For all those considering the Speedway 5, or considering it against another scooter (such as the Dualtron Thunder), I wanted to post my very recent experience (I tested and purchased the Speedway 5 from Lastmile in San Francisco two days ago). Bottom-line: Love it! I went in for the test rides thinking the Dualtron Thunder was the scooter I would buy. I was intrigued by the Speedway 5 from videos I had watched here on RU-vid, but I was a bit concerned it would have enough power, especially hill-climbing power, because I weigh 250 lbs. and I live in the mountains. One 10 minute test ride erased those worries from my mind: Straight up a few San Francisco steep hills (easily). It was smooth, powerful, gilded nicely, etc. I then tried the Dualtron Thunder and, honestly, to my huge surprise, immediately hated it! I hated how it rode. I didn't like the balance, the feel on the road, etc. I was completely shocked! I took it back within minutes and purchased the Speedway 5 and an upgraded fast charger. I don't know if my satisfaction will continue (I'll have to see how the scooter holds up after a bit of riding) but, for now, I'm extremely happy that I saved myself about $1500 getting a scooter that I FAR preferred. If you're a big guy (okay, I'll say FAT), don't worry too much: This scooter, regardless of the lower specs than the Thunder, is plenty powerful to haul you around; and it's far smoother at a significantly less price. I wanted to post, because I had many concerns that I assume others might have when thinking about what scooter to buy. I hope this helps somebody out. Peace.

"More Power" is what everyone looks for in scooters. I think The Dualtron Thunder is far more superior, come on price says it all 🙂 🤷🏻‍♂️. You can't compare a $1500 dollar scooter to a $3,000+ scooter 🤭

@@teslacybertruck750 He's not saying one is better than the other, he's just saying he's glad the SW5 answers his needs in terms of climbing power in particular ans that he could save some precious money in the process. We all know the Thunder is a crazy good scooter but SW5 is the best all rounder espicially considering the pricetag.

I have the speedway IV Pro. I put 800 miles on it in about four months. Absolutely love it. Thing handles like a dream and compact enough I bring it in any store I go into and that's with not even folding it up. I can hit a top speed of 30 miles an hour with a 50 to 60 mile range. The speedway 5 looks awesome. Got to handle even better with the new front suspension. I would love to have the Speedway 5 with the single 800. The Dual 800 would be excellent but they definitely have to have a bigger battery in it. I believe they all come with the same size battery. I promise you with that dual motor you be getting 35 to 40 miles Max.

@@marky678 if you find one side or both sides of the handlebars coming loose and getting a little play in them after a ride. Pull the coupling and fold one side of the handlebar down. @@marky678 One more thing. Being that this is my first scooter and I keep it inside in the air conditioning. I always clean and inspect the tires after every ride. I pulled out a staple and a couple pieces of glass that were embedded into the rear tire. Since I caught the problem right away and got them out I avoided flat and destroyed rear tire. Your Speedway 5 with 20 extra pounds definitely do that. At nine hundred miles on mine the rear tire is now showing signs of wear nothing too bad. Probably get another 500 miles out of it. Again with yours having that extra weight and dual motors they're going to wear quicker and pick up more trash off the roads so keep an eye on them. At least they did put Quality Tires on the scooter.

I don't know how many miles she rode her Speedway V for, but I don't believe it had any major problems at all. The only problems I'm really aware of on the Speedway V is that the suspension starts to go after a while, but can be replaced/fixed. The Speedway 5 is a much faster scooter, so if you're worried about hills, and can afford the Speedway, I'd definitely recommend that.

@AlienRides
@AlienRides 5 лет назад
I get asked this quite a lot and it's hard to pick a clear winner. For going fast, the Speedway V wins because it has 60v motors. For offroading and jumping things, the Zero 10X is a blast to ride with its trampoline-like suspension. Both are awesome scooters for sure, both have some issues with the handlebars (they become noisy/shakey over time). Hope it's helpful, but not sure I can help the confusion. Good luck!

Good questions. Although they both run at 60 volts, you can't really compare this to the Thunder, as the Thunder runs at higher amps and watts. The Thunder will probably be 5-10 mph faster than the Speedway. The Thunder battery is also larger, at 35ah (vs 23ah), so you'll get more range. But the Speedway is more portable, and lightweight, maybe easier to maneuver when needed for standard commuting. The crazy looking scooter is my friend's totally custom scooter. I'm hoping to do a video on that one in the near future.

