Well... they've finally arrived at my channel- if you see any strange messages that have a username with telegram or are talking about any kind of giveaway, they are not me! I'm doing my best to delete and block all of them, but if you see one please report it and do not click any links or anything. Stay safe my friends~
I can't believe RU-vid hasn't done anything. This "text me on telegram" scam is MASSIVE. I got the same message from from other scammy youtuber impersonator. RU-vid can easily ban all username bearing the words "text me on telegram". Not sure why they haven't done anything.
That multi-dimensional move of assembling from one angle whilst watching through the mirror is a game changer technique. And as always, Very Good Video! Happy Spooktember!
Simple, but surprisingly effective! Always so happy to receive the Very Good Video™ stamp of approval, thank you! Happy Soartember to you, hope the flying castle is going well~ (unless that hint was all an elaborate ruse to throw everyone off...)
@@MechanicalFiend I would hire you to paint my room in veriety of Burton vision styles unfortunately right now I'm currently broke and will be seeking any good jobs that are available out there . Publishers Clearing House and other bad organizations online sell lies to everyone so protect yourselves from all of those bad programs out there happy scare days . 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟
I mean it's cool, but it's so derivitive you know it was inspired, not invented. We iterate all possibilities, of course the low hanging fruit will be performed first. To clarify what I mean by low hanging fruit... I mean simple, direct reference, rather than indirect, as in context, relation or association between the motivated concepts. The mirror move is about the most direct reinterpretation of the mirror as a physical object into a camera technique as a human can make, speaking to no deep relationship, telling no abstract story, etc. I reason this way, because if you made a naive computer program to trivially loop over the data and combinate it, it'd be one of the earliest productions, meanwhile there are such complex relationships that mere binary composition could never hint at it. I'm speaking to rhetoric here, but you can just look around and watch as cliched ideas are repeated by the naive-presumed-clever and know the pattern is real and common. Remember this, and as you're consuming media, the next time you see this effect, you'll know my perturbed outlook is justified. To be clear, I don't mean to knock her, I'm knocking your loose verbage in calling it a game changer. If you had just been accurate, I'd have no qualms or quarrel. I don't even care about the content of the video, just your assault on pedanticism.
I'm glad RU-vid randomly recommended this. I love art and pieces like these make me so jealous that I just do not have the time or patience to do stuff like this anymore. It turned out amazing and your attention to detail was on point!
Well hey thank you so much for giving it a watch, it is so appreciated! I think if you want to fit art into life easier, sometimes doing smaller projects in shorter segments over a longer period of time helps. If you keep going little by little, the project will be done eventually! Thank you so much for all the super kind words~
YES! I Second and Third this! I have my own "Halloween Town" that stays up on my TV stand in my living room year round and I've managed to add some Nightmare Before Christmas Characters to it along with some Classic Universal Monsters as well! :D
It is the absolute least I could do considering how much they have all supported the channel as they're all patrons. Wish I could do more as I am so incredibly grateful, they keep the channel going!
Ahhh so happy to hear that, I wanted to get this out to you so much sooner, but alas! Glad you could enjoy the tomb stone, they were such a blast to make! And thank you so much as always, I hope that the videos are improving as I learn more, so that's the best to hear~
For once in my life, I am incredibly beyond grateful for RU-vid randomly recommending this channel to me! I found watching this to be simultaneously soothing and entertaining. Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite movie (next to Beetlejuice) and this recreation turned out SO BADASS! Totally subscribing 🖤
Well hey, thanks so much for giving it a watch and so happy you could enjoy! If you are interested in Beetlejuice miniatures and haven't seen Bentley House Minis, she's done some mind blowing Beetlejuice ones!
Ahhhh thank you so much! You can do so much with paper, it's super versatile! And tbh I actually feel like if you build a structure well, it can be surprisingly durable... I hope I don't regret saying that and the whole thing will now just suddenly fall apart lol.
I kid you not, if the entire build process was documented it would be at least 30% me staring at nothing trying to piece these shapes together in my head. Thank you so much as always my friend!
You’re such a wonderful artist. I always look forward to your videos. This was phenomenal. I think the skinnier siding looked much better than had it been wider. The editing is as professional as it gets. Your hard work is appreciated. Thank you for sharing!
All too kind words, thank you so much my friend, it's honestly wild when people say they actually anticipate the videos! I definitely like the way the siding looked! I just realized that they were probably a bit thinner than the actual ones in the movie, so... technically added some work for myself there lol.
Amazing. 36 years old and proud to say a nightmare before Christmas is my favorite movie and has been for decades. Dish towels, throw blankets, clothes, jewelry, figures, monopoly, cups, mugs, bags, wallets, socks…. I can go on and on lol. Love this!
You're such a fantastic film maker, D! I love that Cinematic Tension segment. Very nice. Using a mirror to attach the tower... you so crazy. Excellent technique and problem solving! Kudos on your very appropriately themed outfit. I've started to suspect that you are either a Zen master, or a Shingle Masochist. I'm not sure which. The music, vocals, and edit to the intro are just plain kick***. : ) The entire build is sweet. All of the windows look great and the final shots are excellent. Well made on every level.
