2 years, it'd be great if I could finally get a good tutorial on how to growl.

I've been working on correcting my embouchure due to having a thin top end. 2 weeks ago I developed a metallic/tinny tone which begins on the top end. After about 10 minutes it continues down through the entire range. Apparently I'm biting more on top because I've blown out my upper lip. I used to be able to practice for an hour or more but now I'm lucky to go 15-20 minutes before losing my embouchure. I still feel my upper lip after playing last night. I apparently need to even my embouchure out again and am working taking private lessons.

I've been playing bari sax for five years, and for a while I had to play alto in my schools band. Recently, while getting back into the swing of things, I've noticed that i'm leaking a good deal of air from the corners of my mouth. My normal embouchure practice (mess around til it's right) just isn't doing the trick here. Any suggestions?

I had to look back on this video at around 7:00 in the video if I was doing the right position for my bari (and i was) because my jazz director kept telling me to keep my mouth straight when playing the bari because he said that i kept using a subtone mouth position.

I'm certain you have answered this before. I have just started playing bari (1926 Buescher True Tone) that is completely overhauled and immaculate. I'm a pro level player and play tenor/soprano mostly. I've played with mouthpieces and reed strength but for some reason, I get overtones on the low E and D. I can work through them with my embouchure but maintaining the tone I want aggravates the notes and the essence of my tone. Is this just the age of this horn or should I be looking to get into a JodyJazz. I prefer a very light and responsive feel to my horns FYI. Right now I'm using a 7 Otto Link Metal and a 2 reed. If you play the Baritone Sax you should be proud of it. Why? Because the Baritone Sax looks cool with the Shoulder Straps plus it's unique Range. Bass instruments can be underrated.

Ok my question is how do I get that bari sound. I get a sound out of it but it’s not that classic sound. Sometimes out of nowhere I get it, but once I take the mouth piece out of my mouth, I lose it. I try so many things and can’t figure it out. Also when I get that sound it’s so much easier to play notes if that might help you help me

Any tips for alto embocure? I play bari primarily, so when I switch back to alto my lips and mouth area starts hurting after a little to a lot of playing. is this common?
