Nothing is more frustrating than paying for a dumpster and realizing someone else filled it with their junk. Yes, dumping your garbage in someone else's dumpster is frowned upon. If you make someone else pay for your cleanup, it's theft.

Agreed but I don’t think one of her neighbors payed for it, it was probably put out there by the GC/new build company and honestly they prob get it all the time and have no issue ordering a new one. Still probably not the right thing to do, but it’s not like it was a family that payed for it for their own stuff.

I also came here to say this. And then some states it’s illegal, so I most definitely would not dump your junk in somebody else is dumpster. I’m all for decluttering, but pay for somebody to come haul it off like load-up or 1-800 got junk. If you can’t afford to pay for somebody to come and take it slowly, but surely put it in your own trashcan.

I'm a minimalist and I found your channel looking for minimalism content to inspire for the next layer of my decluttering "onion" and this series was SO satisfying to watch, thanks for sharing it! It reminds me of the massive whole house declutter we did back at the start of our minimalism journey. I can well imagine just how much of a difference this has made to your life 🎉 I've subscribed so I can follow your minimalism maintenance. Keep going! Intentional living for the win!! I love your choice of music for your videos, it's so upbeat and motivating. PS You guys have it so good with your Goodwill donations system in the US. Here in the UK, we donate to individual "Charity Shops" which are usually located in town centres. This means a donations drop off involves paying for parking and walking donations in to the shop. Some have parking at the back though, so I usually go to those!

In the early decluttering days as I went minimal-ish (!) on the way to minimal-ist I found her ideas so helpful. Marissa from A to Zen Life helped me achieve a level of minimalism I'm comfortable with for our family but I'm ready to go hard core on our loft (attic)!

Definitely illegal to dump in other peoples dumpsters… and also quite rude.. most people pay per load dumped so you are making them pay more for it to be dumped more often.

Thank you for sharing! That was great motivation! I currently have my pile of donations sitting in my spare bedroom. I have it there as we have half of our garage decluttered and I don’t want to put anything else in there. 😂. However, now I messed up my spare room again. 😂. One step at a time I guess. Glad your Mom was ok and that you had all the extra hands on deck. I am so happy for you that you were able to get this process done! Great transformation! I am looking forward to the update video!

Is it legal to dump into any dumpster in your country? In mine it is really expensive to rent one, so it is illegal. But the garage turned out nice.

Same in the UK. We have to go to a recycling centre or pay for our own dumpster. We call them a "Skip" here.😅

Yes, same here about it being illegal in my country/state. Since she mentioned the dumpsters being available nearby due to new construction, I think it depends on the builder(s) if it’s allowable to use them. Very nice that they are allowing the residents to use them here, but I’m sure it would not be okay if random people that don’t live there came by to dump items.

Thought I was the only one questioning this. Nice to clean out your space, but at someone else’s expense, not so nice. Someone has to pay to get those dumpsters emptied. If it’s allowed, you’re so very lucky.

Yeah, I was shocked when she said they went down the street to "their" dumpster. Ummm not your dumpster. Then she said if you don't have dumpsters in your neighborhood, you "can find something on the side of the road. But that might be frowned upon" ya think

Yes, it is illegal and I found it appalling that she said “we’re getting it out of our house and that’s what matters”…she brought the trash into her home and now isn’t taking responsibility for properly discarding it.

i should’ve talked about those! 🤦🏼‍♀️ those are filled with extra decor for the seasons, and we actually already went through all of it as we were putting it away in storage bins. nick built those shelves about a month ago, so we quickly went through everything while we were organizing it then 😊 everything on the shelves is good to stay!!

First, I love your videos! Second, I don’t want to scare you, but also I wish I would’ve known this a year ago. My dad had two falls where we think he actually passed out temporarily due to heart issues. He just suffered cardiac arrest and thankfully made it through. If your mom truly doesn’t remember why she fell, please have her get her heart checked out! It could save her life.

yep! lots of clothes, shoes, pots, pans, plates, cups, (a lot of kitchen ware), some old home decor, random items we haven’t touched in a year, etc.

you talk about at the end of your videos that the job isn't done until the room is cleaned up. well it's also not done until you donate the items. otherwise, they just make clutter somewhere else

we’ve probably taken likeee 3 goodwill trips before this from the other rooms in the house, this was just everything left over from that and other random crap in the garage 😂