Ahhh thank you so much, this was such a fun one to work on- the video and the project! Think I had a little too much fun editing hahaha. It might be a little bit of both as far as the shingles go... I was thinking during this that I wish there were scissors that were like zigzag ones, but could cut out a shingle shape edge. Would be so helpful! Thank you again, so glad you could enjoy it~
@@MechanicalFiend You are welcome! There are few things that you can maybe try for your shingles. 1. You could reach out to a metal working RU-vid channel about creating a pair of specialty scissors just for you. 2. Try out this bizarre and cheap little cutting tool: 'GYRO-CUT craft and hobby tool.' Let me know if you get one and if it works! 3. A company like Cricut would probably send you a cutting machine for free if you reached out to them. I am not sure if you'd be interested in a computer driven cutter, but it would make shingling a lot easier. Excellent work all around, cheers D!
Super fun! Also, if you're ever looking for extra cardboard material to work with I have a tip! If you go to any 24hr Wal-Mart after 11pm (around midnight or 12:30 would be best), just grab a buggy and walk around the store looking for the overnight stockers. Each department will have a shopping cart filled with broken down cardboard boxes, and the workers are happy if you take a bunch of it as that means they won't have to take the cardboard to the bailer in the back as quickly. I would always do this when I needed boxes for moving in my 20s and just fill-up a buggy to the brim with broken down boxes and buy a roll of tape to tape them back up, but these days I go get a ton of free boxes to use for modeling projects (also free shipping boxes if I sell something online).
Totally, honestly you can ask at a lot of different stores and they'll be happy to give you cardboard. I've moved a ton doing that as well, gotta collect those boxes! I don't need to most of the time for models now, they're so small and take long enough that the stuff I save from packaging now is enough. But if I'm ever building a full size cardboard set one day, you know I'll be hitting up stores hahaha!
@@OccultDemonCassette Yeah, really seems like they're on every single channel nowadays! I've reported and hidden all the comments so they should be gone now. Sorry about that!
Watching this made me so excited to get all my supplies for a paper mache pumpkin head mask i'm making for my Halloween costume!! i'm gonna be a lil pumpkin lady ^w^
That's soooo awesome, I wish you the best with it and hope the papier mache goes well! Would totally love to see it if you wanna share when you're done! Have you seen Rachel Maksy's pumpkin lady costume? Sound like it's along similar lines!
@@MechanicalFiend omg yes! I love Rachel Maksy and I actually was inspired by her and this burnt orange dress I had. I’ll try to remember to share it and tag you! 🖤
I think the coolest part of people making things from this movie is that in the end they look like the real thing because this is how they would have made the real set
Absolutely, granted the methods were likely different as the actual sets were bigatures, significantly larger scale. I did watch the making of the movie in preparation for building this as well, amazing stuff!
Another quality video, can't wait for the christmas video on halloween! I've been wanting to get into some of this miniature/diorama type stuff myself lately
Ahhh but then what to do on Christmas, that is the question! You totally should! You can start pretty small and work on things over time, it's such a blast. Hope you do give it a try if you want to~
Lighting the projects is one of the most fun parts for me, I love shooting everything and putting the final edits together haha. So happy you liked it~ And thank you so much as always!
Man, LAIKA should absolutely hire you. The attention to detail and strategic building, like with the shingles (something producers would love) would be absolute wins for any stop motion studio.
Funnily enough I did actually apply to Laika a few years ago, they only had openings in the puppet department at the time so I was rejected. Love their stuff! I'm really happy doing my own projects for now though, it's a blast~
@@MechanicalFiend Next to Aardman/Nathan Love, they make some world-class stop motion, and have great storytelling chops. One of my good college friends worked for LAIKA and loved it. But doing RU-vid also gives you a lot of creative freedom you might not otherwise have, sooo... happy either way?
Totally amazing! I almost passed out when I saw the update on my subscriptions! Perhaps this year I will finally update my Halloween town decorations on my lawn. I’m really impressed by your work. I made a front door Bag End inspired by your piece and I appreciate the amount of work you put into everything. I wish I had the design savvy and patience you do and I wish I had friends like you in PA ☺️
Ooooo hope you do, sounds like your lawn is full of the spooky spirit at Halloween! And you made a Bag End piece too, that's so awesome! So happy to hear you can enjoy everything, I always have such a blast working on the projects and the videos. Feel you on the friends part, all of my friends live so far away! Where are all the local miniature enthusiasts hiding?
