I am moving into a dorm room soon, and my life has been pretty cluttered with things I don't need lately, but this video makes me feel motivated to de-clutter and make my dorm as clean and live-able as possible!(: thank you!
I know from experience how hard it can be in a smaller space with little to know storage. Without storage, everything ends up being on display and then you feel the need to deal with it. In that case reduction is usually the only option. Good luck!
So interesting that Marie Condos book worked for you. I kept objecting to the method, but I never made the connection that it might be because I rarely make emotional desicions. Even when it comes to my love-life, the rational part of my brain tends to do the most work (which has its pros and cons...).
Good points! I think in some ways I was thinking over-rationally and logically. I was always making excuses not to get rid of something. However, with Marie Kondo's method it was more about if I felt a thrill or not. There was no gray area, just yes or no. I couldn't really argue with myself about that so I was able to let go of a lot more. I think our brains and personalities play a big role in how easy or difficult it is to let go of stuff. Thanks for sharing your experience =)
about composting in japan, see "Peaceful Cuisine" here in youtube, how he does it is after collecting food scraps, he place the container filled with it, into the refrigerator/freezer, then placed it in a food processor to break it down, then pour it in his composting bin which at that time was a box. as of now he bought a turning composter. (the kind you buy in a store then assemble at home).
Hi Tara! After watching nearly all of your videos, I feel very inspired, and I think my husband and I are actually going to work towards getting TESOL certificates! On that note, I was curious as to what your husband did, being that you all travel so frequently. Does he teach ESL as well? If so have you experienced any hardships attaining jobs at the same institution or those nearby?
That is great. Yes, he is also an ESL teacher and we haven't had any problems. Some schools prefer couples and even advertise for them. It is less common in Japan though for public school positions but we haven't had any trouble! If you are interested in some more tips about TESOL my husband has a few videos on his channel: goo.gl/8T4HZf
Thanks for sharing Tara, love from Singapore. Through your channel I get to know about zero waste and Oral Wellness. When will you be doing a house tour for your new apartment? Enjoy your house tour in your last apartment.
That is great to hear! I love Singapore, so many memories there. I'll be making that video soonish. Probably will film when I get back from travels mid-August although there is a small chance I will film it this week before I leave. Happy to hear you are looking forward to it =)
Glad to hear that you had visited Singapore. Any future plan to teach in Singapore? Looking forward to your next apartment tour. Motivated by how you make your small apartment work for both you and your hubby. Less stuff less stress. Thanks for sharing.
We would defo consider living in Singapore one day. Right now we are focused on my husband getting a greencard for the US so it isn't in the immediate future plan =) Sorry the house tour isn't up yet! I'm making a few more changes after Marie Kondo's seminar. Hang tight ;)
Yes it is! I realized only after filming this Q&A that she recently took down all of her content. I was so disappointed as I referenced her videos all the time and they were helping so many people! She still has her instagram account though..
So cool you like Salsa! You would like Tito Puente Mambo Birdland. They have the album on Spotify which is free (unless you get premium). It's old school so it has a lot of flavor to it! 😉🌴
TaraWhiteTalks Great!😃 Looking forward to your videos. Your previous house home tour inspired me to minimize my possession at home and at work. It's much easier, quicker and simple for me to clean and organize. Your information is useful and simple to implemet. Thank you!
That is wonderful and very kind feedback! I'm so glad you have also experienced some benefits from simplifying. Thanks for the support and encouragement. Just published that video also =)
