I agree with you, I am a Master Diver, and the first time I saw that I thought: " Umm, people who will buy these are not educated in the laws of diving, they will be let's say at 30 feet, breathing compressed air, and let's say that they do not let air go before ascending, they will die of an embolism! Compressed air inside their lungs, as they ascent and pressure will decrease, your lungs will expand, and keep expanding until they burst. So DO NOT Use these without knowledge, I would say that these are lawsuits awaiting to happen.
The holding your breath spill...non-scuba certified folk don’t know. Very dangerous to hold your breath on the way up. Great video. EDIT: Can we agree SCUBA Diving is not so much a “sport” as it is a no-nonsense Special Operation. Training - physical and mental conditioning, knowledge and mastery of your gear and at a minimum a basic understanding of dive physics is required. Not everyone can do it. Some are to scared to dive in.
So, as long as you don't hold your breath, it works as advertised? Lol Compound pumps have a leverage advantage above that of a direct 1:1 pump. Air quality = the exact same air you're breathing on the surface, regardless of what tank your filling. No, it's not filtered like a scuba fill station, but neither is the air you're breathing as you shoot this video. Full face masks and shallow diving? Yep. Its specifically for very shallow "diving". I can't use the full face because my ears are super sensitive, personally. But i could definitely use them to about 8ft for however long the little tanks last. For me, the hookahs are far better suited, but not everyone wants to drop that kind of money. I think two kinda of people would buy this......the ones who just want to play in a swimming pool and never want more, and people who quickly hit the limits of what it does and then look into actual scuba training to further the hobby.
These are beyond dangerous because they lack so much information necessary to keep yourself safe it’s baffling these are even legal. No depth gauge, can’t see the pressure unless you take it out of your mouth which if doing so you must breathe out while doing. Air compresses while you descend limiting the air time even further, potential for decompression illness or the bends if you dive too deep and ascend too fast. Same goes for lung over expansion injuries. Not to mention that without a filter on the air provider you can get contaminated air that isn’t the right blend and get narced. Which is for an untrained person a quick fire way to run out of air and drown. Please if you want to use these items go get diving certified instead of just freedive. No self respecting diver would be caught dead using this by myself, maybe as a third backup but that’s so impractical it would never happen.
I have a Spare Air 6cf tank. Much bigger than most of the others. Only thing I don't like, Reg is Fixed to the top. No Hose. But is listed as 169L where most of the "Mini Tanks" are 2L or less. They don't have enough Volume to be used. The 6cf I have was Tested by Scuba Diving magazine. They managed to get a few more breaths than it was rated for
U can’t get king expansion issues from a .5 liter tank. Im un certified I don’t go deeper then 8ft I just collect things under water make sure im blowing water out and coming above to air very slowly just incase nitrogen build up pccurs
I did not appreciate the prices charged by some hippie expert divers, this stuff is made for amateurs for not deeper than 3 meters, any monkey could dive that deep in your pool, for simple snorkeling
One thing that bothered me is that I'd think you'd want to dehumidify the air that you are putting in your tank. Without this, water will build up, and you'll have to drain the tank.
Another thing to consider is the fact that the highest percentage of compression occurs in the first 30 feet so diving to the bottom of a 12 foot deep pool, taking and holding a breath from that depth and surfacing could be very very bad!!! ☠️
Great video discussing this! I know other youtubers have done videos about the physical realities of pumping those up, suffice to say you better weigh over 200 pounds to even have a chance. Secondly, I have one of the budget brandless high pressure compressors for air gun use. I use a water/oil separator to get it to high enough quality to put into an air gun, wouldn't want it pressurized in my lungs.
These things are outright dangerous. The minimum back up tank a scuba diver should carry is 19L. Took me quite a while to fully understand this and I’m a master diver. They should not be used in any event by the untrained to whom marketed. Better than nothing is a poor argument.
Ehh u can’t really get decompression sickness with a .5L tank. I am not certified but I use these tanks but don’t go deeper then 8ft. I use it in rivers and I never go deeper then 8ft really
