How is your grass/garden growing going? I think the biggest tip to a successful growing experience is starting with good fertile dirt. We live in very northern Canada we can get snow any month of the year. Our ground has about 2 inches of top soil because a fire that came through many years ago. Apparently it burned even the top soil so we are told🤷‍♀️. What people around here have to do is bring in composted manure from local farmers. Our garden is literally made up entirely of a few dump truck loads of old cow/horse manure. We had a few loads spread around our yard as well for our lawn. Our vegetable garden bed is about a foot and a half thick and it grows vegetables beautifully.....if you have access to manure that might be your ticket as well. Growing a garden in bad soil is sooo discouraging.

It’s not going great! But I’m not giving up! I have successfully grown cilantro, Swiss chard, garlic, chives, carrots, and spinach my sweet pea plants put off a few peas, but not many and my green bean plants put off a few green beans but not many oh, and I successfully grew okra. My soil definitely needs mending, and I definitely need to find a good source of compost and manure. That is so interesting that you can get snow anytime of the year and still grow a vegetable garden. Do you have to cover it a lot?

Beautiful home! We currently live in a 2br mobile home with 5 young children... Really hoping we can get into our 1500sqft farmhouse sooner than later! We are striving to minimize extra stuff but I'm finding it so hard with 5 children... They love their stuff... And we Homeschool...and homestead... Honestly I'm finding the journey to minimalism a challenge! Favorite series are definitely Green Ember, American Adventure Series, and Little House series.

It is very hard at times. Just take one space at a time. My biggest advice is find contentment in where you are right now. Minimize where you can. I’ve definitely packed up some of the things before and divided what that are allowed y to have at one time into smaller more manageable amounts. Then rotate through the totes or whatever you pack them away in. That way everyone is happy. The children will love having less to manage And will eventually see the wisdom in letting go of the things they don’t love. My girls are still figuring that out but let go of more And more as they grow and mature. Good luck!!! Your doing great Mama!!!

Great video, thank you! We live in a very large house but only have 2 kids. It's way too big for us and we have considered downsizing but we love the area and the outlook so much. I struggle with the size of the house though!! Our biggest struggle with minimalism is definitely kids toys and the kids "decorating" their rooms by putting so many things out on display. Drives me nuts! My husband and I are very minimal though.

I love how minimalistic and clean you are able to keep the house with the large family you have. My house is only about 200 sq feet smaller than yours but it seems much smaller. I have a bonus room above the garage and it never felt like a good use of space. I wished I had that on the ground floor. We don't have a pantry and that's something I would make good use of.

Thank you! I knew I wanted a big pantry for sure! Our last home for not have a pantry so I converted an entry closet into a pantry.🤷‍♀️ I have 2 small ones here plus use several cabinets to store food. E we also converted the loft here into a bedroom. The builder just added doors to it for us. Maybe add our children grow we will open it back up but I have a long time before that happens. ❤️

We live in a 3B 2B 1,000 square ft home. My husband and I have 3 children and are minimalists. I love having a small space, it brings us all closer together. The downside is we do not have a garage, pantry or linen closet, so we use our master closet as our “storage space.” I also wish our layout was a bit different but otherwise it is MAGICAL. I am grateful!

Hi Morgan, new to your channel. Thank you for sharing your home with us! I have been on a journey pursuing minimalism for several years now. We raised our three children in a 2600 SQ FT home, and I felt like that was a good size. We have four bedrooms, but my husband's office was one bedroom so my boys shared a room until big sister went to college. Currently 2 of our 3 children are still living with us - our oldest moved back in to save money (Austin is an expensive place to live!) and our youngest is still finishing up his high school credits. We are talking about downsizing in the future when we are empty nesters!😊

Definitely middle of August we get frost randomly for a few nights....so we just try to be aware of the temperature and cover things like beans and squash. They are really sensitive to frost. Apparently the reason we can grow things as well here as we can is because of the long daylight hours. Light at 3am till 11.😅 Gardening is lots of fun. Our kids love being in the garden...snacking and helping weed and pick. (We are expecting our 8th) We got ourselves a 20×30 greenhouse last year. That was a lot of fun. Now I can easily grow tomatoes, cucumbers and even melons 🤗.

