if you have the money, go for the honeycomb bravo and airbus levers, i used the airbus set and even got extra throttle for 4 engines but i recently got the honeycomb and other then the setup taking awhile its great, only problem is with airbus levers is you need to buy 2 for a340
Brilliant video as usual. I thought the Mini FCU was going to be good and now, having seen your review, I'm even more excited. The trouble they've gone to to get the details right is very impressive; detail is everything. I'm expecting mine any time in the next few weeks and I can't wait! Looking forward to the EFIS!
More orders possible around the middle of December. Price is not yet announced, but check out the kickstarter to get a rough idea of what it was sold for when discounted originally! www.kickstarter.com/projects/minicockpit/minifcu-flightsim-autopilot-interface-developed-by-pilots
Thank you for a very descriptive review. Glad to see such attention to quality and replication by MiniFCU. Can't wait for their other addons. Just think: they could also add Tiller, MCDU, Radio, etc
Quality looks pretty good. Surprised it's a black and white LCD. I thought they were going for amber, which would be more like most aircraft out there, but it's not a deal breaker. What IS an issue is the Fenix support (or lack of it). Yes it technically works.....but if you're paying £100s for it, it would really suck to not have it fully working with the plane that I'm realistically going to be flying most of the time. I hope Fenix can do something to get around the licensing issues but I'm not confident they will.
Skalarki ran into the same problems re the Fenix, and that is much pricier equipment. Unfortunately I don't think it'll get solved. I got mine today, agree with you - amber would have been better.
It is not black and white. It's the auto white balance of the camera that makes it look so in the video, but in person it's exactly like it should be. It's a lighter shade of amber which to my understanding is what newly built aircraft have IRL, but under no circumstance would I say it's black and white.
There is a fix now for that, software you install and allows you to see the display using the Fenix only if you use it on the flybywire at some point you have to go in the software and tell it to use as normal..
Can you elaborate on this please. What are the exact steps to get the readout from the Fenix. I won't buy the Fenix until it integrates correctly with external units. It's a shame because by all accounts it's a very well done aircraft.
Great video just like all your other videos that have helped me 1 way or another. Does this just work on the A320? Or other Airbus aircraft? I just recently bought the LVFR A330-900neo. Hoping it works on that. Keep up the great videos.
@@michakwiatkowski4527I've paid for shipping today. I opted for the FedEx option and insurance which was $60. I had a option to prepay the duty but considering the unit and shipping comes to $160, I believe it should fall under the UK's threshold of £135. So hopefully no duty to be paid. The shipping company wanted to charge me an additional $54 to cover duty. Ill take my chances when it arrives 😂
@@JMsoo yes. Not sure if they're sending them out by order number or not. Just to give you more info, I was an early bird backer with a very low order number.
First of all, thanks for the video. 1 question pls. How do you turn it off? When I shut down the computer, the minicockpit display remains lit, and I'll have to unplug it from the usb!
I have a question. Do any of you also have the “mini FCU”? And if so, have any of you gotten it to work with the FBW mod? Because the mini FCU works with the FBW A320, so it should also work with the mod and the LVFR A321. Unfortunately it doesn't work. Does anyone know why?
this is absolutely fantastic, but its out of stock :D i need it, missed that push & pull for the best feeling, this will be adding a lot of more immersion in vr!
Can you comment on how this works eith other aircraft entirely if at all? My main flyer is a TBM930 and eould love to use something like this, understnadble if the display doesn't work but if can adjust the parameters still would be nice
Hey, I just recieved my MiniFCU, but I have noticed that when certain values are in managed mode, in-game they are dashes but on the FCU it shows the numbers. I thought it was a MiniFCU problem but I noticed yours had dashes and was wondering if you had any ideas on how to get mine working? I am using Mobiflight to fly the Fenix if that is the issue. Thanks! :)
I may sell mine guys, may Kickstarter the deluxe 3 unit one. @320 Sim Pilot - I believe one of the EFIS units was a Kickstarter project that was funded in July, as I missed it due to working away.
Any chance you could do something re fault messages from the aircraft itself? I have a new install of the Fenix A320 and mini FCU (now fully working). However shortly after take off I get Master cautions and error messages. (cab/press -- Aut throttle limited) to name but two. AP trips off and cannot re engage. Also message to move thrust levers!! Driving me nuts!! 🥵

Thanks for reviewing. I noticed 2 things: push/pull depth is very short, is it matching real airbus? and the unit is always on even if airbus has battery off, ground power off
Thank you for this great review! Of course I will also use this with the Fenix A320 ceo, and I will happily accept the current limitations - for the time being, that is. Now it is even harder for me to wait for my unit to arrive. "Before Christmas" is all I know so far, let's hope for much sooner than that.
I wanted to immediately impulse buy this for Christmas, but when I went to their website, the shop was down, and the unit was advertised as 98'000 Euro. I think they missed a great sales opportunity with this video going online but their shop not being ready.
I've got mine ordered just waiting for shipping! Did you have to pay import tax to the UK? I received an email from them saying it's going to be roughly another £100 GBP for shipping and taxes?
This addon will be absolutely awesome WHEN it works COMPLETELY WITH THE FENIX A320 (and their upcoming planes)! In the meantime, the MiniFCU website is telling me NOT to buy the MiniFCU (test in progress)... for over a year!?!
@the-aviator .... Even cheaper than that my Friend. I got it for $99, the next level up was $129 and so on to Retail around $250. Shipping will hurt though!
@@the-aviator Not sure yet, as have not got my shipping email with price on, but am expecting over $120 to UK, if rumours are to be believed. They say they are not making any money on shipping....YEAH Right!! At those prices i can get sent a Electric bike form China!!
USB-C might be vastly better for certain applications, like rapid charging todays smartphones, but clearly micro-USB serves absolutely fine for the Mini-FCU. It's not like you're transferring data to/from it or charging it for portable use. What a weird thing to be anal about. Do you not buy other products because their power cords aren't the same as other manufacturers power cords?
Micro USB should be GONE, no new products should be released with it. It sucks. The amount of ports I've had to repair just because the cable got tugged at an angle..