I felt like I was watching a really good indie documentary movie on how to make Jack Skeleton’s house. The cinematic Quantity is brilliant, editing is fantastic, main character is super lovable and funny, and the music is on point! All and all 10/10 would watch again
This is such an ambitious project and you completed it flawlessly! Honestly, my patience could never, so props to you! This is absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to see future projects like this 😋
Ahhh so so so happy to hear that, shooting the projects is one of the reasons that I make them in the first place haha. It's so much fun! Thank you so much~
This is beyond gorgeous! You did an amazing job! 💗💞💀🎃👑 Also, am I the only one who has always kinda wondered how Jack moved around in his unbelievably skinny house? I know that he's a really skinny skeleton, but still. 🤣
I had forgotten how much I love you and your work. I mean, breath taken away, heart pounding, genuine love for someone else's work, and the passion you bring to it, and how much wonderfulness you bring to my life because of it. Thank you, you and your work mean the world to me.
Most beautiful. I can only image the joy - and finger cramps - of laying all the shingles. I'm very impressed and looking forward to more. Looks like I'm going to have to chip in and get you a new shelf. Thank you for a great video.
All as planned. Gotta keep you on the edge of your seat! No but I would have loved to put some wire in, but I didn't have any that would have actually provided any structural support so... we're living dangerously this time around!
The final shots makes me cry,is an incredible masterpiece. Tim Burton whould be proud if he see it. Thank u so much for this beatiful and respetuos interpretation. From Argentina 🤗
I'm very impressed with you Jack Skellington House. I to have the NBC bug but mines is more of a 3D life size Halloween display. I currently have 17 characters from the movie I display in a different scene every Halloween for the past 3 years. I hope you keep creating works of art.
That sounds sooooo awesome, what? Whenever someone has a super elaborate Halloween display, it makes me the happiest haha! Thank you for all the kind words~
I never think to add characters in and tbh maybe for the better because I'm terrible at characters lol! That would be awesome for sure though! Thank you so much~
Ahhh thank you so much! I had such a blast making the intro haha, I love writing silly lyrics like that! And so happy you could enjoy it, thank you for all the super kind words~
It was so fascinating watching your Jack house come together! The attention to detail is amazing! I spent a considerable amount of time putting together a Victorian Jack Skellington outfit to wear to Steampunk conventions, so you are not alone in spending hours and hours crafting because of your love of Nightmare Before Christmas!
Now see I think the bricks go perfect with the whole vibe of the house. LOL I just read the names on the Tombstones! To funny. That's the thing with Miniatures. You have to look at every little thing. Great work!👻
That is extremely reassuring, thank you for saying that, I'm glad you thought so haha! They're the one part I'm still a little iffy about, but I think they did the job in the end. Honestly all those tiny details are one of the reasons I love miniatures so much, you can lay so much story into them~
I decided to jump on the bandwagon of mushroom fairy madness and I'm creating a mushroom costume! I have my paper mache hat done, just need to add a few finishing touches like the gills, and I'm also sewing a wrap top with huge bell sleeves for maximum fairy cuteness!
What magic is this? This little video captivated me from beginning to end and I have a super hard time paying attention to anything for more than a few minutes. !!!😮😬😳
Ok but actully this is sorcery- first off the way you displayed this all is so calming and intresting I didn’t even relize how long that was, second off the way this came out omg. This being one of my favorite movies you got everything so right it’s like you remade part of the movie everything is captured so so well. Thank you for gifting us with this 💜
Ahhh you're too kind my friend, thank you so much! Shooting the final shots of a project is one of my favorite parts of making the videos, it's the best time! So happy you could enjoy~
Fun fact, I had the sound track on vinyl and when djing for a halloween party I discovered that the line "I am the oogie boogie man" sounds the same forwards and backwards. Got to love Danny Elfman.
Best Jack house I have seen. Great video also! I made a version of Jack's house a few weeks ago and after watching your video I realize I missed many of the details from the movie.
Oooo super cool, hope yours turned out well- I'd love to see it! There are a ton of tiny details, especially looking at all the different models in the movie! Thank you so much for the kind words, really glad you could enjoy it~
RU-vid randomly recommended me this. I don't do crafts but i really enjoy listening to you narrate your videos, your voice is almost therapeutic lol Keep up the good work :)
Nightmare was filmed only about a block from my Custom Photo Lab here in San Francisco. They'd shoot on set 35mm stills to check the lighting. We'd get a few color rolls at the lab to process, print contact sheets, and also 8x10's and 5x7's. When you hand print, you're always testing, getting close to finals. Which meant extra prints laying about. Which wound up in my place somehow. A bunch.
Wow wow wow that's so cool, sounds like those would be awesome pieces to have around. It's such a great film, all the love that went into the sets, characters, etc. really shows. You are lucky to have them!
I've been saving this video for a time when I can relax and enjoy it properly. And I was not disappointed. I Love this. ...your videos are Fantastic. And that's an amazing piece of Art.
You do great work! Blessed be. Jack would be so proud. Thanks for reminding me how much fun is to be had in craft projects like this. Even if I never do something so cool and creative. Thanks. You've inspired me. And that's a high complement.
Ohhhh I've just seen your figures, they'll look soooo good in oogie's lair! Hope the build is going well, I took a look at it while working on this and it's definitely a tough one. Can't wait to see it~