I have just come across your channel. We have 5 children, the oldest one is out of the house, married and now expecting their first child. The next oldest works full time. We are also a homeschooling family since September 2009. Currently we have three left homeschooling, ages 14, 12, and 7. I began several months ago to start to clean things out and become more minimalist.

Beautiful home!! I’ve been minimizing my home. We are a family of 5. It gets overwhelming with so much to manage. I love how minima your entire house is. I’d love to see inside of kitchen cabinets and things. What all you keep for a family your size. The medicine cabinet has been daunting for me to get to. My husband likes lots of silverware and lots of mugs. So that’s been something I’ve just had to ignore haha I’m going to subscribe :)

I am a mom of six. Ages 14 to 7. We are far from minamist. Where do you even start? We have way to much and I get overwhelmed even thinking about it.

My best advice Is just start. Pick a closet or a corner. Device is something is functional or beautiful. For me I think of everything in our home as something I have to manage, so game closets.. sheets, ect. I only keep things I can manage. I’m down to only 1 Set of sheets per bed because I can wash the sheets the same day and get them back on before bed so I no longer have to store them. I haven’t always been that efficient. I continue to downsize. It’s a lifestyle really. Just start. Get rid of things you don’t love. Then do it again and again. You will find a happy place. I’ll be glad to answer any questions you have. It took me people a full year The first time. But my entire garage was full of totes. My attic was full. Every closet was full. You got this just don’t get into analysis paralysis. Make piles… trash, Keep, donate. Touch it and decide. It may seem like it gets worse before it gets better.

@@MorganMunday This is great advice. I think we all get into the habit of keeping stuff "just in case" we might need it. This is a very bad habit to get into! I try to ask myself if I haven't used it in a year do I really need it?!

My advice from experience, go over each child's clothes. One day for your youngest, work to the oldest. Its a well worth all day decluttering.

We are family of five, moving on September. I started declutter 2 years ago. I don’t consider us as minimalist, but we probably are. I kept only stuff we really using. And when my friend texted me congratulations to moving with a joke I can start declutter for our move I realize I really don’t need to do that. We just take everything. ( I probably will get rid of some toys 😂) So I am an ADHD busy mom and I got frustrated with our home to keep up. I started just getting rid of stuff we didn’t use, I stop asking myself how much it did cost or who gives the things to us. First question was do I use it? ( at least once a year, for starting) If NO ,do I like the thing if yes, It needs to get home. Box in basement/ garage wasn’t a option. And another tip I would set up a timer for 15 to 20 minutes every day and declutter. Not clean/ organize but declutter. Another trick if you not sure about anything I put it in a quarantine box. Close it and put a date on it , like in one month or two if the date passes and I didn’t come back for anything to get from that box. Don’t even open it and bring to the donation. You probably won’t never need it again. My kids get 2 cubbies each for their personal stuff / toys and we have some cubbies for sharing toys. If it don’t fit in they can’t have it or something must leave. Clothes. My kids were allowed to keep 10 t-shirts short sleeve and 10 y-shirts for winter. 7 sweat pants 3 nice pants/ jeans. 7 shorts. 3 hoodies/ light jacket . And 5 house t-shirts 3 sweat pants ( can be ruined/ dirty/holes) you got the point. Of course they have like 1-2 outfits to church and special occasions. We do wear same stuff all over again. When is ruin. We do replace it. My girl is allowed to have some skirts and sweaters. So easy to maintain. Just the clothes took me two years to figure it out 😂 . Good luck…… and just start

Loved the tour! You have a beautiful home. We are a family of 6. 4 kiddos. We left a 1200sq ft home, 2 bedrooms and 1 bath in 2019 and build our dream home. I feel like the more space helps me keep things organized. Our favorite book series are the Chronicles of Narnia, The Green Ember, and Little on the Prairie House Series. We have 9 sweet kiddos! I am overwhelmed by how much stuff we have but I am very excited to go down the road to minimalism. We are in a quite small house but it’s not so bad 😅😁. The noise things is for real though haha. The more I empty my main living spaces the more it echos 😬

We have 4, soon to be 5 kids. We live in a 3300 square foot house and I don't like it!! It's too big. I want to move back to a smaller house. Still working towards a minimalist lifestyle. My oldest kid is not one at all. My others probably could be and would be just fine, but my oldest is only 9 so it's hard to tell some days. Thank you for showing me that what I want is possible and comfortable!
