Test drive the J01 Mini Cooper SE yesterday, loved it so much I bought one. To address the sound, I drove it without the "fake" sounds, and it was still loads of fun.
Id buy the old one, its a great price now for sure. The Griffith i had was an amazing car, it will be inyerssting to see how the Tesla powered Wedge fairs
I will keep my old Mini Cooper electric over the new, especially now since I have started to modify the things I felt needed to be changed. So far I have added a big brake kit, polyurethane bushings, Eibach springs with Koni FSD shocks, rear sway bar, new lower and upper control arms in the rear suspension. My mini feels and drives like a completely different car!
On the F56, you have to put it in Sport+ to have the most fun😁 Simply put it in sport, then press the off button right next to it... you'll see sport traction on the digital dash. The car still has E Diff and if you press and hold that off button for more than 6 seconds, you turn everything off except the E Diff...(track mode) If you mess up, it's on you💯 I've been selling MINI's for over 13 years🤙
@@pachy444 its all about personal opinion. Also depends on what you need it for. I did 30k in my Model 3 in the last 12 months i doubt the Mini wouod have been as convenient or cheap thinking about charger infrastructure.
Did you check what the tyre pressures were on the more floaty current MIN Cooper SE, and what tyres were on it? As to settings other than sport, TC off, Dynamic off, hold for 3 seconds, all off.
Someone else mentioned this, I didn't take the traction control off the new shop. Although now I know you can on the old one, I clearly need to go back!
I drove one of these the other day - exactly the same as the one in this video - and I loved it. When you lift off the throttle in Go-Kart mode it sounds like a pod-racer from The Phantom Menace - it was great. 😊😊😊
@@chargeheadsuk A friend of mine used to race TVR's and having been in a VERY fast Griff can see the attraction! I have the old mini EV less than a year old level 3 spec plus loads of extras and 5k millage cost 24k which I thought was ok.Its ideal for a city car and really enjoy driving it.Only do a few hundred miles a month so costs about £10 a month in electricity charging at home on a cheap night tariff
@@whocares264proper EV? Why are the comments always full of stupid idiots saying dumb stuff? If it's powered by batteries, it's a proper EV and the quality is miles better than Tesla.
Why is it 'ridiculous'? It's made by an offshoot of BMW so should be considered premium. There's a lot of tech here. This car is designed for those who follow the brand and aspire to be 'mini' drivers. In my opinion, so far as VFM, anyone would be much better off buying a Tesla Model 3.
You started to say the full charge was only 170 miles and then lost your train of through. My i3 lost range if you wound down the windows it was useless for range. I want to buy this mini but I’m really worried it’ll only 150 miles….. no reviews gives a straight answer on this….
@@MichaelClarke75 sorry Michael, i often loose my train of thought, distracted by squirrel and the like. Best to habe a ling term test drive id suggest 👍👍
I want one! I think these are a new bar for the electric hot hatch. 250 miles range would be better though. Anything is the 100’s is a shame. What range do you think you will get from Wedge-e?
Was mad on minis, first car I had was the classic and then a first gen BMW one which I still own but would have a Model 3 over this. What was the 0-60 on the JCW?
You talk about recyclable interior materials.. then later refer to them as being made from recycled compounds. A bit more clarity would help. I assumed you meant 'from recycled' when you tested the sound of scratching the surface but most might have taken your words spoken as being the informative content. A bit more on the head up display might be appreciated too.. and on safty features. Good video, just a little shallow on info. 😊
The black one is priced at £42k..maybe if they swap the numbers around I’d be interested. Still at least £10k too expensive for what they are. Second hand more like £33k probably with 3k miles on them after a year. Maybe £28k in two years then it might get interesting. We have had five MINI’s, two currently on the drive ordered from factory and they will probably be our last. I had one of the original and first on the U.K. roads F56 Coopers in April 2014 and still got it on 35k miles. Looking at the new Renault 5 retro when it comes out that they say starts at £25k we will see. For over £40k even without indicator stalks I’d take the Model 3 every day of the week. If this MINI did real world 300 miles and cost £27k with the sports pack then maybe, but not at £42k I’d look at a owner with sympathy thinking poor sod and I never looked a at a MINI Works thinking other than “ Nice”.
There are two battery sizes. I think the bigger one is ample based on the size of car. I would prefer a faster charging speed, however I'm spoilt with the 250KW DC max of my Model 3.
@@chargeheadsuk but most chargers in U.K. are Labelled just 150kwh with 117- 120kwh at peak in reality due to amp limitations around my area , meaning a 0-80 in about 45,50 mins depending on charger and load the nearest grid serve is over 40 miles away so maths wise not worth traveling to. On route , but a 40kwh _37kwh usable pack in now days just won’t sell unless your a city dweller with short commute , people will naturally gravitate for the 50kwh but with a real world 3.1 kwh on run is not good if you take the 80% charge limit many manufacturers insist on for battery life we’re still talking a 175 mile ev at best
I've got the petrol one absolutely love it same in every detail really level pack3 must have. Best features is I have 4 assistants to help me google alex siri hey mini
You may be too young to remember car manufacture in the 70s in the UK. I do. With those memories it's no wonder everything is made in China. I drive a Chinese made EV - a BYD Atto 3 - and I'm so incredibly happy with it after nearly two years. I don't see my next vehicle coming from anywhere else apart from Thailand where the new BYD EV factory is located.
@@LouDeVereI'm 51 so I do remember how bad Leyland stuff got. We could make amazing things still in our own country but we don't as it costs more. We are handing China everything on a plate and they don't have our best interests at heart. Mini is a classic British design and it's a shame we don't build it in our country. I'm sure it is a good car.
I don't believe this review is genuine. The old car was almost dismissed and he likes the back end styling of the new one so it's very likely a review instigated and directed by BMW Mini.
Or maybe it's his personal impressions of both cars and he prefers the new one genuinely? Never been a mini fan so the video didn't convince me to get either but I'm sure the review's genuine; just look at his other videos.
The old one was a good car, it was hyped up by quite a few people for me thats all. My reaction on the new one i assure you was genuine. Would I buy one for that money, no, id buy a Tesla model 3.
Fun review! I love your reaction to the piped driving experience sounds! British and Aussie reviewers are a lot more natural and engaging than ones here in the US, most of whom take themselves very seriously with not much humor.
