Have been building 1:48 scale model of my brownstone--with 20 working windows; working doors & gate; rooftop garden; backyard w 1 chainlink & one picket fence; LED lighting; herringbone flooring; with 5 stackable foors attached by mini-magnets--totally by hand... no laser cutter or 3D printer. Next time, will definitely go larger scale and use at least laser cutter, and/or 3D printing. I used to feel you can't truly say you'd "built" something--maybe just "designed" it--yourself if you print & assemble, as if it were a kit. But once you've tried designing, cutting, etc. ALL by hand and from scratch materials yourself, you get over that idea pretty quickly: life is too short and time is precious. But: will always be happy that I did completely by hand AT LEAST once! Your build is amazingly detailed, and so lovely! Thanks so much for posting.
Thank you! I would love to see your model; you should document it and put it on one of the media platforms like this one. You also have a real Brownstone? I would like to re-design my model as well so that the floors are stackable - I really like that idea. I would also like to use wood such as Basswood or Balsa wood rather than the matboard that I used. It would be interesting to know how much your model is worth, having done everything by hand like you did.
@@MissDioramaYes, I inherited; it's been in my family for decades. I'm still building, so don't want to post pics publicly yet. But I'd be happy to send you pics directly. How should I send them? One day when I'm able, I'd love to get a laser cutter and/or 3D printer and do brownstone over again at 1:24 scale as a kit for purchase. I think 1:12 scale might be too big for most folk, although most of the nicest miniature accessories sold are for 1:12. I had to buy most of my people, furniture and accessories as O scale from model railroader suppliers! Lol UPDATE: I've just uploaded a few pics to your Etsy shop message board (is it public or private?). Will send few more once I've had a chance to review my screenshots. Thanks so much for your interest; very much appreciated.
@@cableknitter7346 you are truly blessed to have a piece of history there! The laser cutter has really helped me with my miniatures and I actually rely on it more than my 3D printers. The design process for entire projects is the hard part; the thickness of material you're using changes everything, and of course you have to get the scale correct; then there is the material cutting settings! I really do love laser cutting though LOL!
I enjoyed assembling some miniature furniture kits, someone gave me years ago. It was a lot of fun, I'm glad you brought back those happy memories for me. I don't know if you sell any of your pieces. But I would like to introduce you to Dan Preese, Art For Operation Underground. He is a doctor who is fighting child sex trafficking, by selling his turned wood and resin pieces. Then donating all funds to O.U.R. , I would invite you to check out his sight as he invites other artists to donate some of there works for O.U.R.. You make such lovely pieces, and the funds would go to a worthwhile cause.
Gorgeous brownstone! Love your attention to detail and watching your videos makes me kind of wish for a laser cutter. Amazing all the details one can add layering the cut pieces! I am new to your channel, so will have to visit your page and browse through your creative and informative videos. I wonder if you have done one teaching how you light your projects. You did such an impressive job lighting up the brownstone! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us.
