Yup, a motorway would have been able to provide a highway to that orange mall at the top and remove that traffic jam at the intersection with the light blue cars. The traffic light didn't help much.
I believe Los Angeles has a limited number of motorways. I'm inclined to think it's a flavor decision, Los Angeles only has so many major highways, so they stayed true to that here.
Great job. The only thing I noticed that at 53:00 wasn't fatal (yet) was that you had route 8 bringing red across the map East to West and route 2 bring red from West to East. You could have brought the west red to the west red store and the east red to the east red store. If you moved route 2 to the bottom left red store, you could have also moved the red traffic off the intersection with blue and saved an overpass.
No. Only connect what the building needs. The number of dots on the building gives you an idea. Round buildings require more traffic so act on those quickly and borrow houses from other buildings if you have to.
Great play, better than any of mine so far. I wondered a few things: swapping I-2 with I-8 servicing the red warehouses, moving I-3 closer to the center of the pink houses, and putting a traffic light where the light blue and yellow cars were crossing. Your thoughts?
Me too tbh, seems to defeat the purpose of the game when the optimal strategy is to keep entirely separate road networks for each building and even leave some houses disconnected.
@@katzen3314 I also did not like some of these core gameplay mechanics. The one that you mentioned may be just a case of "it's just a game", but still... Another design choice I don't like is how useless traffic lights are, how limited roundabouts are and SPECIALLY how essential motorways are. Motorways are so unbalanced, specially compared with the other two "road upgrades", that the game basically turns into a lottery - if you get a motorway you survive, if not: too bad, better luck next time!
You had good motorway rng at the start, but it dropped off at the end :(. I also saw a couple of extra houses that you could've connected. But still, what an awesome game!
52:50 I was surprised you never altered the light blue house by the top pink building. I'd think it'd be way better to not have a junction there, even if the blue cars never drive.
Only a few houses should be attached to the buildings, it is not necessary to connect all of them. Often the game over be played because too many houses are attached to buildings, so cars get stuck in large traffic jams
It seems you can't win a map... it just keeps building until there's no way to continue. It's like the war on drugs in the movie Traffic. You just get driven til you quit. There aren't enough tools to use. It gets way too micromanagy and cluttered but with no way to really manage things. Also every map is mostly the same. Almost exactly the same so no new challenges..
