Minimum Requirements needed to learn ML mentioned in the Video: 8 GB RAM or 16GB if it falls in your budget 256 GB SSD 1 TB HDD 1 GPU - GTX 1650 or 1660; AMD Ryzen 5,7 5th Gen / Intel i5, i7 11th,12th
I managed to learn Data Science and ML on the following system due to my budget constraints. - Intel Core2 Duo processor (old laptop from 2007) - 4 GB DDR2 RAM - No dedicated graphics - 128 GB SSD Hard disk (I upgraded it from 160 GB HDD) My laptop was very slow on Windows, so I installed Lubuntu (Ubuntu LXDE) and was able to practice coding. I used free Google Colab whenever required. I recently got a very decent Data Science job at an MNC and then bought a laptop with 32 GB RAM and Nvidia graphics card because I want to try some deep learning. I still feel my new laptop is not really necessary because I can do all that in my office laptop too. But I think of it as a reward for getting a job, lol. The bottom-line is don't waste money on expensive laptops when you are not earning. You can still learn ML with whatever laptop you have. If you don't have one then buy a basic one.
@@karanshirsath4934 Yes, you can. Deep Learning (DL) is only one part of Data Science. There's data mining, data visualization, classic machine learning, etc that you can learn. Most data science jobs focus on 1 or 2 things the most. Many data science jobs don't even use deep learning.
@YT I want to learn Data Science and I have PC which is intel core i5 2nd gen with Nvidia GT 710, PC can be upgraded in regards with ram and ssd. So, do I need to upgrade in my native system or shall I buy a brand new laptop or a 2nd hand for learning purposes and with what configuration if so. My bugdet is upto 50 k only if there is no other option. I am having dilemma in buying brand new laptop and 2nd hand used one in terms of future work requirments, shall invest 1 time this time or invest sufficiently for the learning purposes and invest again in future when the works come along like krish mentioned. It will be so helpful if you could reply.
@@kshitijoberoi1928 I am not in favour of buying used laptops as something may go wrong with them anytime. So, you have 2 options - upgrade current laptop or buy a new one under 50k. My suggestion would be to upgrade now, learn DS, get a job, then buy a new one (at this point, you may not even need to buy one as most companies provide a laptop to work with). What's the RAM on your PC? See if you can upgrade to 8 GB. And definitely upgrade to SSD - this will make a huge difference in speed. Let me know if you have more questions. Happy learning!
@@zyphtron PC RAM is 8 gb and yes i can upgrade to SSD, which will definetly boost the perfomance. I was worried about my PC processor being core i5 2nd generation that, will it be enough to learn the data science, ML. Will it be enought to handle all the processing requires for these things. I am mainly concern about the processor for laptop (if i am buying) and that to between intel/ryzen and which generation, and if i dont need to buy laptop then should I upgrade my PC processor? and again between intel/ryzen and which generation? Thank you for replying.
@@souvikbiswas338 Yes you can certainly do that. I have a laptop with 32 GB RAM. The point was to start with 16 GB. It helps later in case you need to update. 8 GB will not work in case you ever want to do video editing or Deep Learning training for that matter.
I started Machine Learning (still learning) on my Core i3 7th Gen 4 GB RAM 1 TB HDD Intel HD (onboard GPU) I haven’t done any large scale projects. But it has been working smoothly for other Machine Learning tasks (yes, it is slow sometimes and it is frustrating) I bought my laptop for $180, a used one. Still going on smoothly. I got an internship as a data analyst now. I would be getting a good laptop (for gaming as well) in the future.
Hi Krish, Totally agree with you about selecting the laptop for learning. Even it would be better if we use community cloud platforms with base model laptops.
Krish sir what configuration you said is more than enough to work with deep learning project's with like detection system with 10k+ images with vgg16/19 model. Moreover it takes less around 10- 20 minutes to train images. Even i am using laptop with 8gb ram, nvidia gtx 1650 and 6 core processor. Thanks alot sir for your videos on data science,Machine learning and deep learning.

@Krish Naik, BHAI I LOVE YOU !!! Mai completely Fidaaa hogaya aapke baatonse. Along with Min Laptop Specs for ML/DL you've also given a free Finance Class for Students & Parents !!!
I am using i3- 3rd gen 7years old laptop working good for ML models .. now I got the confidence, I am able to make a career transition .. now I am planning to buy new laptop... Thank you for the video's... Krish
just a geek suggestion.. if you want to build a workstation go for threadripper processors like threadripper 3960x for lower budget and 3990X for extreme ... it's higher core count will most definitely help or you can go for ryzen 5950X..
