I have had a similar printer for almost a year now and I have used it almost everyday.. I am a nurse in a small Assisted Living Facility. This printer with the thermal adhesive backed paper is great for labeling specimen cups to sent to the lab. I am actually thinking of buying another one to load regular thermal paper in, so I don't have to switch back an forth for different needs.
I have an interesting use for my thermal printer. I print labels in landscape for a visually impaired person. In the USA a "certified" label printer for the visually impaired that prints two or three rows costs close to $200 USD and the waterproof continuous roll tape is $10 per roll USD. Also that printer only works with Windows and it has no formatting tools (no centering of text for an example). To put it in perspective, I bought a thermal printer on Amazon for $18 USD and I get 20 rolls of sticker tape for $12 USD. How I'm able to get it to print edge to edge is I enter text in a photo editor in bold, make sure to keep the aspect ratio when stretching it edge to edge, landscape it then crop it. I save it as a JPEG and print it out on the thermal printer. That will print edge to edge top to bottom (banner style).
I REALLY appreciate this video! Thank you! My question is I mainly bought this to print CLEAR labels that I can stick on things. How do I order that kind of paper. Obviously the paper it comes with is just like a receipt type paper...
Glad you enjoyed and found the video helpful ♥️ For the paper, you can order it on Temu as it's pretty cheap on there and other shops like Amazon/eBay/Shein as well. Just make sure you order the correct size. Temu had quite a few options including coloured paper. Hope that helps 🙂
what a brilliant video step by step guide thank you so much . in regards to charging without knowing when its fully charged, how long would you recommend?? i know you said 30 to 40mins you did, can they be overcharged?
Not in my experience, I've left it on charge for a few hours sometimes and it worked fine but I would try to avoid that. Also, thank you very much for your kind comment, really appreciate it 🙂
Hi, thanks for the nice review. I noticed that the printed stickers are not dark at all. For labels, if the printed word is short, It is rather black but if it is a long phrase, is light grey... Looks like more current is necessary to heat up the resistor in the print head. It there a firmware or software fix to correct the darkness ?
Could you show how to change the size of your paper when you print ? Like I got paper in but it prints and don’t stop until it’s like 4 or 5 inches long and it’s wasting my paper cuz it’s runs out after picture done printing
Nope, if you're doing it for a business, i would invest in something more trustworthy to ensure the prints are off higher quality and don't fade away. This would still work but i wouldn't personally use it for a business. Hope that helps
Hi mate, thanks for the video. I'm wondering if this can print mail labels like the ones for royal mail or Amazon. If it's too small, can we crop into parts then print and bind together? Thanks❤
It can yes, but i wouldn't use it as its primary purpose due to the print fading away over time. I did a short about this here if that helps: ru-vid.comC8G3HuFLIgE?feature=share
You can indeed. I've been asked this a few times so I'll do a quick video and show how it works. Unless the QR code is tiny and i mean tiny, like in the corner of the page, it works without trouble.
I cannot make mine print. It keeps on showing a message "Whether to print words. If there are no words on the paper, turn the paper upside down and reinstall it. If there is no paper, reload the paper according to the instructions." I'm pretty sure the paper is correctly loaded idk what seems to be the problem
That's odd, have you turned the paper around and tried again? Maybe five that a try and see if it works. The roll should curl upwards e I.e. pointing into the cover of the printer. Hope that helps 🙂
Yes, you can control what length is printed. The width of the paper is around 2 inches so you'll have to put 1 inch labels side by side. Hope that helps
I bought one of these to see if it was suitable for a child. As it seemed a great present. However, i have some grave concerns about this device. Specifically the notes taking function and resultant QR code. Once the video or sound cips recording are made they are stored on a website server NOT in the local app on your phone!!!! when you turn off wifi and 3/4G data on your phone this function this notes function fails to work!!! In fact what was even more disturbing was when i created a sound note and printed off the resultantant QR code and scanned it with my iphone camera it took me to the web site. I then played it and it was SOMEBODY ELSES NOTE!! Security issues around this are huge.
Damn, yes that is a security risk. Stay safe. I didn't even take that feature seriously since I'd never use it but good spot. In terms of the actual prints though, what do you think? I think they're pretty good and fun for kids.
I'm not sure on the exact timing because there is no indication when it's full but charging for 1 hour should be more than enough. I've only charged this once since I got it and it's still working right now, literally printed some stickers before I saw your comment 😁 Hope that helps
Hmm, it'll be a bit small for shipping labels but it you have a small label, it does work. Example, I could print and then scan a QR code. Hope that helps
Hmm, i would avoid touching it too much. Apparently, the chemicals on our hands help the thermal print fade away with touches. I've got a printed sticker on my wardrobe for over 2 months now and it still looks the same. Hope that helps
that's just the nature of this type of printers, they will fade away, there's nothing you can do about it. there are higher quality papers that will last longer but they'll fade away too in the end
I will stick to my brother P-Touch Labor. The value versus what you get with the P-Touch is not even close. Just remember thermal paper prints degrade with heat every quickly. This is for children.😅
Fair enough. Yeah, i would consider this a toy, wouldn't expect to see this being used in a professional environment but it definitely works for quick prints for children or QR/barcodes