@lanceguilin
@lanceguilin 4 года назад
@@AlienRides They sure can get punctures but the theory goes that with tubed tires, with the constant start / stop / acceleration of escooters, the tube rubs against the tire tread very often and that over time this rubbing action itself can cause the inner tube to wear out and produce a flat tire. Figuring out which one to buy is always the hardest 😅
@matelslug1
@matelslug1 5 лет назад
@@AlienRides sorry to trouble u but i realise in every video for n1d , there is this screeching noise like some metal parts are rubbing against each other which to me is very unpleasant. did u find that rattling of parts while reviewing??
@AlienRides
@AlienRides 5 лет назад
matelslug1 tbh I can’t recall any metal screeching noise, and I don’t have the scooter to test any more. I do recall the offroad tires making a cool sound as we were cruising, but it wasn’t a metal sound. Can you point me to a time stamp a video? Also, I think with almost any scooter various parts might start making noise. Generally you can fix that with silicon grease or similar.

Doing a video on the Dualtron Eagle Pro soon. The Eagle Pro is going to be a bit more lightweight than this scooter, and personally I like that power to weight ratio, so I might opt to go with that one. Both are great choices though.

Hi, Seen a few videos for the Boosted Rev but I think the comparisons they are making are a bit off - if and when you do the Boosted scooter test can you compare it against the Speedway 5 - for price range and usage - I think this would be a great comparison (or against the Spider for weight class maybe)? I paid £1530 (with 10% discount code) for my Speedway 5 and the Rev will go on sale in the UK for £1599… I think the Speedway 5, although 9kg heavier is twice the scooter and for around the same price AND, it’s made by Minimotors (enough said yeah)! Hey scooters are meant to be ridden not carried anyway huh…..Be great to see what you think?
@AlienRides
@AlienRides 5 лет назад
Yeah, I think you are correct to have those concerns, I have the same. I think the rev will definitely not make you regret your purchase, the Speedway 5 is a great machine.

@@AlienRides Confirmed date/venue for the London Launch of the boosted Rev - 6th June 2019 11:00am > 1:00pm; "The Broadwalk Café", Black Lion Gate, London W2 4RU, UK. Will let you know what I think - if all goes well I might just look at this a bit more seriously - my 1st choice for a scooter in this weight class was the Spider but it's proving to be a nightmare, delivery time (up-to 3 months.....) and it will cost me a further £500 + to get it's specs up to standard and still keep the weight below 20kg (tyres, brakes, handlebars, locking, carrying - I might as well build my own huh)?????? Watch this space...……. :-)

@@AlienRides Look forward to seeing your video.... Yeah the Spider does have the power and to be honest, it's the scooter that I've had my eye on since it was released as it's lighter than others in that power class. Yup they do look similar! As far as I know speedway was out first, so the emove cruiser either copied the design, or they got the frame from the same factory which is pretty common. It seems like a great cruiser, but this is much faster so it’s more of a racer.

I know the emove cruiser and the Qiewas have a pretty high water resistant level and I live in Florida so during the hurricane season brings lots of rain and I'm in the market to buy a scooter so I'm looking for a scooter that will withstand some rain without shorting out. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them.

I'm a huge fan of everything about this besides the "generic frame" I had a no name Chinese build with the same frame design and a 350 watt motor. When I jumped off a curb it snapped where the handle bars connect to the deck (right where the curved metal piece where the folding mechanism is and the 4 bolts that hold it down are). Maybe on this model they perfected it. Did it seem to wobble and click in and out of place/ have a ton of steering stem play while riding? I flipped it back doing a wheelie one time and the entire light system a plastic under the deck all snapped. I also have a go ped esr 750 and that thing is a total tank, you can abuse the heck out of it.
@AlienRides
@AlienRides 5 лет назад
This one in particular seemed to be ok for me, but who knows what happens over time. I've heard that speedway is moving into a new factory and people suspect it will improve quality. We'll see if that's true or not.

chuck noel the spider is a really fun ride for sure, just an awesome amount of power for a smaller and lightweight package. If you can afford the spider limited with the 24ah battery that would be my recommendation. It is more expensive than the speedway V I believe, and maybe a little slower, but I do like the spider a lot. And thanks, the channel is growing slowly and I’m happy with that :)

chuck noel if you’re lighter, maybe 185 lbs or less, the spider is probably fine now. If portability is not a concern at all, the speedway V is an excellent choice. To make your choice even harder, the dualtron 3 might be a nice option as well if you want a slightly bigger battery - though performance is about the same as the speedway.