@@shashishekhar---- I was talking only if you want to build a work station for deep learning... You can go for lower budget for this bt it won't work... It will take you forever
Respect for you 😊 . I am going to buy my first Laptop after 9 years of experience for the same reason that office laptop was sufficient but now I want to work on some personal projects
MacOS vs. Windows / Desktop (ex: Mac Studio) vs. Laptop (ex: Macbook Pro) for deep learning, if the portability and the budget is not important as performance?
Hi krish, In my laptop I have ८ gb ram २५६ gb ssd and १tb hdd But I have २gb intel graphics is this sufficient. By the way are you marathi?, I am also marathi.
Hi Sir, I have hp laptop with i3 7th gen 8 gb ram | 256gb SSD + 1 Tb HDD and Nvidia MX110 gpu so should I buy a new laptop or upgrade the ram or can continue learning ML on the same laptop ?
Hi krish sir, I am going to buy new laptop With ryzen 5 5600h The only concern is this laptop is having with amd RX5500M GPU Is it okay to buy this laptop Another version is same processor with NVDIA GEFORCE RTX 3050. The second rtx version price is 10000 more than the amd gpu version. I am really confused??? Can you please suggest can i run cuda and other library on amd gpu? Please suggest.
What if if we spend 1000$ for only the app subscription why no to spend it on the good laptop or a desktop because for me i bought MacBook air m3 because I know this future proof And I believe it is better to spend money once instead of spending again and again
That's whys its said " Being Rich doesn't mean having money to buy whatever you want & whenever you want. Being Rich means having BOTH MONEY & CONSCIOUSNESS of WHAT you're buying, HOW you're buying (means without difficulty for money, loans, etc.) & most importantly WHY you're buying"
Sir, I don’t have dedicated GPU, I have intel iris XE GPU, it does my machine learning work easily. But once I trained a tensorflow neural network it took 2 hours. Should I use colab pro for my deep learning works? I am new to deep learning
Hi Sir, Good evening, at the last of video you mentioned that I have good laptop configuration and could you please let me the laptop I am going to order. I am a working employee I can support good configuration and not more than great configuration. And thank you so much
i have 1 st gen i3 can with 8 gb and gt710 even open power bi it takes years to open . whatever you said it makes sense . "dont waste until you earn" . now i am very confused should i buy new laptop ausu f15 i510 or should i still use i3 ?
Krish naik pls make a video on when to start DS ML project during the certification course . like after linear & logistic regression or full complition of ML concept this my request . regarding this many of them have confusion including me . & thank u for your amazing teaching to Data science community
Sooner the better. Nobody cares about DS/ML certificates as there's no standard for certification in this field. If you spend a few hours online, you can collect half a dozen of these certificates from various websites and they are all useless. Only certificates that matter as of today are Google ML certificate or the AWS ML certificate. If you are not going for them then spend as much time as possible to doing projects. You need to have some working knowledge at least to clear interviews, which you'll get only from projects.
@@umarshaikh6546 Yes, I work as an ML Engineer. I didn't understand what's "ty maths". Are you a 3rd year student of B.Sc Mathematics? What guidance do you need? You can ask your questions.
I'm currently learning machine learning with dual core 3 ghz processor and 3gb DDR2 ram. 😂😂 And I'm having not much problem. I only use Google colab or kaggle notebooks. And people say you can't do it with this hardware
Yup if you don't have high configuration desktop or laptop..google colab is best option but in free version you will get limited ram...so you cant train much data .however for learning purpose it's enough
Sir graphic card which should I buy in 2023 . I am doing project in live face detection in a shopping mall , I m using deep learning pytorch open cv , yolo. Thank you
Hi Krish Sir, I got HP 14s with 512GB SSD, 8gb ram ddr4, 8 MB L3 cache, Integrated 4GB VRAM Intel Iris Xe Graphics and 11th Gen Intel Core i5 with 1366x768 resolution. Can i use for learning and making projects. on machine learning and deep learning?
I will join college in few months and I have a question should I buy a laptop or a pc (If I buy a pc then I won't buy a laptop) so what would you recommend ?
Sir I am thinking to buy a laptop One- xiaomi notebook 16 gb ram, 512gb ssd ,i5 11th gen ,iris xe 56k around Two- asus tuf a15 8gb ram,512gb ssd,i5 10th gen, gtx 1650 4gb graphics.. 56k around I am a student of engineering ..which one should i buy?
For a college student, they can work on colab or there are workstation in every college which they can utilze, so a college student can save a lot of money.
Hi sir I am looking forward to buy MacBook M1 8gb ram and 256gb rom (with external SSD if required) it has 7 core GPU will it be sufficient...some say M1 doesn't have library compatiblies Pls reply 🙏
I was trying to do style transfer with cnn but my pc with 8gb ran and GTX 1060 with i5 6th gen completely froze and after 25-30 min it completed the task and shows an error of resource exhaust so I think 16gb is a bit better 😅
